NXT - ARRIVAL
I don't know what WWE sees in the Ascension, except them having a good look. Konnor is in developmental since 2005 (except a two year break) and Viktor is in the business for 15 years (and the last three in developmental), so it's not that they are young or young to the business and are expected to still improve much.

[1997-08-04-WCW-Nitro] Sting and J.J. Dillon
This segment makes it two segments that night where Mean Gene has to help a guy out, here he shows JJ where to look at, i.e. where the camera is located. It's also funny that Dillon has no way to get into contact with Sting while having sources that know Sting to be in the arena beforehand.

[1997-08-04-WWF-Raw] Brian Pillman in a dress
Holly had pretty decent matches from the start of his WWF career when he was put into position to do so (i.e. in the ring with the right guy, not being squashed etc.).

[1997-08-04-WWF-Raw] Brackus vignette
His German sounds so strange that back then I thought this was an American posing as a German but I guess it was just the steroids making him so pumped up. The guy was already 35 back, carrying that much muscle he was not long for this business even if he had any talent.

[1997-08-04-WWF-Raw] Hart Foundation and Steve Austin
That was the Wrestlemania theme they used around this time (Wikipedia says from X to XIV) and the instrumental version of a song from the WWF album "WrestleMania: The Album" (1993):

[1997-08-03-WWF-Summerslam] Mankind vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley (Cage)
Foley doesn't mention it in his first book but I would assume Chyna forgot about the elbow and entered one spot too early, correct?

[1997-08-03-NJPW] Shinya Hashimoto vs Hiroyoshi Tenzan
Yeah, that was one of the weirest screw-ups I have seen in a wrestling match. In addition it looked pretty scary. I think Tenzan only hit his shoulder but he was very close to drop straight on his head (which would happen to him more than once in his career thanks to the courtesy of fucked-up moonsaults).

[1997-08-02-OMEGA] Surge vs Cham Pain
Is the ring announcer doing live play-by-play via the arena microphone? It sounded that way. By the way: Cham Pain seems to be the guy who took the Pedigree straight on his head in that famous clip where some people claimed that it was Jeff Hardy taking the move.

[1997-07-28-WCW-Nitro] Chris Jericho vs Alex Wright
Under different circumstances Wright might have had a long and successful career. I mean he was only 22 at this point and was, as Loss mentioned, becoming a really fine worker. He also had size and (at least for a face) his look working for him.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Which makes the UK just the more attractive to run in.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
UK: 63.2 Mio. people, Texas: 26.5 Mio. people; even if it's "just" England you are talking about 53 Mio. people.

[1997-07-22-RINGS] Kiyoshi Tamura vs Bitsadze Tariel
It's a bit funny that in 90ies Japanese wrestling there were quite some ex-Soviet guys doing shootstyle and looking good so considering that there is no pro wrestling tradition in the former Soviet countries at all (or at least that I know of). I guess demonstration events in Sambo are not an uncommon thing.

[1997-07-22-WCW-Tuesday Nitro] Konnan and Rey Misterio Jr
Reading this it makes we wonder why they never did a latino section of the nWo. The could have Konnan recruited three of the more noteworthy rudos (like Psicosis) and have them feud with Rey and a bunch of tecnicos.
-
[1997-07-13-WCW-Bash at the Beach] Hulk Hogan & Dennis Rodman vs Lex Luger & The Giant
They laid out the match really clever, especially the build up for Rodman's armdrag: they kept Rodman out out the ring for some time with the question beeing what he can do in the ring. Rodman did end up doing much more than you would expect, he took much more bumps than a celebrity is required to take.

[1997-07-13-WCW-Bash at the Beach] Juventud Guerrera & Hector Garza & Lizmark Jr vs La Parka & Psicosis & Villano IV
A funny exchange during the match: (Tenay explains what rudos and tecnicos are) Schiavone: "The Brain would be a rudo." Heenan: "And you would be a wimpo."

[1997-07-12-ECW-TV] Beulah McGillicutty promo
It's a bit strange that neither WCW nor WWF threw some money at her to bring her in. She looked great, could talk much better than 95% of all the "divas" WWF/E ever had and was a willing bumper.
-
[1997-07-07-WCW-Nitro] Randy Savage vs "La Parka"
I always liked this angle. When was this done first? I know that the WWF did this a year earlier with Austin and Vega but I bet there were earlier occurences.

[1997-07-07-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley / Steve Austin and Mankind
The interview by Mankind is really funny when you know what he is talking about.

[1997-07-06-WWF-Canadian Stampede] Bret Hart & Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith & Jim Neidhart & Brian Pillman vs Steve Austin & Goldust & Legion of Doom & Ken Shamrock
Bret has a funny story about the aftermath in his book:
-
[1997-07-06-WWF-Canadian Stampede] Taka Michinoku vs Great Sasuke
TAKA was trying to integrate the crowd a little bit at least while Sasuke worked completely in a bubble.

[1997-06-30-WWF-Raw] The Undertaker promo
In the average political scandal there is no warning "I will tell everything" followed by a reaction "he will tell you horrible things but don't judge until you heard my side of the story". I mean the Undertaker (character) knew exactly what Bearer was going to say.
-
[1997-06-30-WWF-Raw] The Undertaker promo
I doesn't make much sense that Taker warns people not to trust Bearer and promising that he will make everything straight afterwards when he just could have told the whole thing himself and steal Bearer's thunder from the beginning.
-
[1997-06-28-WCW-Saturday Nitro] Chris Jericho vs Syxx
According to www.thehistoryofwwe.com this was internet-exclusive broadcast.
-
[1997-06-28-ECW-TV] Jerry Lawler promo
I don't remember that Candido appearance in WWF 1997 at all, I guess it was cut out of the German broadcast. Either that or I missed this episode of Raw completely.
