After the repeated incidences of interference in the last several matches between AWA champion Hulk Hogan and the members of the Sinister Six, AWA officials were in a quandary as to what measures to take. Their first planned response to threaten fines and suspension for future interference wound up getting tied up by Sheikh Adnan Kaissie's team of high powered lawyers. At least as far as the next show in Milwaukee goes, they have managed to come up with a short term measure to at least curb some interference by Kaissie's men. The theme of the show will be Night Of The Cage. On a major card on March 22nd, there will be 4 big cage matches, including : AWA World Title match AWA World Tag Titles match AWA Southern Titles match And a loser leaves town match. There will also be several other major matches announced, including a 6 man tag featuring AWA American Champion Tito Santana and the Garvin Brothers facing Col. Robley's Army.

When writing my TV, I tend to start by seeing what the card will be for the weekend house show and then come up with TV matches that will set things up for that card, or otherwise further existing feuds. I actually moved up the Santana tag match ahead in the card because I didn't want to end with a string of heel beatdowns.

AWA show at the Salt Palace, Salt Lake City, March 15th , 1984 Can-Am Express & The Latin Lovers vs. Badd Company & the Cuban Commandos Badd Company and the Commandos won when Gerry Morrow reversed a Tom Zenk cross body press into a power slam Mothership Connection vs. Bob Sweetan & Rip Oliver Mothership Connection won when Parsons hit the Rumper Stumper on Oliver Samu vs. Manny Fernandez Fernandez won when he got the Flying Burrito Forearm on Samu AWA Southern Title match : Buddy Rose © vs. Mr. Olympia Olympia won by DQ but did not win the title when he was attacked by the rest of the Playboy Club AWA Tag Titles match : The Road Warriors © vs. One Man Gang & Jerry Blackwell The Warriors were looking to get revenge for Kaissie’s Krew’s attack on their good friend Moose Cholak, who it was just announced had to retire due to his injuries at the hands of Crusher and Gang . A lengthy brawl ensued with all four men being busted open and the ref finally having to throw out the match with Hawk and Gang both slugged him for trying to separate the two teams. Tito Santana & Greg Gagne vs. Ken Patera & Paul Orndorff After a long back and forth match, an attempted double team by Patera went awry when Gagne ducked out of the way at the last moment and Patera hit Orndorff instead. Tito quickly hit the Mexican Hammer on Orndoff and got the crowd pleasing victory. Orndorff was clearly unhappy with Patera afterwards. AWA World Title match : Hulk Hogan © vs. Masked Superstar Hogan has been showing signs of the increasing damage done to him by the Sinister Six and has had a lot of difficulty getting a clean victory over the members of the villainous syndicate. It looked like he might finally get one when, after a particularly brutal bout, he just barely managed to duck the flying clothesline from Superstar and came back to hit the Axe Bomber on the masked man. No sooner had he knocked him down, though, than Ted Dibiase stormed the ring and started pummeling him with the loaded glove. Superstar then hit the Corkscrew Neckbreaker that clearly hurt Hogan’s already damaged neck. After the ref called for the DQ, the AWA officials were seen conferring about what to do about this situation.

For the AWA's +1, we are picking up "Golden" Chick Donovan. We are also adding to the roster Gama Singh and welcoming back Javier Cruz. To make way for them on the roster, we are releasing "Golden" Moose Cholak (can only have on "Golden" on the roster, after all) and another wrestler who will be revealed after the next set of shows (March 22nd) get posted. (Not trying to be coy, just don't want to reveal my booking until it gets posted. The new wrestlers will not appear on AWA shows until I start posting April shows.)

