  1. Disagree with this completely. A 'best of' is really pretty worthless, gives you no context to the matches and you don't see the buildup. You could get a two disc 'Best Of All Japan' with 06/09/95 on it, but is it going to be anywhere near as impactful and special if you haven't seen anything from the previous five years? Unless the sets also include angles, promos, previous matches/confrontations in a feud and other stuff outside simply a collection of great matches, they aren't any good for someone wanting to get into the product. In principle I agree but regarding 2002 and 2003 stuff it is better to get the best of compilation ("Year One" and "Year Two") as the full shows especially now are probably pretty unwatchable as ROH undercards often were amateur hour until 2004 (and by amateur hour I mean wrestlers you had sometimes less than 10 matches under their belts) and there is not much storylines/angles you will be missing.
  2. This week's countdown show (best WWE tag teams) had a couple of fun moments, most notably DB telling a story of a friend having nightmares about a tag team and Jericho singing the theme song of said team, though the list was fairly predictable. If I would have had to guess who is in it I would have gotten 8/10. The remaining two are one no-WWE team and a bullshit pick.
  3. What was up with the ring here? There was no ring apron, no bottom rope and the middle rope was lose as hell.
  4. If you are watching a game where you are routing for one of the two teams then I agree. But if not then entertainment (or lack of) is an import factor if you switch channels / do something else or continue watching.
  5. In what physical shape is Sting nowadays? The last time I saw Sting a couple of years back in TNA he was still moving quite okay. I don't remember him having many injuries when he was younger, he was never freakishly huge and he was not working for quite some time of the last 18 years, so I would expect him to be in better shape than other guys of his generation.

Exactly. I mean how many "ordinary" people were even aware that Dolph Ziggler was part of the Spirit Squad?

Tensai could only have worked if he would have worn a mask all the time. As soon as he removed his cap and everbody new it was Albert any chances of him getting over were gone. Umaga had far less previous exposure and was not associated with "mediocrity" by large amounts of the fans as Tensai was (deserving or not).
  8. Jason Hervey was much worse.
  9. If I remember correctly Batista is even much bigger now than he was at Royal Rumble.
  10. There are several "too big to be true" guys, most notably Big E and Ryback.
  11. The last hour or so quite a lot of people had to know, otherwise the betting line would not have moved that much.
  12. It almost seems that the show is designed to make some of the talking heads look really bad, most notably (but not exclusively) Jericho, Punk, Bryan, the Miz and DeMott. Not that I ever had a good opinion of the last two, mind you. Some of the comments reg. Disco Inferno were more personal insults than just criticising the gimmick. They sell the whole thing as being voted by fans. Did they ever do such votings on the website or is this just plain bs?
  13. The first thing I thought of after reading the news:
  14. There are several possibilities for putting Lesnar over Undertaker: - Taker has nothing left and he knows it, putting Lesnar over might be the only way to get rid of the streak without killing the other guy as Lesnar at least will get some heel heat for it, which probably wouldn't work for 95% WWE wrestlers. - According to Meltzer Lesnar went from being a 40-1 underdog to the actual favorite in the last hour before the match, so several people with backstage knowledge made a killing. - WWE just wanted to troll people and get the awesome crowdshots of astonished fans.
  15. They spent way too much time the last two weeks with Triple H with Batista and Rand Orton for Triple H not to be in the main event. On the other hand the crowd probably will riot if the main event is Triple H vs. Batista vs. Orton, so my prediction: *drum-roll* Triple H beats Bryan in a screwy fashion, some authority figure (Vince?) changes the main event to a four way where Bryan beats Triple H clean.
  16. That was epic and somehow Hervey did not get the insult there. After this match Ross is a bit of a hero to me, every other man would have punched Hervey in the face five minutes in.
  17. Those guys looked pretty polished in the stuff they do considering it's two guys I have never heard of and that never got any real break wrestling in 1992 indy in late 90ies indies style, if that makes sense.
  18. What was the name besides Hogan he mentioned? I rewinded three times and still could not make it out. Canek maybe?
  19. There is no tournament scheme, just a long gauntlet match. For Valentine (or SD Jones) to have won the whole thing he would have needed to win 19 straight matches. WWE ran tag team turmoils quite a lot over the last 15 years, just not with that many participants.
  20. All in all the thing was pretty funny but they should not have done the hit-piece like segments about Sid, Steiner and Adamle. And who the hell is the Sideshow Bob look-alike and what's his connection to wrestling?
  21. I did not assume that someone would consider the results of a Countdown show as a spoiler.
  22. It is Russo. What was pretty strange is that they mixed the Montreal screw job together with the normal wrestling angles.
  23. Eddie is normally not a guy you would expect to fuck up left and right but that is what he is doing here. He failed twice to put up Samurai into a tombstone position.
  24. That was one of the strangest submission holds I have ever seen. I did not even realize that this was supposed to be an offensive hold from Liger. When the bell rang I assumed that Liger submitted to the legscissors.
  25. I don't know how Slaughter managed to keep a straight face here, I would have started laughing sooner or later.
