[1998-02-02-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin and DX
Austin still on fire to start 1998. Both Shawn and Hunter try to not back down, but still end up looking afraid.

[1998-02-02-WWF-Raw] State of the WWF with DX
Triple H and Shawn at their most obnoxious. Was funny in '98, not funny at all now.

[1998-02-02-WCW-Nitro] Sting vs Randy Savage
Was Hogan nursing an injury, because he moves as slow as molasses here breaking up the pin? Sting looks deflated here and like a total goof. It all makes sense though.

[1998-02-02-WCW-Nitro] Kevin Nash promo
Nash has always been too smarmy for me. It worked for him in 1998, but when he came back to WWE and tried it with The Rock and CM Punk he got owned. This wasn't a bad promo, I just do not like Nash. By the way, is a Tiger Bomb an actual move?

[1998-01-29-WCW-Thunder] Interview: Scott Hall & Dusty Rhodes
The same Hall promo we see every week. Dusty comes out and gives a great promo that includes his '91 run as booker, internet marks, and even the fired syxx-pac all in one swoop. This should have been cut at Souled Out, but still glad we got it here. RATING: Dusty as heel is weird, especially since no matches will be coming out of it.

[1998-01-28-ECW-TV] Pulp Fiction
Douglas constantly reminds us that he is shooting except half the stuff he says is lies (i.e. sleeping with Francine, Sunny wanting to bang Storm, Storm being a hot prospect). I was full on RVD mark at this point and thought the lift was amazing. Snow promo was okay. Bam Bam begging Taz was awkward, especially when he got on his hands and knees and said, "No, I'm not gonna suck your ..." then changes his train of thought mid sentence. It looks as though Taz was almost the same height as Bigelow. Best part of that exchange was Bigelow asking if Taz will be his partner and Taz retorts with "No brother, I'm going to be your Savior!" RATING: Fun way to catch up on all current ECW storylines without having to watch any matches.

[1998-01-28-ECW-TV] Jenna Jameson promo
Heyman surely does love to meld together porn and the extreme nature of ECW. Pretty soon is when he starts saying, "More hardcore than a Brazilian porn movie!" line ad nauseam. Nice touch having her look at the mic towards the end like it reminds her of her day job. RATING: Jenna is still hot in a trashy sort of way.

[1998-01-26-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin promo
Austin cuts a helluva promo on Tyson. He's clearly the best on the mic at this point in WWE. Austin, Flair and Jericho are Best on the mic so far this year. RATING: Why Oh Hell Yeah.

Don King as a rambling, senile, old man incoherently trying to get a point across. RATING: They are lucky this didn't cost them buys.

[1998-01-26-WWF-Raw] Owen Hart vs Hunterdust
The Goldust-As-Someone-Else act is already starting to wear on me. It seems like a running comment with me so far this year, but Luna as Chyna is oddly attractive. The match was your average paint-by-numbers late 90s TV match. Slaughter comes out and awards Owen the European Title which, surprisingly, DX sells like it's actually a big deal. RATING: Is the European Title the most useless, meaningless title since the Western States Heritage Title?

[1998-01-26-WCW-Nitro] Interview: Kevin Nash & Eric Bischoff
Typical smug, insincere (not in a good "heel" way more of a "they pay me to say this corny stuff") Nash. Maybe he would have landed the power bomb better if his legs weren't as fragile as peanut brittle. RATING: How old was that Farley skit by this point?

[1998-01-26-WCW-Nitro] J.J. Dillon bans the powerbomb
Long winded JJ finally gets around to telling us the power bomb is banned. The crowd turned before he even made the announcement and erupted in boos once he got around to it. RATING: Did he say Terminal Prosecution?

[1998-01-26-AJPW-New Year's Giant Series] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Jun Akiyama
I went in thinking I had previously liked this, but if that is the case, I have no idea what was wrong with me. One of the weakest AJPW mains I've ever seen. Disjointed, slow. It's like the strong style version of Ospreay/Ricochet, but in super-slow motion. RATING: My son was mad because the "green guy" won.

[1998-01-24-WCW-Souled Out] Randy Savage vs Lex Luger
Hard to watch. Past prime Savage and Luger slowly, plodding around having struggling to have some semblance of a match. Luger's forearm near the end looks terrible. NWO comes down, yada yada. RATING: Not sure if I yada yada'ed over the best part or not.
