When you get to Hall debuting in WCW, you can tell he pulled a lot of material from these skits. Hall more than anyone was always making references to Scheme Gene, Nacho Man, Billionaire Ted, etc. It almost seems that WWF was suing WCW for referring to the characters from the skits and not because Hall and Nash were portraying WWF employees.

I was surprised to see Mikey take so much control early on, clearly focusing on the neck and do some cool shit like the choking, counter DDT, reverse Mutoh death lock. Sahne counters with a neck breaker and now Shane is working on Mikey’s neck. Right on. Awesome spot with MIkey outside on the apron facing the fans and getting dropkicked off and landing throat first on the rail. Sweet. I could have done without the chair spot and Mikey kicking out. However. It did kickstart a nice but brief stretch run with Mikey trying to take Shane out in desperation. Shane turns the tables and catches Mikey with a tombstone and then hooks on a full nelson. Wow! He mercifully ends it with a belly-to-belly.

TOM K made this comment in the Meltzer thread and as the steward of the current project, I am very interested in the idea of which process is better for forming a concensus. In a way, you can even compare this to the 2 very different ways in which the Observer does its Hall of Fame and MOTYs. The 1990s project is more like the format used to select the MOTYs. People write in their match of the years and then the numbers are added up but not every match is considered. The Hall of Fame is set up so that you choose from a predetermined list on what you feel is most worthy (similar to the 80s sets) although the nagging issue of a lack of exposure to certain wrestlers can hamper their chances. I was very critical of the WWF project when it began so I am not above criticism when it comes to changing my mind or whatever. I know jdw does not like the current model and his opinions on the process are archived somewhere so I am not interested in opening up that argument again. I am also not interested in praise for the DVDs themselves (but thank you for those). What I am really looking for is an opinion on which project really reflects the ideal or does neither reflect an ideal from those who participated in both projects?

I would have loved this just to hear Bryan and Dave's reaction, after they complained that WWE may f*ck with the integrity of the Royal Rumble gimmick by having some jobber win it and then get screwed out of the title shot in their Rumble preview. I'll be honest with you but Bryan and Dave's reaction was the last thing I was thinking about when going over the possibilities of a Santino win.

The Santino thing was a great tease... and I'll argue he should not have won because it makes you hate Del Rio just that much more. The only thing better would have been Jerry Lawler winning and facing the Miz at Mania.

Royal Rumble... Well shit, Punk is #1. I could see Punk as the Ironman in this... and BD is #2. Loving the little mini-Punk vs. BD battle going on. Eh, Dibiase sorta killed this match dead. That Morrison spot was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. When Nexus had 3 guys in, they probably should have eliminated everyone else save for Morrison or BD until Masters came in. OK, they did it when Otunga came in and disposed of everyone so that was smart. Too bad BD got dropped though and the crowd let a big groan when he was out as well. The people went batshit for Booker. Too bad he got dropped so quickly. I only hope the same fate awaits Nash. Cena clearing out Nexus kinda threw me up for a loop becuase I was expecting a Nexus-Corre matchup... and oh well, Cena takes out Punk. OK, a bunch of funny Hornswaggle stuff... I chuckled. Fuck it. Nothing really going on but then WE WANT DIESEL. WTF? The same crowd that cheered for BD and Punk went batshit for Diesel. Man, the crowd was flat when Del Rio won but were insane when Santino popped back in. I don't know man, There were some good spots and Nash and Booker were OVER but I think they need to stick with just 30 guys.

The Miz vs. Randy Orton - Another solid outing between these two. Not as good as the RAW match last month or as hot as the SD match. I do wish they would just give Miz a clean win sometime. Hell, even the Hoky Tonk Man capitalized on his opponents's mistakes once in a while.

I have a soft spot for these type of threads so I'll start it. Man, Ziggler is quickly becoming one of my favorite guys. I really don't like most Edge matches but by the end, I was into this almost entirely due to Ziggler and his facials after trying so hard to put Edge out but unable to seal the deal. The early portion of the match was "Eh" but it picked up in the end with the Vicki interference and Edge trying alternative ways to put Ziggler away. I also like Edge's half ass sharpshooter. I don't know what he is trying to do with it but it looked ok.