AWA All-Star Wrestling for March 15th Mr. Olympia vs. Ed Wiskowski Olympia has been deep in an ongoing war with the Playboy Club and this time was taking on the powerhouse “Polish Prince”. Wiskowski opened a barrage of devastating offense on Olympia, looking to do as much damage as he could before the masked man took on Buddy Rose for the Southern Title. Olympia weathered the storm, however, and battled back until he ultimately got the Powerlock (Figure Four) on the Prince, forcing him to give up the match. But that was not enough for Olympia, who refused to let go of the hold after the bell until Rose and the rest of the Playboy Club came into the ring and attacked them. Even after that, the didn’t get him down for long as he proceeded to dropkick all of the Club members out of the ring, and the last thing they saw as they fled was Olympia standing tall in the ring. AWA Southern Title match : “Playboy” Buddy Rose © vs. Tom Zenk Say what you will about Buddy Rose and his tactics, he has ducked no one in defending his newly won AWA Southern title. This time out, he was taking on the fiery young newcomer, Tom Zenk of the Can-Am Express. For his part, Zenk gave a very good accounting of himself , looking at a few points like he just might pull off the upset and win the Southern title. In the end, however, it was his impetuousness that would prove his downfall, as he went up top to finish Rose off with the flying dropkick far too soon. Rose dodged the move and Zenk landed hard on the mat. One Inside Out Backbreaker later, and it was another successful title defense for the Playboy. Tito Santana & the Latin Lovers vs. “Mad Dog” Pierre Lefebvre & Badd Company Throughout the match, Lefebvre was clearly distracted, constantly looking back to the locker room. His paranoia would prove justified as his nemesis, Da Crusher , would come out to the ring and make his presence felt. Lebfebvre would head immediately to the ring aisle and start brawling with Crusher while, in the ring, Santana took advantage of the distraction to hit Tanaka with the Mexican Hammer into a Perez German Suplex for the victory. Badd Company were distinctly displeased with this result but, seeing they were outnumbered, decided not to push the point. Bob Sweetan vs. Master Gee In a match pitting the tough “Bruiser” Bob against the quick Master Gee, Sweetan was able to grind down Master Gee until he was able to hit the Piledriver to get the win. This was not enough for Sweetan, however, who tried to set up Master Gee for a second piledriver after the match. Iceman Parsons immediately came to his partner’s rescue and broke that up, provoking Rip Oliver to come to the ring to take the side of his fellow Playboy Club member and the two sides brawled until the AWA officials split them up. “Crusher” Jerry Blackwell vs. Moose Cholak In a battle of two huge veterans, Blackwell was accompanied at ringside by his Sinister Six/Kaissie’s Krew partner, One Man Gang. This match looked like it could have gone either way, but when Cholak was trying to take down Blackwell with lariats, the Mountain From Stone Mountain caught him with a massive power slam to get the win. The moment after the victory was announced, One Man Gang ran into the ring and hit Cholak with a running splash before he and Blackwell proceeded to beat down the big Moose with the chain, clearly looking to put Cholak out of wrestling for good. “Wildman” Jack Armstrong rushed out to put a halt to this, but got a chain to the face for his troubles. The Road Warriors then came out swinging chairs to run them off but Cholak had clearly been very badly hurt. Hulk Hogan & Jack Armstrong vs. Ted Disbiase & Masked Superstar Armstrong was still hurt from the previous match, so Hogan brought out his good friend, Mr. Olympia , to partner him for his match with two members of the Sinister Six. Dibiase and Superstar took advantage of Olympia still being tired from his earlier match by cutting the ring in half and preventing him from tagging out to Hogan as they beat him down. Olympia was able to rally and dropkick both his opponents before making the hot tag out to Hogan. Unfortunately for him, the ref did not see the tag and, as he was ushering Hogan out of the ring, Dibiase took advantage of the distraction to clobber Olympia with the loaded glove, setting him up to be pinned by Superstar. Superstar then looked to hit the Corkscrew Neckbreaker on Olympia post match, but Hogan charged in to his friend’s rescue and put a stop to that.

Great first show in Texas, excellent use of Baby Doll.

Am I the only one who is especially psyched to see Landell in Stampede?

I can give Adrian Street a home , if nobody objects. I have a few things I can do with him.

I think we can probably figure it out among us without going to a draft. If someone else wants the RnR, I would gladly take the Bodies.

I like to steal from a variety of sources, and I am shamelessly ripping of a classic comic book storyline with the Hogan angle. Stay tuned! I tend to stack the San Francisco shows since they are so far from home base, they would do every thing they can to draw in the big houses. I also have Buddy Rose with a history in the bay area, so I put him in a title defense rather than a tag match. Orndorff and Tito are two guys who are going to be very much front and center this year.

Do we get an extra slot on our roster starting April 1st? Looking to make some alterations in my mid-card but want to hold off so I can make them all at once.

