[GWE] Taking nights off
There is a lot of talk about since this person took nights off, they won't get my vote. Do you, personally, penalize someone for that? Is a peak or how they work when motivated less important than how they are on each and every show?

It's so strange to see New Jack wrestle to this generic rap song talking about the ghetto.

The Minis Thread
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt66lzOxRQo Everybody talks about the greatness of Portland wrestling, but what happens when they bring in the "Battling Midgets"? Yes, that is how Don Owen announces this match. So this one is Tokyo Joe (I think, Little Tokyo) vs. LIttle Mr. T (Haiti Kid). Outside of Tokyo's chops and T's airplane spin that makes Tokyo dizzy which means he fails at doing an airplane spin, this match wasn't great. They did this horrible sequence with the referee that reminded me how bad comedy could be. First, the referee picks up Tokyo and places him in the corner. Later on, T does a giant swing which makes Tokyo dizzy (yes, a second dizzy spot) then T does an airplane spin to the referee which allows Tokyo to pin the referee and T to count along. Yuck. The whole thing finishes with a T bombs away splash from the top. I wouldn't recommend this one, unless you want to see some decent chops by Tokyo, along with him being dizzy and then acting happy that he won a match (even if he didn't). Tokyo was the star here.

Ambrose vs Rollins in the Cell is a match I am more excited for than any since Wyatts-Shield. I sure hope they deliver.

The Minis Thread
I like minis wrestling, I really do. I haven't seen a lot of it, but from what I've seen I've always enjoyed. In this thread I am going to watch as much as minis as possible. Mascarita Dorada vs Pierrothito (2/3 Falls, New Rochelle, NY, 2010/3/20) I didn't know what to expect with this being in an American Indie Fed, but I was really happy with the result. The first fall is Dorada going after the arm and doing some mat work, a real fun beginning to this one. Pierrothito takes over with his weight and does some power moves to get the first fall. Something great about Dorada is his size. Since he's so small, each slam and throw looks even more vicious. The second fall is all Pierrothito as he throws Dorada around and puts up some submissions. PIerrothito isn't too great here, as he'll slap on a hold and release it in no time then slap on another. He does do this weird Hold Dorada above his head on the floor and walk around spot, until he just tosses him in the ring. Dorada does some good selling though. Dorada's come back was great as well. He might be one of the best high spot wrestlers around. He locks in this really cool arm and head submission to take the second fall. The third fall is all excitement. Great slams by Pierrothito. Great high spots by Dorada. Eventually Dorada traps him in a pinning hold for the win. This one ranges from 3 to 3.5 stars. It reminded me a lot of those touring Rey-Psicsosis matches. Due to pre-match stips the evil manager of Pierrothito gets his head shaved and luckily Dorada does not have to wear a dress. Mascarita Dorada vs. Pequeño Damián 666 (Lightning Match, CMLL, 2009/12/04) This one was fun as heck. Just the speed and innovations of Dorada are outstanding. There was some neat back and forth stuff to start. What I like about these, and to my pleasant surprise, is that these are just awesome wrestling matches with structure and build and not just spot fests. This isn't Dragon Gate, there is an actual sense of competition here. One of my favourite new spots is Dorada stomping on his opponent as he runs over him and then he does a springboard move. Lightning matches are not always my favourite, because they are so short and worked as a sprint, but this was real fun. Speaking of fun, there is no spot more fun than Dorada gaining more and more speed as he circles around his opponents neck and shoulders. He uses that to put Damian into a cradle for the win. Another fun match worth checking out. It only goes about 8 minutes, but is a real treat. About 2.5 to 3 stars.

Mascarita Dorada/El Torito
I just made a big youtube list of matches to watch for Dorada in hopes of nominating a mini wrestler and he is already nominated. I might have seen him once outside of the WWE, but in the WWE he's been really great. If you like crazy high spots and lots of speed in wrestling this is your guy.

The Nomination Thread
Is it cheating if I just link to this where there are reviews of Davey matches? Not mine but they're reviews. http://freewrestling.wordpress.com/tag/davey-richards/page/2/ Davey Richards is nominated and I hope everybody can be civil in that thread.

Was the Invasion always destined to fail?
I think there is a big myth that the invasion failed due to not bringing in big stars. The problem was not the level of star, the problem was the level that the guys were portrayed as. The invasion could had worked with the exact same talent they brought in, if that talent was made to look like threats. If DDP Diamond Cutted The Undertaker and left him for dead, he would had been a threat. If Booker T beat The Rock, he would had been a threat. Invasions are easy things to book, unless you are determined to make the invaders look not on your level.

People are forgetting the awesome Dennis Rodman match in his final year.

Pro-Wrestling Super Show: The Wrestler Snapshot #10 on Don Fuji
Glad you enjoyed the show. Alan and Dean were real fun to talk to. I tried to not complain too much about the Dragon Gate style even when I disliked it. However, Fuji was a guy that allowed me to watch that stuff. Fuji is great. The singles match I do not have links for, the six man is posted on the PWSS Tumbler @ prowrestlingsupershow.tumblr.com

Would this work? Legit schedules
Not necessarily. Look at hockey. Being a Leafs fan, every match against the Bruins, Habs and Senators are rivalry games that mean a lot. Those things would still exist, it would just be done completely differently. Plus, you'd have the post season to run a tournament plus blow off all of the feuds you'd built up in the season.

Crowd Chants
It's not a get off my lawn situation, because era or age has nothing to do with it from my end. They're also still fans, just not fans I really want to associate with because they would ruin my enjoyment of the wrestling we're watching. It's no different than the idiots at baseball games who hurl personal insults at the players, they're still fans, but my hubris comes over the fact that they are only interested in making the event all about them. But, this is the exact opposite of "hurling insults." This is showering praise on the wrestlers. I bet you every football, basketball, and baseball player in the world would love it if the crowds would chant "This is Awesome" after a home run, amazing catch, or whatever. However if the home crowd chanted "This is awesome!" when the road team tied the game up in the last minute to send it to overtime, the players on the home team would be pissed. That's the difference. "This is awesome" is a chant to say you like what is going on, it implies you don't care who wins. That is a problem with the actually company and wrestlers, not the fans.

Crowd Chants
I like that this stemmed out of the Daniel Bryan thread, because he was someone that the crowd actually cared whether he won or loss. Batista was booed out of the building for having the audacity to not be Bryan.

Crowd Chants
I did really enjoy the "This is awesome" chants before the Wyatts-Shield match this year.

Would this work? Legit schedules
Years back people talked about what wrestling should do to be more like sports. For some reason, today, that came back to me and I started to wonder about schedules. If a wrestling promotion started up with a 32 man roster and put together a full season with a schedule at the start of the year would that work? After that schedule you can have some sort of playoff post season and award the champion for that year. It would be different, but I think there could be a lot of positives coming out of that. For one, you could have two guys face on the first week and something happens that starts a rivalry. Then you know they will face again in 7 weeks on this date and get pumped for that. Then your playoffs could wind up all the story-lines that get built up all season. I doubt this would ever happen, but I am curious if this is something that could work. It works for real sports, why not fake sports too?
