[1999-11-22-WWF-Raw] HHH vs The Acolytes (Handicap)
For a 1999 main event segment the fans really don't care.

[1999-11-22-WWF-Raw] The Rock & ?? vs Big Show & Prince Albert
Really fun segment. It kind of feels like this whole arc could set up a Mankind/Rock feud with Mankind as the heel, which would have been interesting. It especially felt that way a month ago with Foley sulking over Rock throwing away his book. I wonder if that was ever the intended direction.

[1999-11-21-WCW-Mayhem] Bret Hart vs Chris Benoit
The work we saw here looked good. More competitive and less exhibitiony than their October match.

For what it is, this is a pretty good segment. The Piper/Russo interaction was good.

[1999-11-09-BattlARTS] Yuki Ishikawa & Mohammed Yone vs Kazunari Murakami & Daisuke Ikeda
Murakami also rules in the 1/4/2000 Hashimoto tag and in a 2002 title match vs. Nagata. This match is great and everyone is awesome in it. Yone really unleashes some vicious kicks on Murakami when they're in together. Murakami and Ishikawa match up really well, of course. I watched this last night before going to bed so it's no so fresh in my mind as to really pick out my favorite moments but this is a really great match. This Battlearts card was something.

[1999-11-09-BattlARTS] Alexander Otsuka vs Mitsuhiro Matsunaga
Holy shit, this was awesome! Is this the most stylistically ridiculous match of all time? A worked shoot brawl with fireballs and forks. And damn did it work. The brawling aspect was really wild and Matsunaga's act with the fork was great, loved him going for the submission by working over the HAND with the fork and trying to hide it from the ref. Loved Otsuka's first big come back with the great looking dive and his second comeback blocking the fork and hitting big headbutts, before grabbing the fork and going to town himself. Cool ending with a nice submission.

[1999-11-08-BJW] Tomoaki Honma & Ryuji Yamakawa vs Shadow WX & The Winger (Death)
Damn this was wild. Definitely the deathiest death match on the set. Some decent enough wrestling to start and then Honma and Yamakawa just get killed. I liked Honma being taken out by the powerbomb to the outside and then him just crawling around ringside trying to recover as Shadow and Winger destroy Yamakawa. The fire senton was really a wild spot. Honma finally makes it back into the match and they blitz Shadow and Winger with huge moves before ending it with an avalance superplex, which nicely had been teased earlier in the match, onto light tubes. Really fun with some wild spots.

[1999-11-04-WWF-Smackdown] Mankind & Al Snow vs Hardcore & Crash Holly
Ha, lots of fun stuff in this segment. Match was pretty good and the post-match stuff was a lot of fun, from Snow with the milk to Foley looking for Val. As to the commentators addressing the action figure controversy, even 1999 WWF stands a level above tendentious postmodern cultural critique in terms of seriousness and respectability.

1999 MOTY List
Updated after watching October. I somehow skipped a lot of September and August after not watching anything for a couple months so I'll have to go back to watch those matches.

[1999-10-30-AJPW-October Giant Series] Vader vs Mitsuharu Misawa
Really great match. This definitely had the feel of the two guys in wrestling who throw the biggest bombs unloading on each other non stop until one prevailed. I really liked the struggle in the corner over Vader's first German suplex in the beginning, after which the match took off. Big German suplexes in general in this match from Misawa and Vader. Misawa's Tiger Suplex here looked especially nasty. With the nonstop huge moves, which were never shrugged off and all felt as big a deal as they should, this really felt like an epic triple crowd title match in just 12 minutes. This has to be up there in Vader's best Japanese matches. THE best?

[1999-10-25-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin & The Rock vs New Age Outlaws
The entrances are really something, all these guys are over huge. And it leads to a really fun match. Cool dynamic with the top two singles faces vs. the top tag team. A star studded Attitude Era RAW main event isn't something you expect to be worked like a southern tag and they do a pretty good job of it here. Good babyface 'shine', sort of an awkward face in peril but still executed well enough with the crowd really into it, and a short but hot comeback from the Rock. Rock gets pinned by a spinning heel kick! Really good stuff, one of the better WWF matches of the year.

[1999-10-23-ECW-Philadlphia, PA] Spike Dudley vs Little Guido vs Super Crazy
Spike is a cool addition to the combinations of Guido/Tajiri/Crazy. I really liked the three way portion of this match. The Crazy/Guido stuff at the end was still pretty good but not at the level of the triple threat stuff.

[1999-10-24-WCW-Halloween Havoc] Goldberg vs Sting
The stuff with the title is like that February Hogan/Flair match. If Goldberg actually did win the title here, with all the shit on this show at least they're putting Goldberg over as the top guy again. Something tells me it's not going to work out that way though. Kind of a fun short match I though.

[1999-10-23-AJPW-October Giant Series] Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa vs Kenta Kobashi & Jun Akiyama
Started off super hot with especially great stuff coming from Ogawa and Ogawa and Misawa's chemistry as a team but lost me toward the middle. The end stuff felt more tedious than epic. There was plenty of good stuff in the match but overall it I wasn't too impressed outside the first several minutes.

Lucha Underground Season 2 debuts tonight.
I was worried they were going to go way overboard like they did with some the Sexy Star stuff and give Ivelisse way too much offense but they pretty much did everything perfect.

Lucha Underground Season 2 debuts tonight.
Season 2 debut was awesome. Continues to totally blow away all other television wrestling anywhere. The wrestling, angles and vignettes totally delivered. Thank God it's back.

[2016-01-16-Revolution Pro-High Stakes] Will Ospreay vs Marty Scurll
Impressive spotfest but the kind of match that makes me think more about what was wrong with it than what was good. These guys could have a hell of a match if they learned to sell and build up a match rather than throwing everything out nonstop with no importance placed on any of the moves or spots.