AWA show at the Cow Palace, San Francisco, March 9th Mr. Olympia vs. Rip Oliver Although he came in with his ribs taped up from the attack by One Man Gang on AWA All-Star Wrestling, Olympia was still able to get the victory with the Powerlock . Post-match, the other members of the Playboy Club charged the ring and kicked Olympia in the ribs a few times before running off Badd Company vs. The Latin Lovers The Latin Lovers won when Al Perez hit the Alley-Copter on Pat Tanaka. True to form, Badd Company ambushed the Lovers after the end of the match. Greg Gagne vs. Ted Dibiase Dibiase won with a loaded glove shot that the ref did not see The Garvin Brothers vs. “The Tank” Mike Shaw & “Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez In a bloody brawl, the Garvins won when Jimmy hit a brainbuster on Fernandez AWA Southern Title match : Buddy Rose © vs. Samu Rose won after getting the Inside Out Backbreaker on Samu AWA Southern Tag titles match : The Cuban Commandos © vs. The Mothership Connection The Commandos won after catching Master Gee in a double DDT. AWA American Title match : Tito Santana © vs. Paul Orndorff Santana and Orndorff went to a 30 minute time limit draw AWA World Tag Titles match : The Road Warriors © vs. The Assassins The Assassins came incredibly close to winning the belts after hitting a huge double back suplex on Animal and getting a 2.9999999 count, but Animal was able to tag out to Hawk, and they were ultimately able to defend their titles when they got a double flying shoulder tackle on Assassin #2 AWA World Title match : Hulk Hogan © vs. One Man Gang Gang was accompanied by both Sheikh Kaissie and Ken Patera, but Patera did not get involved in the match other than to glare at Hogan. After a truly epic brawl between the two huge men, the match ended when, out of nowhere, Gang went to ringside, brought back in his chain and hit Hogan in the head with it, leading to an immediate DQ. He proceeded to lash Hogan in the ribs with his chain until the AWA officials interceded and stood between him and the champ. Gang then held the chain high over his head and laughed while looking out to Patera, who nodded approvingly from ringside.

Back in the game, kids. AWA All-Star Wrestling for March 9th Pat Tanaka vs. Vinnie Valentino This was a singles match up of two tag team contenders that proved to be as fast paced as one can imagine. Tanaka kept up a flurry of offense on Valentino, with rapid fire strikes and martial arts kicks. But the “Handsome Italian” ™ kept his cool and when Tanaka tried to finish him off with a thrust kick, Valentino blocked it and countered with a rollup to get a quick pin. Badd Company had shown some poor sportsmanship in their reactions to some losses of late, but they hit a new low this time as Paul Diamond charged the ring and the two beat down Valentino until Al Perez rushed in to run them off. AWA Southern Tag Titles match : The Cuban Commandos © vs. The Can-Am Express The Commandos had been on a real rampage since arriving in the AWA, winning the Southern Tag titles and ravaging their opponents. The looked to continue their streak as they brutalized the rookie Tom Zenk , keeping him from tagging in Phil Lafon and double teaming him every chance they got. Zenk was able to tough it out and fought back as much as he could, rallying the fans behind him, until he was finally able to dive into his corner and tag in Lafon. Lafon came in the proverbial house afire as he dropkicked both Commandos across the ring. He kept up his attack until he was able to get Angel Acevedo in place for the Cobra Clutch suplex, but the Cuban Assassin dug in and blocked the move long enough for the bell to ring, signaling a 15 minute time limit draw. “Wildman” Jack Armstrong vs. Paul Orndorff Armstrong has been a real gadfly to the Sinister Six of late, giving them a lot of trouble in individual matches. Mr. Wonderful clearly decided that this would end now, bowling him over right out of the blocks with a running tackle before levelling him with a series of power moves before polishing him off with the piledriver. Orndorff has his sights set on the top of the AWA and from the looks of things, nothing is going to stop him from getting there. Greg Gagne vs. “Mad Dog” Pierre Lefebvre This was a match up of the technical skill of Greg Gagne against the bare knuckle brawling of Lefebvre. For much of the match, Gagne was able to stay one step ahead of the Mad Dog, countering out of bear hug attempts and peppering him with shots while being to duck out of the way of counter attacks. Lefebvre was able to catch him with a right hook and was starting to get his own attack in when Da Crusher showed up at ringside and taunted Lefebvre. Lefebvre started to jaw back at him but that gave Gagne the chance to recover and dropkick him out of the ring. Crusher and Lefebvre brawled at ringside until the ref called for the bell, signaling a count out victory for Gagne. Super Destroyer vs. Da Crusher While Super Destroyer was never a particularly easy going opponent, he has seemed to crank up the viciousness since joining, err, enlisting in Col. Buck Robley’s Army. He unloaded his massive power offense on the veteran Crusher, who fought back hard but seemed overwhelmed by the huge masked man. Da Crusher would not knuckle under, however, and started inching back into the match with big clubbing lefts and rights. Just when he was getting his comeback underway, though, who should charge into the ring, swinging his axe handle, but “Mad Dog” Lefebvre, seeking revenge for Crusher’s earlier interference. He attacked Crusher and the ref immediately called for the bell, disqualifying Super Destroyer and giving the match to Da Crusher. Super D indicated he was none too pleased with the result. One Man Gang vs. Mr. Olympia If the big 747 thought he was going to roll right over Mr. Olympia on his way to his world title match with Hulk Hogan, he had another thing coming. Olympia wisely used his speed and mobility advantage on Gang to duck and dodge his offense, while dealing his own damage with running clotheslines and precisions dropkicks. He even looked like he might just pull off the upset by hooking in the sleeper hold on OMG. Gang summoned up his strength and drove Olympia back first into the corner turnbuckle, but just like in the big 12 man tag match, Olympia kept the sleeper locked in tight. Gang went for the same move one more time, but once again Olympia held fast. Gang dug in deep and stood up to his full height and just crushed Olympia in the corner, and the third time proved to be the charm as Olympia let go and dropped to the mat. Gang ascended the second turnbuckle and hit the 747 Splash to put away Olympia. But that was not enough for Gang, who hit a running splash on Olympia after the bell rang, seemingly out of pure spite. Olympia wound up being taken from the ring on a stretcher.

