This one is really easy for me. Bret Hart Steve Austin Shawn Michaels I've said my piece about Bret before, but his psychology, selling and ability to have the best finish all the time sets him apart. Austin is great as a technician or a brawler, as a heel or a face. He's in my favourite match ever, against Bret at Survivor Series. Michaels I never really liked. He had some high end matches in the 90's, but not my cup of tea.
  2. The Hawaiian Connection: Don Muraco & Ricky Steamboat & Curtis Iaukea The Hart Foundation: Bret & Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith The Midnight Express: Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane & Dennis Condrey The Strike Force Flyers: Rick Martel & Tito Santana & Jim Brunzell The Blue Bloods: Fit Finlay & Steven Regal & Dave Taylor The Faces of Fear: The Barbarian & Meng & Papa Shango The West-Texas Rednecks: Barry Windham & Kendall Windham & Curt Hennig The Samoan Swat Team: Samu & Fatu & Yokozuna The Old Age Bastards: Terry Funk & Genichiro Tenryu & Mad Dog Vachon G.I. Joes: Sgt. Slaughter & Col. DeBeers & Prvt. Don Kernodle The Rock 'n' Roll Express: Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson & Marty Jannetty The Triple Towers: Akeem & Big Boss Man & Jerry Blackwell The Straight Edge Society: CM Punk & Luke Gallows & Joey Matthews The Four Horsemen: Ric Flair & Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson The Colossal Demolition: Ax & Smash & Andre the Giant (in facepaint) Team Memphis: Jerry Lawler & PG-13 That's a pretty good 16 team tournament, I would think.
  3. Haven't watched those, but I remember really liking the SNME match. Even though it has Jake coming down for distractions. Even that leads to the awesome "Heenan searching under the ring for Damien" section. Late 80's Andre is really underrated.
  4. The WWF Boston Gardens shows were always cool due to the distinctive floors.
  5. One thing I really love about Demolition is that they were one of the best teams at using actually teamwork. I don't mean double team moves, but tag team psychology. They cut off the ring, made quick tags, etc...
  6. Born and raised in Brockville (hour south of Ottawa) but have been in Ottawa for last few years. The WWF one house show in Brockville in 1993.
  7. I have to say I really enjoy this show. I have been listening to the Place to Be go through the WWE, but your show is real nice, because I'm not as well versed in WCW. I can't wait till you get to a Lethal Lottery, I love those things.
  8. I loved the last episode. Finding out Dino Bravo was a big draw was shocking to hear. I really want to read this book now. It really does make me curious about the interesting information that could come out if smaller other territories were studied more.
  9. Some of the most important aspects of putting on a great match Cena is great at, while Angle is horrible at. For example selling.
  10. "So many title changes" is always an issue when it's present, but the other two I've been able to roll with as logical by-products of the brand split. But the brand split no longer exists in any meaningful way, and after Money in the Bank, when you look at the disparity in star power and significance between the WWE Title MITB match and the World Title MITB match, it's really hard not to see the World Title as the Intercontinental Title. Which I guess makes the Intercontinental Title the TV Title, and the US Title...I don't Know, the Western States Heritage Title? And yeah, I know the WWE Title was always the most important belt, but when the rosters were clearly divided up, you could at least pretend that each brand's champ was the best they had, and if one of them seemed more important than the other, well, that's just the cards they were dealt, and they were still theoretical equals. Now every wrestler, regardless of what brand they're officially attached to, appears on every show and can challenge for every title. So when I see an elite club of five main event players in the WWE Title MITB match, and a field of eight that includes Tyson Kidd and a guy who just made his in-ring debut in the World Title MITB match, there's really no way for me to suspend disbelief on that anymore. With Raw being a supershow and the names of the titles its a fail. I think if they just changed the World Title to the IC Title and the IC Title to the TV Title or something, then there wouldn't be as big of a problem.
  11. The Demolition match from late 88 against The Rockers in MSG is awesome too, Will.
  12. As long as there are two main titles, so many title matches and so many title changes the belts won't mean much.
  13. I loved the finish to the Raw MITB match. Probably my favour finish to a ladder match ever. This show really brought back my love of managers. There were a few on the show and I felt they really added something each time. They really need to develop more of that. Ricardo is the best. If there are any Canadians out there who have not went and watched a ppv at a movie theatre, then you are really missing out. It's like having a whole other crowd there. By the way, Canada loves Tyson Kidd, John Cena and CM Punk.
  14. My favourite tag team, bar none. They had an aura, they had the wrestling ability and they were mega over. What is not to like? Read the DVDR thread for match suggestions. It's really too bad they went out, the way they went out.

  17. I think Muraco would be a better choice than Orndorff. Mr. Wonderful had one great year as a draw agains Hogan (as far as I can remember), while Muraco was a draw in San Francisco, Hawaii and the WWF. Plus he's had way better matches and more big titles.
  18. I would think that this show would feature the matches that go on after the show goes off the air. They often times have a main event once Raw or SD end, so why not just tape those and air them on this show? Throw in a dark match and the show is set.
  19. Bret really was the king of finishes. Most matches had a unique and interesting finish. I can't think of too many of his big matches that didn't have a unique finish. I don't know how much of that was Pat Patterson or how much of that was Bret. Part of the shame of Vince screwing Bret was that Bret didn't end up in creative and helping to put matches together after his in ring career ended.

Growing up in Brockville with a population of 2,100 people meant we didn't get any wrestling, except in 1993 the WWF came. Thank you steroid scandal. This was the show thanks to historyofwwe.com WWF @ Brockville, Ontario - Memorial Centre - May 26, 1993 Tatanka defeated Razor Ramon Doink the Clown defeated Crush Owen Hart defeated Terry Taylor The Undertaker defeated Giant Gonzalez WWF Tag Team Champions Ted Dibiase & IRS defeated Rick & Scott Steiner I don't remember Owen Hart vs Terry Taylor, but I bet that was fun. All I remember was Taker's entrance and Money Inc vs Steiners being real fun.

We've been doing a lot of "what if..." lately, but this made me think of another. Would HHH have risen to where he is if Montreal hadn't happened? To me, it seems his suggestion of "screwing" Bret was his first power play (for lack of a better term). Hell, if Bret and Vince don't have a falling out, Bret might be a high front-office guy. I believe Bret had a 20 year deal, which put him in creative once he retired from the ring.

"When you are talking about money, you are talking about old school. I was hired to bring ratings." What an idiot.
  23. DiBiase is not as good as Savage. Savage got a great match out of Warrior. Heck, Slaughter & Hogan had better matches with Warrior then DiBiase did. Bobby Heenan too. Plus Savage-DiBiase isn't as good as either of the Savage-Warrior matches.
  24. Is there a RSS feed for the Good Will shows, I can't seem to find it. I can find a feed for the FlairChop proper shows, but not for Will's.
  25. The best part of the Hunter, Taker and HBK booking team is that HBK will be an announcer and get everything over, ala Vince. Also, Shawn can cut promos for all of the guys on the roster. Free shows like that remind me why I don't subsribe anymore.
