The WWE HOF audience makes me embarrassed to be a wrestling fan
Bix, I don't disagree with your original point in the least. It's very fucked up to hear people cheer the mere mention of his name, especially while riding Cena's ass all night. I'd chalk it up to people just wanting to be different for the hell of it. And the Benoit defenders are quite annoying. The WWE's attempt to erase him has almost him a victim of sorts. However (and no, I'm not trolling I'm being dead serious here), is it really that hard to separate Benoit the wrestler from Benoit the person? I accepted it a long time ago: What Chris Benoit did is a tragedy and is both unforgivable and unforgettable. I doubt any wrestling fans can ever think of Benoit without remembering what did that weekend. That said, it doesn't, nor should it (IMO) change that fact that he was amongst the best wrestlers in the world and spent a good number of years putting on matches that a good number of us enjoyed.

2008 MOTYCs
Flair vs. Michaels from last night is probably my current MOTY.

Most "natural" wrestlers
Shinjiro Ohtani is the only of the New Japan rookies who seemed to get a decent push early on, and show he had the talent to back it up.

Most "natural" wrestlers
I haven't any of his pre-WCW work to judge myself, but what about Scotty The Body/Scotty Flamingo/Raven? He said in his shoot that he was only in wrestling school for about a month when Larry Sharpe told him he had everything down and just needed to work in front of a crowd.

2008 MOTYCs
I'll echo the love for the Jericho/Hardy title change. But so far that's about it from what I've seen. A lot of people were going nuts for the Doi/Yoshino vs. Shingo/Hulk GHC Jr. Tag Title match from Dragon Gate, but I wasn't that nuts about it.

Buyrates
How well did No Mercy do last year? I know there was a big buzz for it, with Cena's injury and the possible return of Jericho.

WWE DVDs Planned for 2008
Well with him getting his second suspension for wellness violation, now we'll have an answer in twenty years. I'm wondering if Hardy's drug issues will make their way into his portion of the DVD at all?

Jeff Hardy suspended for 60 days
Yeah, Kennedy is. So far it's Carlito, Shelton, Kennedy, MVP, and Jericho. Someone on another forum mentioned how the suspension made JR's 'bright future' comments make more sense. I saw the match, but for the life of me cannot remember any comments. What did Ross say?

The ALL PURPOSE Dan Spivey Thread
Some people (read: Scott Keith) have pimped a Spivey/Luger match for the WCW U.S. Title from, I believe a Clash of Champions in '91. I've never seen it, but that's about the only thing that comes to mind, other than the Waylon Mercy stuff . . . y'know what I mean?

The ALL PURPOSE Akitoshi Saito Thread
He's been in a few good tag matches in NOAH. I haven't seen anything notable from him in singles. Folks have said his 10/04 GHC Match with Kobashi was good, but I haven't seen it. - w/ Akiyama vs. Morshima/Rikio 9/23/02 (GHC Tag Titles) - w/ Akiyama vs. Kobashi/Shiga 10/9/02 (GHC Tag Titles) - w/ Akiyama vs. Honda/Sugiura 3/1/03 - w/ Akiyama/Izumida vs. Morishima/Rikio/Ikeda 3/16/03 - w/ Akiyama vs. Kobashi/Honda 6/6/03 (GHC Tag Titles) - w/ Inoue vs. Misawa/Ogawa 9/10/04 (GHC Tag Titles)

ROH scaling back
Age of the Fall are heels right? What would Bill Watts have done in '84 if he found out his heels were being inspirational to fans. And not in the 'inspiring them to go to shows and try to charge the ring and kill them' kind of way?

ROH scaling back
If Eric is real, I'm wondering why ROH went this route to help him out. They could have just donated a bunch of shit and gotten a tax write off from it.
-
ROH scaling back
I seem to recall a blurb in the WON from not too long after the Bix/Gabe verbal exchange on WOL, mentioning that ROH wanted to book him, but that TNA has nixed it.

ROH scaling back
Maybe it's just me being overly cynical, but considering ROH's recent run of bad luck, there is maybe a 2% chance this is actually legit.

ROH scaling back
Hold the phone. Sapolsky is doing a rape angle, but he's worried that the guys swearing in their promos will drive away families and kids.

Doug Furnas
I always thought it was a bit strange that during the Legend ceremony at Night of Legends Doug Furnas got honored. He'd only had seven or so years under his belt at the time. I've only ever heard of couple of his matches pimped (the usual suspects), but they were all tags w/ Kroffat. I remember him having a fun match with Lafon during the '95 Carnival. I've seen a bit of his work in Continental in '88, and vaguely recall him from WCW in '90. Did he have a very notable career? Or was it just case of him being a sort of hometown boy in Knoxville?

ROH worker leaks email from Gabe Sapolsky to the DOI
You know if he'd stuck to his guns about levying fines for swearing, Homicide would have been paying Gabe to wrestle for ROH.

ROH scaling back
It's sad, but true. A lot of people don't seem to be able to grasp the notion that you can criticise something, while still liking it.

Comments that don't warrant a thread
I'm recalling Mike Tenay saying that Fit Finlay actually retired Wright. Does anyone have an idea where one could find their matches together?

I came out of that tag match feeling the same way. And now I've got a trios match, and singles match (probably the same one Loss saw) to look forward to.

Loss, which match of his were you referring to? The one I'd seen was actually a tag match. It was TM and Kengo Kimura against Wright and Blackman, from the Tiger Mask "1st Dimension" commercial tape. It was clipped up, but most of what was shown were TM/Wright exchanges which were fabulous. I just ordered the six volume set from IVP, which has another tag match, and a singles between them for the WWF Jr. Title.

ROH scaling back
I got banned because I didn't think that bringing in Misawa was a good idea. My own personal theory about Gabe is that he sees himself as being a modern Paul Heyman. And thus, doesn't think fans should be questioning his booking or direction of the company. Because back in the days of the old ECW, fans never would have done that to Paul.

I'm guessing it was a combo of his speed and athleticism, and because the Tiger Mask character was popular with the kids. Did Sayama ever do any jobs as Tiger Mask? All of his title losses were him vacating due to injury and/or retirement.
