Pro Wrestling Matches Hall of Fame
I like this idea. My main issue with drawing and context is, why should I care? It's great that a match drew a ton or was important to the history of wrestling, but ultimately all that matters to me is match quality. Not even in a workrate sense, but just that the match be of a certain quality. I have never read a compelling argument for why a match making money for a promoter should matter when it comes to that match being viewed as a great, good, bad, etc. match. To use an analogy, Transformers made a ton of money, it drew huge and one could argue that it's use of CG was important. But, neither of those things matter when it comes to the actual quality of the film. Wrestling and wrestling matches are the same, making money is great for those who get some of the money but otherwise it's a metric that has little to no value in a respectable "greatest of" discussion. (Unless of course that discussion is specifically about who drew the most/made the most money). Sight & Sound or AFI do not take into account how much money the movie made when making their greatest movies list.

I can't wait to listen to this, my two favourite podcasters together at last.

"Macho Madness: The Randy Savage Ultimate Collection"
Nothing else makes sense is not really a proof, because it's impossible to know every scenario possible to eliminate them.

Pro Wrestling Matches Hall of Fame
What kind of numbers is going to work out? Also, how is the voting going to work? Will it be ten matches like WON or some other system?
-
Pro Wrestling Matches Hall of Fame
but not so many nominees that nobody gets in.
-
Pro Wrestling Matches Hall of Fame
Probably should break stuff into time too. Like Pre-1980's should be a category.

Pro Wrestling Matches Hall of Fame
I like the ten year rule, more than 5. Gives more time for perspective.

Greatest of All-Time project Interest?
I'll watch as much Bull Nakano as I can... I'll try to keep an open mind on the rest.
-
Greatest of All-Time project Interest?
There will be a sub forum up soon and all of the talk can go in there.

Pro Wrestling Matches Hall of Fame
I've been pondering this exact idea for a year now.
-
Greatest of All-Time project Interest?
My goal is to watch a bit of everyone nominated. We'll see how that goes.

Greatest of All-Time project Interest?
It was a generic, is there anyone interested in this type of question. It's happening now, so hopefully the people who have shown interest will participate.

I think you would love Drew Gulak. Although, he'll never make the list.

Greatest of All-Time project Interest?
Here is my take, and we can discuss this. Footage has to be available for someone to be voted for. So that obviously rules out some people that are brought up as all time greats. Now, if we are voting based on the footage of guys we have seen (not on reputation) then I think that negates a lot about drawing. However, it doesn't completely eliminate it for this reason. Some people feel guys on the undercard aren't putting on great matches, because they aren't in the main event having more time and focus. So, it will have a bearing, whether obvious or not. For example, Hogan will be on a ballot, but not in the top tier.

Greatest of All-Time project Interest?
I'm completely game! Plus, I want to do a bunch of podcasts devoted to this as well.

Greatest of All-Time project Interest?
This concerns me a bit in that this seems like it will invariably exclude some wrestlers deserving of consideration. There is a simple work around which leads to the point of this. If you want to vote for someone that is not eligible, then you go ahead and make the thread and review the matches. If you think someone is overlooked, nominate someone and show why they are over looked. I think this is plus, not a negative. Everyone is eligible, if somebody wants to make the argument.

Greatest of All-Time project Interest?
Dylan and I have been discussing this for a while and I feel it is time to see if there is interest out there. The last time there was a major, greatest wrestling of all time voting process was 2006. I love the Sight & Sound best movie ever model of voting every 10 years, so doing a new poll in 2016 seems like a great idea to me. Here is my thoughts on this and how it should go. This is just a thread to see if there is interest or to see if there are ideas out there to make this whole process better. 1) Ballot due the day of WrestleMania of 2016. 2) You can only vote for eligible wrestlers. A wrestler becomes eligible if there is a microscope thread for him with at least three reviewed matches in it. 3) You vote for 100 wrestlers, no more or less. (Maybe negotiate a 50 or 100 ballot). 4) Weighted voting, so that top picks are valued more. So.. interest? Is this a worth while project?
