Back in 97 I thought they screwed up the elimination order a bit and "Diesel" was supposed to be eliminated before Austin, but watching this back it is obvious that he is there for Bret to be distracted. I guess the rationale for having a final four instead of a final five is that Jacobs was eliminated by Bret and not by Austin. Yeah, it was just the guys who were tossed by the guy who should have been eliminated.

I've been power watching this to get ready for the next show, and it's fucking great. I feel like I'm 9 again, as a lot of wrestling then to me was just something on TV I'd watch occasionally on WOR, and I liked it..but it hadn't really grabbed me yet as I was way more into anything animated or reading comic books, so it's mainly hazy memories of certain guys and characters. This is filling in those memories so amazingly. I'm not gonna spoil anything....but that Backlund/ Hussein Arab match is fucking awesome. I can't wait to talk about it.

Ah, horseshit. This idea that WCW fans liked good wrestling and WWF fans liked flash and no substance is nerd jacking off bullshit. I never got the whole "I like this promotion so I hate this promotion" tripe. Who REALLY does that? It's silly to "take sides". Wrestling is wrestling and its awesome no matter what initials are on the screen.

Smackdown this past week was fucking awesome. Orton/ RVD was a blast, as they bring out the best in each other. Bryan/ Wade and Alberto/ Christian were both really, really good. The Brock promo was fucking money, and the Bray Wyatt promo was KILLER. Kofi/ Fandango was good and that posting Kofi took was sick. Even the Ziggler/ Kaitltn/ AJ/ Big E stuff was pretty good. And the Sandow/ Cody stuff at the end was hot, given that up to now, it's been a lukewarm break-up. And the crowd was fuckin' hot. Great show.

Parv, you answer your own question. If the crowd was hot for it....it was successful. You can't compete Backlunds WWWF face title run with Bockwinkel's AWA heel title run. And Garea ruled.

The guy from the country that idolized big daddy not getting Backlund is fantastic.

Backlund was fucking over and had a ton of personality. Saying he was as boring as Dory jr is silly. And the reason why guys looked like gangsters was cause they were. And Skaaland managed Bruno as well as Backlund. He totally was a wrestler , and a good one.

I love that Parv wants to fuck young Greg Valentine.

The difference between a real sports team and wrestling is is that wrestling is fake. To keep people coming back to local shows was the same thing as keeping people coming to the Ice Capades or Harlem Globetrotters shows. You killed a town back then by putting on a show no one wanted to go to anymore for whatever reason.

They just might have Orton cash in and lose. Imagine the pop if that happened. Bryan is HOT right now, and I think it's a possible scenario.

As far as Bossman in 99 goes, I always figured that Vince always liked him, didn't have a problem with him leaving and going to WCW (besides the Boss copyright infringement ), and was willing to showcase him to stick it to WCW by showing that they wasted this guy.

I'll throw this out there as well. With no Crockett expansion into Philadelphia, there would never have been an ECW for better or worse.

It's kind of cool that Paul Heyman's career started as an awesome manager, and after everything, he's back as an awesome manager.

That is so fucking bad ass. Oh, and Mark Henry and The Usos cleaning house on The Shield on SD was fucking awesome.
