That's fine, but saying that women should be treated as a side show attraction (like minis) because they never drew, when they were never put into a position to draw seems ridiculous to me. Ok since MY opinion is "ridiculous" exactly why are the women indisputably a better draw than minis? Kids make up a big part of the wrestling audience too and I'm more inclined to believe that trying to draw kids is a better way to make money than trying to draw women. There is a whole lot more evidence that kids will tune in to a wrestling show in large numbers than women will. What can you actually bring to the table for your side of this argument other than "it works in NXT" and I "I think more women will watch"? Children and minis are not the same. Minis are small men, not children. It works in NXT and joshi was huge in Japan when it was a hugely pushed thing. What other reason would you need to try? 5 years ago, yeah, there wasn't the talent. Now, you have Sasha and Charlotte who you can build around. Thank you for talking to me like I'm a fucking idiot. I did not know that kids and minis are not the same. I thought it was some slick thing Mexican promoters were doing to get around child labor laws. Also why are you now bringing joshi into the argument when you dismissed SHIMMER earlier because it's "completely a women's promotion"? Stage. AJW had a WWE level of stage. SHIMMER is an indie.

There is none. It's just a thought, since they don't get many women viewers. Has an increase in female viewership ever been attributable to female talent? Have they ever treated women talent well? I'm referring to any promotion ever. Outside of joshi groups in Japan, when have female fans packed the house to see female talent? At the end of the day wrestling is more like sports than other TV/entertainment, which mean its going to attract a heavier male audience. When was a time that women were put into a position to draw outside of joshi? I can think of one place, NXT, and it worked.

why? Why wouldn't women get excited to watch a woman succeed?

Sasha and Charlotte have as much potential to draw as Seth Rollins, Big Show, Randy Orton and Kane do.

  9. What kind of starting time would work for everybody. I'm not too interested in 1970, like Parv, as I don't know much from then. Something like 83 or 85 would be pretty awesome. There was a lot of talent then.

Because it's too much work. There's dozens more immediate problems they should be focusing on before the women. I think the treatment of women by the WWE actually turns off a percentage of their viewers, so it should be an immediate issue.

I'm not saying you should. What I am saying is that if you treat women with respect and give them opportunities and treat their matches as actual respectful matches, then after time, you should be able to headline some B-ppvs with women. Why is that not something worth trying?
  12. I like that idea, especially it being PWO.

Sasha or Charlotte can not be Rousey? I don't see how you can think women's wrestling has to be niche, when in NXT, it is shown it can be on equal footing. Also, comparing ROH/PWG to SHIMMER is so far off point. SHIMMER is completely a women's promotion and is nothing like the others.
  14. Over the last year there has been some podcasts doing a draft and then fantasy booking cards that go with that. Also, through this subform, there has been some fantasy booking interest. This is a thread to see if there is interest for some kind of major draft continually going forward booking ongoing project. Whether we pick from anyone in history, or pick a specific time and go forward with it? Kind of like a wrestling draft and booking D&D game. Maybe post weekly cards here, or whatever. Make trades, random determine injuries and free agency or however it would work. Let's use this thread to gauge interest and if there is interest to hammer out the idea.

That is a great match, but if that is the best he has he is not top 100. I liked his performance a lot, but there is a high bar to pass to get on the list.

How does the WWE differ from UFC for audiences? Yes, women's wrestling is seen that way now. That is why you have to re-condition the fans. Why is that not possible?
  17. Grimmas replied to Grimmas's topic in WWE
Things work for two reasons in NXT: 1) Stuff is tailored to hardcore fans. 2) Things have been built up and the fans have been conditioned to like it over time. Women's wrestling is something that can be conditioned to be liked and the hardcore fans like it. There is no non-sexist reason that the WWE could not headline some shows with women in the future. If there is, please let me know.

I think people are over estimating just how much of the regular WWE audience would accept that. I mean, I guess they could eventually get there but it would seriously take at least a full year of reconditioning the audience to not see the Divas as the chance to go buy merchandise/food. And even then I'm not sure because the most "hardcore smark" crowd all year is the post-Mania Raw crowd and they are the ones who completely shit on the Divas and treated like they only exist to have sex with the male roster. I'm not saying tomorrow, I'm saying over time with re-conditioning. I discount your hardcore smark crowd, because that is what NXT is and it works there.
