[2011-08-20-PWG-Battle of Los Angeles] Kevin Steen vs Fit Finlay
This was lots of fun! Finlay looked like he was trying to throwback to the days of his feud with Regal in WCW, amping up the stiffness, and Steen found an opening by going after Finlay's leg, and even makes it ultimately matter by winning with the sharpshooter. The stiffness and intensity make this seem like a grudge match, not the opening round of a tournament.

Where does Sting fit in WWE today?
This. He'd be a great addition to the legends round table, if they decide to resurrect them, and he's perfect for things like documentaries, and have him and Flair do commentary on their first Clash of Champions match or something.

WWE World Title Picture For The Next Few Months
I would think that Evolution/Shield is similar to the Shield/Wyatt match from the Chamber, an all out war. I agree that Evolution should win, but the match should go in such a manner that the Shield's stock still rises. Reigns can hit his big moves on HHH, and have the ref get pulled out to save him. I think Bryan/Kane should wind up being somewhat similar to the Bryan/HHH RAW match, with the Evolution run in to try to help Kane, and then the Shield making the save to getting their heat back, maybe with them running off Orton and Batista and then hitting the powerbomb on HHH, and with the playing field level, Bryan is able to beat Kane.

Koko B. Ware
My first non-Birdman look at Koko was in the UWF, he hits UWF jobber Gustavo Mendoza with the mother of all dropkicks. It even winds up being in their intro video.

Kane? Really?
I'll repeat what I said in the massive WWE thread. What happened last night is completely forgiveable. Bryan got to show up, after having the week off, and give the fans their huge pop. Then, they did the angle with Kane laying him out, so that he could GTFO of there and deal with more pressing matters. I wouldn't be surprised if they wheeled him to the back and then he and Brie hopped right in the car and took off.

Current WWE
How incessant were the Albert chants? I remember when the Wyatt Family first showed up, the fans were chanting "Husky Harris" at Bray, but they stuck it out, and Bray is pretty darn over right now. RE: Russev, the jury is still out for me too. It'd be easy to write him off, but I'm remembering just how over Umaga got in 2006, so I think there's still some hope.

Shoots Review and Preview thread
Sean usually is very good about keeping guys reined in like that. The only exception is Cornette, since his tangents are usually more entertaining than what they're talking about. I remember during the Jannetty shoot, when Jannetty was about to get sidetracked and asked if he could tell a story Sean said something like "I'll get on the train, but you have to get to the station."

What are you watching?
I've been trying to watch the 2011 Battle of Los Angeles. But, Hero vs. Willie Mack keeps literally putting me to sleep. I've sat down with it twice now, and fallen asleep both times.

Current WWE
The Bryan thing is entirely forgivable. He got to make his appearance to get the crowd amped, heat up his upcoming title match with Kane, and then GTFO and deal with more important things.

[1992-07-04-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Cactus Jack
Cactus seems to like the line about the lump in the throat. Didn't he cut a similar promo on Sting when he first came back?

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
It could go all Ryback though... That's a very real possibility. Highly doubt it. Ryback ended up flopping because they kept putting him in high profile matches were him winning wasn't seen as the best scenario by the company (vs Punk, Shield and Cena) until he was just another guy and ended up in the dreaded midcard limbo. With Reigns, it seems they'll be pretty comfortable putting him over pretty much anyone. I also think Roman has way more potential than Ryback so having more patience/faith in him makes sense. Wasn't the fact that Ryback showed no discernible improvement in his work, also a factor in them giving up on him?

Legitimate badasses
If you believe Kevin Von Erich, Gino Hernandez was one of the least tough guys in the business. The only guy who's ass that Gino could kick was Ox Baker, so Gino found an excuse to do it every time he and Ox were in the same building.

[1992-07-04-USWA-Memphis TV] Eddie Gilbert and Ricky Morton
Eddie finally unseats Lawler and has the title! Eddie brings out Ricky Morton, because he thinks they're so much alike. But, Ricky isn't down with what Eddie is saying and tells him as such. Ricky gets the better of him in the ring, and he's ready for a match.

[1992-07-04-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett vs The Moondogs
I'm a bit surprised. I figured the Moondogs were taking the titles back here. But, no complaints, with how long the Moondogs had been winning, it was time for the babyfaces to have some fun.

Razor teaches all the bambinos to forget about school and what they learn in books. They only need to know that they need to take what they want to be successful. Then, he gives Carlito his gimmick.
