Guest Booker w/ Terry Taylor
When the deal went down was also the time that Duggan had just got popped for drugs and was fired so he was looking to get in with JCP but they felt his drug deal got too much mainstream coverage and they declined him. I dug DiBiase the babyface personally in that time period because he was still an aggressive worker and there was always the threat he would break out the black glove when needed. Compare DiBiase the babyface in 1986 to DiBiase the babyface in 1981 and then you will see boring. Also regarding Flair and his insecurity of course he and I'm sure all the major players in JCP didn't want UWF to be perceived as their equals.

Dave Meltzer stuff
This actually made the news update today. At least it wasn't the top story.

Guest Booker w/ Terry Taylor
The way I would've went with this angle was at the start have the UWF heels invade JCP and the JCP heels fire back on UWF TV eventually leading to a Best of 7 series at Starrcade to determine who is the best. Also they had the chance to keep DiBiase but didn't offer him enough money which was a big mistake as a babyface DiBiase vs. Flair for the NWA title would've been fantastic.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Well it's worked out well for him as he is slotted to be champ till Mania.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Dave is upset that Punk won't criticize how he has been booked which would be a stupid career move on his part.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Of all the stuff going on in wrestling around the world, this is what is your top headline in today's update.

Meltz was jacked in that black shirt

Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
We all know the best rumor that year was every week HBK was going to be on Nitro joining the nWo especially after the infamous pic hit the news boards.

Ridiculous quotes from WO.com columnists
I'm no Ben Miller fan but Dave killing columns because it paints a possible negative light on precious UFC is stupid. God forbid anyone criticize them.

Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
Hindsight is always 20/20 so we would never know what would've happened. To get back on topic and tying JCP & World Class together. Meltz had numerous stories in Spring 1988 that Crockett was looking to buy World Class and farming out all the old UWF talent and others familiar to the market there. That would've been fun.

Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
I have no belief in what happened other than he ODed but he had some shady shit going on around him then.
-
Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
It wasn't the coke it was the people in the Metroplex that he had dealings with that eventually killed him.
-
Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
It was Gino solo from what I heard years ago as Dusty & Flair were fans of his and they thought that a move to JCP could've helped him stay alive.
-
Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
The ultimate Gino story was that he was pegged to replace Ole in the Horsemen while he took time off but his death hit first.

Dave Meltzer stuff
itbegins is definitely not for Kane since they aired a Kane video on the show.

Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
Roddy Piper had a verbal contract with Jim Herd to go to NWA in 1989 but Vince sweet talked him out of it.

Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
Greg Valentine was being rumored for months in late 87/early 88 to be going to JCP to replace Luger in the Horsemen.

2011 Observer Hall of Fame thread
Still too early to put Tanahashi in. He has way more to go in his career.

Until the Fertittas make good with the unions then they are DOA.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Dave wrote quite the thorough obit for Joe Frazier in the WON this week which kinda surprised me but only wrote a little more of a paragraph for Killer Karl Kox in the same issue.

When was Ric Flair at his most evil?
John, I was at the shows after Flair turned on Dusty and sure he was "evil" he was still heavily cheered by his fans. When it came to outside territories Flair was hated everywhere.
-
When was Ric Flair at his most evil?
The thing about Flair was that he had no chance at being really evil after he was a face in JCP and had his own fanbase. He was at his most evil during his pre-JCP expansion era run through the territories.

Down goes Frazier!
I wish that Meltz covered boxing back when Sugar had his big ceremony where he was supposed to announce his fight with Hagler in 1983 with Cosell by his side and Hagler in the crowd before swerving everyone and announcing the fight would never happen with the camera going to Hagler who looked like he was about to explode. Sugar Ray Leonard was a fantastic pretty boy heel.

Down goes Frazier!
John, try taking on the career of Sugar Ray Leonard
