It's been a long time since I heard the story but Jack was a guy who was easy to piss off especially at that time and Austin did something to make him furious. Jack had also not too long got out of jail and he was on the edge most of the time.

Chad Austin had pissed off New Jack sometime before the match I can't remember if it was the day of or whatever but Jack took the opportunity to beat the holy hell out of Austin during the match. Extremely stiff chair shots and hard punches. Joey Styles on commentary was even noting how serious this beating was.

The news of the day is that WWE.com actually posted the infamous Gangstas vs. Chad Austin/Blue Meanie match.

Talking with casual fans the past couple of days every one of them thought that Cena winning was the right finish because Cena was getting his ass kicked for over a month and he needed to get the win. Most of these fans are glad that Brock is "gone" and don't want him back mainly because they see him as a UFC guy. A couple of them said that if they wanted to see something like Brock they would watch UFC and don't want that mixed in with WWE.

He was a hot babyface in JCP in early 1984 before leaving for WWF.

I have had the same group of guys come over and watch PPV's for shit 10 years now and that match was maybe the only time where they actually thought shit was real. These guys aren't smarks they just watch the TV and ask me for news and shit but they know the deal and they were snookered in. A couple of the guys were screaming that Lesnar should be fired for destroying Cena like that and these guys aren't Cena fans.

I think WWE is finally getting what they wanted as looking at comments on Twitter there are a lot of people confessing they are/were Cena haters but now they respect him and think he is a badass tough guy.

I'm thinking that the story is that Cena won a shoot and he thinks he will be fired by Big Johnny because he wasn't supposed to win but won anyway.

I am imagining guys sitting at a table describing their moods when using weapons and how they weren't really like that in real life.

Davey is just revolutionizing the business. I'm waiting for someone to come up the concept of ending shows with an in-ring roundtable discussion with wrestlers and fans (those willing to pay $100 for the experience of course) where everyone discusses and critiques the night's performance. That is one of the greatest things I've read in a long while.

Simmons is a wrestling guy anyway so don't be shocked if Dave doesn't do wrestling columns there as well.
