Ric Flair (sigh)
I don't really see that. Who would the Horsemen have worked with? Which heels were really "huge" in that era? They'd have been reduced to the midcard in a matter of months.

This was my argument and I won it. But this piece was written a week and a half ago, so it took some time and forcing the issue up the chain. I thought it was worth the effort. Thanks for all your feedback.

The Sad, Strange Decline of Ric Flair
Thanks. Correction made.

Ric Flair (sigh)
I actually had to cut some things out. Apparently it was too long. They actually wanted to cut it further, practically in half and I had a mini-fit. So, all that became: I think it's funny that moves like this make Hogan and Nash EVIL but no one mentions it when its Flair or Steamboat....

Ric Flair (sigh)
On WWF TV, it was a match that was taking place all over the country. Both Hogan and Flair talked about it, not just with local promos, but also in features on the shows. There was that "I acknowledge you" promo by Hogan, and a number of ones by Flair. They just never had a match on TV or PPV, discounting the MSG pair that aired on the MSG Network. I will adjust for this. Yo Bix—this is why I send these things to you first.

The Sad, Strange Decline of Ric Flair
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1710735...mpion-ric-flair I think Flair's decline is all about wrestling. The rest is just collateral damage.

Can someone smarter than me help hook this up?

Do you have dropbox? That may be easiest? What file sizes are we talking here?

I would like it all if possible.

Crowdsourcing: Ric Flair drinking/spending stories
Any good stories of him picking up tabs at the bar and such? Even personal stories welcome.

The JTTS
Although this guy may not, I appreciate you guys using his "theories" to teach me stuff about wrestling.

The "Confirmed Stories of Triple H Being A Total Douchebag" Thread
Where did you meet him? I met him a long time ago and he was a cool guy. I interviewed Hunter and Stephanie at the grand opening of the WWE Performance Center. Cool stuff Jon. In comparison, how did Steph come off as? She was amazing.

The "Confirmed Stories of Triple H Being A Total Douchebag" Thread
So, I met Triple H yesterday and he was charming, self deprecating and looked at his wife like they were still newlyweds. A lot to admire about the man. Just throwing that out there....

Dave Meltzer stuff
I think they're part of the work. Also suspect that a massive amount of the alleged "purse" never comes remotely close to the fighter. John A typical boxer is paying out 30% of his purse to his manager and trainer. Which is fairly staggering. Then there is an astronomical built in price for their training camps. This is where other hangers on come with their hands out.

Dave Meltzer stuff
That's an incredible encapsulation of the wrestling ethos. I'm stealing that for something.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
That's great. I've gotten similar messages from people in the fight game. It seems to attract the thin skinned.

Dave Meltzer stuff
What's to explain? Marks will pay him for it. Why make it for free?

Crowdsourcing: Great mullets and perms
Who had the best/worst mullets and perms in the 1970's and 1980's—and beyond?

Early Hulk Hogan
If Hogan told someone that he struggled early in his wrestling career and considered going back to working on the docks or something—that would be an enormous lie right? From what I can tell he was wrestling Andre his first year and competing with Jack Brisco and Harley his second. He was a star from the very beginning right? Anyone have a good idea how often, if ever, he lost by pinfall in those days? It seems like "never" is the answer. It's hard to imagine someone more carefully protected and pushed throughout his career. Tell me why I'm wrong, if I am. Please? Trying very hard not to be worked by the workers.

The canon
I don't think Backlund is an important part of the hardcore wrestling fan's lexicon. Discussion of him as a great is limited to very small subset of a subset of wrestling fans.

The canon
In my era the ECW Michinoku Pro sixman tag was a must-see match as were the Rey-Psicosis matches from ECW and the 1995 Super J Cup. There was a time Lyger-Sano and Lyger-Sasuke were also considered mandatory viewing.

I worked in the White House for two years when GWB was President. So I have no depths to which I won't sink.

If not Backlund who?
You also have to consider that his trainer was a pain in the ass and his dad was a pain in the ass. Not sure he didn't come into the business with baggage.
