Shoots Review and Preview thread
I watched the Back to the Territories covering the WWA with Baron Von Raschke. I enjoy this series, and thought this was a pretty good edition. As usual, Cornette tells tales about the area and his guest throws in his two cents. It was very focused on Dick the Brusier, but there was also talk about Wilbur Snyder, Ernie Ladd, the promotional war with Sheik in Detroit, and Bobby Heenan. I recommend it.

Billy Goelz and other 50s finds
When ESPN Classic aired Chicago wrestling, Chene was a favorite. Terrific comedy wrestler. I remember a Chene match where he was backed into a corner, so he leapfrogged the ref and dropkicked the opponent in the same jump. I don't recall seeing anything like it.

Midwest Indies
The Thesz/Tragos Hall of Fame inductions took place this weekend at Waterloo, IA. As part of the weekend's festivities, IPW ran their annual HOF show. A feature match was Ricochet vs. Sami Callihan. Here's the footage, with the board's own CodySave and Hollinger on commentary: Another great weekend of wrestling in Iowa!

NWA On Demand
Bruce, has there ever been discussion of listing the matches on NWA Classics chronologically of when they occurred, instead of when you put them on the website? It would be nice to start with a particular year and go through those matches, or follow a feud in order. Just a suggestion!

Last year's match with Dirden and Redwing teaming up was a hard hitting affair.

ThomasFromIowa, I think "unfortunate pairings" correctly sums up the lineup for that Pro Wrestling Revolver show. That will be a game time decision for me. Are you going to the IPW show on July 23 in conjunction with the Thesz/Tragos HOF weekend? That's usually a pretty fun time, although in full disclosure, I've been friends with the promoter since I was five, so I might be biased.

6:05 Superpodcast Episode #8 - Hang In There
The Blade Rope! I haven't read those in years! I did start converting my CCW tapes to DVD recently. That was some messed up stuff.

6:05 Superpodcast Episode #7 - The Connecticut of Kentucky
Enjoying the show as always! What's the DiBiase Houston only heel turn you referred to?

I just finished the Back to the Territories with Kevin Sullivan. I've seen the Duggan and Dillon ones, and this one blows them away. Listening to Sullivan and Cornette trading stories is tremendous. Highly recommended.

6:05 Superpodcast Episode #2 - El Pibe Diez Dos
Finally got caught up on a some of the past episodes. Great stuff! On the Vince McMahon appearance on the David Letterman show, I remember McMahon getting pissed when Letterman said "Looks like someone got weights for Christmas". McMahon gives him a look and replies, "Looks like someone didn't."

Thanks Bruce, that was a great match! Loved Bockwinkel's selling of the arm after he escapes Chavo's arm bar. One of the small touches you don't see anymore.

WWE TV 8-17 - 8/23
Don't know if he made the report, but Bryan Alvarez always calls it "dong" instead of "gong". No clue why, maybe it's an inside joke. Gotcha! It was someone else reporting, but maybe I missed the joke because I rarely listen to Bryan's podcasts.

WWE TV 8-17 - 8/23
From the RAW report on the Observer site... "Heyman BROKE INTO SONG singing a remake to the tune of "Glory Glory Hallaelujah" when the Undertaker's dong went off." I haven't watched the show yet, but I'm thinking he meant to say "gong".

Wrestling board games
Since we've bridged into computer games, anyone remember Rampage Wrestling? It allowed for some weird match ups, like Vader vs. 8 midgets in a cage, or Vader vs. Abraham Lincoln. It also had random events that would occur, so you'd have Kerry Von Erich wrestling and someone in drag interferes on their behalf, so next thing you know Kevin Von Erich is running the ring barefoot in a dress! I swear these were all real events in my fed.

Between the Sheets #4 (August 11-17, 1992) (Featuring Emil Jay)
I listened to the first hour at work today, another great job! At first glance, you wouldn't think there was enough stuff going on in any week to fill a three hour podcast, but these things just fly by. I remember Dave's coverage of that Japan trip, those were always my favorite issues of the Observer.

Wrestling board games
I just posted a little teaser on the Filsinger Games board about the AWA set. Trying to determine if I start with 1980 or 1981. I'm leaning towards 1981 when Verne retires, but there's not a ton of turnover between 81/82 and 83, so I might start with 1980 so you can have a Verne LOW card for about a year and a half. With the AWA, they ran less frequently than other promotions, so it's a little easier to review the results. I agree that Memphis will be a tough project, but I'm sure you'll do an awesome job, UKW.

The Wade Smeltzer Flaming Spectator Newsletter Issue #2
Another great issue! The insider stuff with the cast of "The Love Boat" and "Luverne and Shirley" was hilarious. I love the correspondents' reports with S. Williams and Mr. Crack Corn. And the doppleganger Bockwinkel was ridiculous. And the best part... no MMA coverage in the wrestling newsletter.

Wrestling board games
Khawk, did you know there was an AWA set for Superstar Pro? I acquired copies of the cards online. I picked up some old Verne Gagne Pro Wrestling Reports recently and found an ad for it. It appears it was only sold through the AWA because I never saw it in the Apter mags.

It can be played either solo or with another person. It works well either way.
