AWA All-Star Wrestling for October 7th
Eric Embry vs. Dean Ho
Embry seemed quite full of himself after putting Samu out of action recently and was very cocky as he took on the popular veteran. Ho, to his credit, put up quite a fight but , after Ho leapfrogged Embry, the Flamboyant One checked his momentum and caught Ho with a neck breaker. One piledriver later and Embry had the victory.
Ken Patera & Mike George vs. Dominic DeNucci & Tony Russo
With One Man Gang out on suspension, Patera was teaming with the newest member of Sheikh Kaissie’s stable, Mike George, against the incoming team of the Wild Italians. George proved to be an eager student of Patera as the two cut Russo off from his partner and beat him down. DeNucci kept trying to tag in and save Russo but it was to no avail, as George hit a nasty shoulder breaker for the win.
Interview : Mean Gene is joined in the ring by Da Crusher and Prof. Toru Tanaka
Mean Gene : Crusher, I know you must be shocked and disappointed, as we all are, at the recent actions of your old partner, Ivan Putski. He and Ed Wiskowski said some pretty harsh things about you last week.
Crusher : Putski, you broke my heart. I never turned my back on you, no matter what you say. You stabbed me in the back and you know it. You think because you are teaming with some kind of a Prince that makes you better than me? You call me some kind of low class bum? Yeah, I am just a working class stiff … an’ I’m proud of it! I’m as proud of my blue collar roots as I am of the Polish blood that runs in my veins! We may have been friends before, but if you are gonna side with that crumb, then I ain’t gonna hold back, and the next time we meet in the ring , that’s when I am gonna pay you back for what you did to me in Milwaukee!
Mr. Olympia & The Latin Lovers vs. The Minnesota Heartbreakers (Tom Stanton, Rocky Brewer & Rick Patterson)
After the beating inflicted on Jeff Sword last week by Mr. Olympia , it looks like has been replaced full time in the Heartbreakers by Rick Patterson, who came to the ring in full Minnesota Heartbreakers gear and jacket. The Heartbreakers, as ever, were joined by “The Continental Lover” Eddie Mansfield who was certainly not shy about letting his presence be felt, taking shots at Olympia every chance he could. Mr. Olympia did his best to keep his focus on the match and lead the Lovers to victory over the newly resurgent Heartbreakers, and they seemed about to take the victory with Cruz had Stanton set up for the Love Missile. However, when Valentino went up top for the flying dropkick, Mansfield snuck up behind him and shoved him hard off the top turnbuckle , sending him crashing hard to the mat. The ref caught that and called for the DQ as Olympia chased Mansfield from the ringside.
Da Crusher vs. Ed Wiskowski
Da Crusher was joined at ringside by his partner in the Sake & Old Milwaukee Connection, Prof. Toru Tanaka, while the Polish Prince had both Precious and his fellow member of the Brotherhood Of Poland, Ivan Putski. A surefire recipe for chaos if ever there was one, and that is pretty much what we got. After a stretch of intense brawling, Da Crusher had the Crusher Clutch (stomach claw) locked on Wiskowski when Putski entered the ring and blindsided him with the brass knucks. This led to Tanaka charging the ring himself and the ref calling for the DQ as both sides slugged it out for several more minutes.
Interview : Mean Gene is at ringside.
Mean Gene : Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to welcome back to the AWA , the pride of Mound, Minnesota … Greg Gagne!
The crowd cheers loudly as Greg makes his way to ringside, smiling and waving to the fans.
Gagne : Thanks for that, Mean Gene. I enjoyed most of my time in Georgia but I’ve got to say, it is great to be back home in Minnesota.
Mean Gene : Speaking of which, some rather disturbing news drifted back here of what you were up to in Georgia. Care to set the record straight.
Gagne : (scowling) Gene, I want to come clean with you and all of the good fans here … when I was in Georgia, I made some mistakes, trusted the wrong people and went down a bad path. I have no one to blame for it but myself. That’s part of the reason I’ve come back home … to clear my head and get a fresh start. I want to rededicate myself to the fans and I promise that I will not let them down …
Gagne is cut off as a large masked man sneak attacks him from the back. The masked man then gives Gagne a swift DDT on the ringside mat before rushing off to avoid security. Mean Gene helps the dazed Gagne to his feet as the AWA officials try to figure out just what happened here.
Hulk Hogan & The Road Warriors vs. Lord Humongous & The Wild Bills
Once again, Humongous attacked Hogan savagely, busting him open above his eye with his hockey mask headbutts then punching him repeatedly on the wound. Hogan and the Road Warriors would ultimately prevail when Animal caught Billy Jack in a power slam, but Hogan and Humongous continued to brawl at ringside after the match had ended.