It seemed like it was all over for the Hulkster when Blackwell hit a big running splash that clearly seemed to hurt his damaged ribs. Hogan was just barely able to kick out at the last second, but he was able to rally, and when he hit a desperation Axe Bomber that knocked Blackwell out of the ring, Blackwell was not able to get back in the ring in time and Hogan won by countout. He was not able to enjoy his victory for long, however, as he was ambushed from behind by Ken Patera, who locked him in the Full Nelson, exacerbating his existing injury. The AWA officials were able to get Patera off the champ, but the damage had been done.

AWA All-Star Wrestling for March 2nd “Crusher” Jerry Blackwell vs. “Wildman” Jack Armstrong Armstrong has been getting caught in the crossfire of the Sinister Six’s war with Hulk Hogan but hasn’t let that shake him, showing no fear of the big “Crusher” and going all out with big rights and lefts. Eventually, though, Blackwell was able to grind him down until finally the Mountain from Stone Mountain caught him in a powerslam to get the win. Al Perez vs. Paul Diamond This match pitted two relative newcomers to the AWA in a fast paced singles match. Paul Diamond was no stranger to some dirty tactics as part of Badd Company but for the most part, he stayed within the rules and got a number of very near falls on Perez. He thought he was finally able to put him away when he got Perez in a schoolboy rollup, but Perez was able to kick out and reverse it into a German Suplex for the final pin. Perez offered to shake Diamond’s hand after the match but instead took a slap at Perez before dashing out of the ring. So much for good sportsmanship. Masked Superstar vs. Iceman Parsons Masked Superstar has been on a rampage since arriving in the AWA, tearing through his opposition with a vengeance. The always popular Iceman, however, was clearly not going to go down without a fight, clearly catching Superstar off guard with his fiery offense. He even had Superstar set up for a piledriver, but Superstar powered out and , when Parsons got back to his feet, Superstar nailed him with the Corkscrew Neckbreaker for the victory. Ron Garvin vs. Manny Fernandez The feud between the Garvins and Col. Robley’s Army is really starting to catch fire, and this match pitted the crazy Ragin’ Bull against the determined Ron Garvin. This match was as insane as you could imagine, with Garvin pounding on Fernandez and Fernandez refusing to go down, leading to both men being a bloody mess. Fernandez missing the Flying Burrito led to Garvin hitting a running Hands Of Stone punch to finally get the decision, but this was not enough for Garvin, who kept jackhammering Fernandez with punches to the head long after the bell. It finally took his brother Jimmy coming in to get him off the Ragin’ Bull, who was still screaming at him from the ring as the brothers walked away. “Champagne” Gerry Morrow vs. Master Gee This singles matched pitted members of the Cuban Commandos and the Mothership Connection against each other, and Master Gee was clearly looking to stake the Connection’s claim on a shot against the Commandos’ AWA Southern Tag Titles. Master Gee went for progressively more risky moves, with flying tackles and headscisors , before trying to cinch in the Masterlock. Morrow seemed to have this move spotted, however, and grabbed a fistful of trunks as he reversed the attempt into an inside cradle. The crowd was displeased with this result but Morrow didn’t care Ted Dibiase vs. Da Crusher Dibiase , who came to the ring with Masked Superstar at his side, had made no secret of how little he thought of anyone in the AWA outside of the Sinister Six, which clearly has drawn the ire of AWA stalwart Da Crusher. Crusher came out swinging against Dibiase , which seemed to take him back a bit but Dibiase came back hard against the Man Who Made Milwaukee Famous. Both men had the advantage at different points in the match but ultimately Dibiase got Crusher in the ropes and started choking him with the bottom ropes. When the ref forced him to stop and step back from the ropes, Superstar took advantage of the distraction and nailed Crusher in the head with a chair. Dibiase then hit a fistdrop on the unconscious Crusher and got the tainted victory as the crowd exploded with rage.

Although, if you think about it, at least for personality Duggan is a pretty good substitute for Rick Steiner Count Bundy vs. Wahoo in a cage as to add to the list of matches I would have loved to have seen.
