Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, on ESPN / TSN, March 17th The Golden Guns (Jerry Lynn & Biff Wellington) vs. The Sin City Superstars (Scotty The Body & Mark Starr) The PCW tag division is at its most dynamic, and that is reflected in the new looks of two of the up and coming tag teams. The new look Golden Guns featured the return of Biff Wellington, who had not been seen in PCW in 2 years. Meanwhile, the Sin City Superstars brought in young British wrestler Mark Starr to join Scotty The Body. Both teams were clearly looking to up their game and move further up the ranks, with Wellington meshing well with Lynn on several double team moves, while Starr brought additional technical polish to the Superstars' attack. It was Starr who was able to score the pinfall on Lynn with the Starrburst Suplex (slingshot suplex) but both teams had to work hard for it. Tony St. Clair vs. Angel Acevedo While "Tough" Tony St. Clair clearly has his mind on Jim Neidhart, he certainly had enough to keep himself busy with the Cuban Assassin. Acevedo gave as good as he got in every exchange with St. Clair, deftly ducking the spinning forearm smash and very nearly catching him in the DDT. St. Clair dug in and was able to wear down Acevedo enough to hit the Floating Butterfly Suplex. It took a lot out of him, but St. Clair came out on top. The Hollywood Vampires (The Vampire Warrior & Makhan Singh) vs. Jim Lynch & Blake Towsley Another team sporting a new look is Paul Bearer's duo of the Vampire Warriors, now bolstered by "The Monster" Makhan Singh. The big Monster had an immediate impact, bowling over both Lynch and Towsley while Bearer and Vampire Warrior laughed maniacally . He eventually crushed Lynch with the Monster Mash (front slam) for an incredibly dominant win. The Neighborhood of Evil have gotten even scarier, and that has to be bad news for PCW. Owen Hart & Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. The Suicide Blondes (Chris Candido & Louie Spiccoli) The youngest Hart brother and the tough as nails French Canadian have formed an unusual but solid friendship. They proved that they meshed well in spite of their seeming differences, with Hart's scientific prowess being balanced by PCO's rough and tumble brawling. Ouellet put Spiccoli down for the count with a package piledriver as Owen held off Candido. Cactus Jack and Cyrus The Virus may well come to regret being responsible for forging this impressive duo for their opposition. Muscle Beach (Rod Price & Tommy Cairo) vs. Brian Corridan & Brandon Bellinger With all the intense competition in the PCW tag team division, the latest duo to join the ranks were certainly something else. Coming to the ring to the sounds of David Lee Roth's version of "California Girls" , Price and Cairo flexed and posed in the ring with an overwhelming air of smugness. This annoyed most of the fans, but they did get the attention of a fair number of the young female fans. The two muscular stars swiftly overwhelmed Corridan and Bellinger, tossing them about with power moves before finishing them off with the Beach Break (stuff Power Bomb). They then went back to flexing and posing until "California Girls" was cut off and replaced with "Smooth Operator". This, of course, is the cue for the entrance of "Playboy" Buddy Rose, accompanied by Scotty The Body and Mark Starr. Rose : Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen! This is your lucky day! (Scotty and Starr are mouthing the words behind him, then silently snickering behind his back) The Harris Boys , well, they just weren't really Playboy Club material. Lacking in sophistication. But you men are clearly cut from a different bolt of cloth. You know how to take care of yourselves, and more importantly, you know how to take care of business. A place in the Playboy Club is all yours for the taking! Price and Cairo look at each other, shrug, then nod to Rose, joining him and the Sin City Superstars as they leave the ring. Pacific Television Title Match : Bret Hart © vs. Curtis Hughes Bret Hart has been making a name for himself as a fighting champion, ducking no one in his title defenses. He was facing a considerable test of his abilities with the Big Cat. Hughes was clearly out to make the most of his title shots, delivering some heavy blows as he went all out against the champ. Hart fired back in kind, but found it tough to bring down Mr. Hughes. Little by little, he was able to chip away at the Big Cat, eventually bringing him down with a second rope Bulldog and just barely holding his shoulders down for the three count. Hart had pulled out his most impressive title defense yet.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from McArthur Court, Eugene, March 12th The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) vs. The Hollywood Vampires (The Vampire Warrior & Jimmie Lee) The popular masked team got their biggest victory yet when the Patriot hit the Uncle Slam on the Vampire Warrior Steve Blackman vs. Gary Albright Despite Blackman's best efforts, the Animal overwhelmed him, forcing him to tap out to the Dragon Sleeper Owen Hart & Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Bob & Crash Holly The newly formed friendship of Owen and PCO had an exciting match with the Hollys, with the momentum swinging back and forth until Owen defeated Bob with a Moonsault Al Snow vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Snow proved to be quite a handful for the leader of the Diamond Exchange, enough so that Flowers had to hit a low blow from behind to set him up for a Piledriver, stealing the win from the beloved member of the Army Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Brian Pillman © vs. The Cheetah Kid These two had a gripping Light Heavyweight Title bout that went to a 20 minute time limit draw Tony St. Clair & British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. Jim Neidhart & The Suicide Blondes (Louie Spicolli & Chris Candido) St. Clair and Neidhart went at it with a white hot fury, with the other members of their teams trying to keep the match under control. St. Clair wound up knocking out Spicolli with the Spinning Forearm Smash, but you could tell he was wanting another crack at the Anvil

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum , Portland , on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN, March 11th Brian Christopher vs. Mike Enos Christopher put up a spirited fight, but Enos was able to defeat him with the Whirlybird (Spinning Crucifix Toss) Scott Armstrong vs. Joe Malenko A tightly contested bout that Armstrong wound up taking with a top rope flying clothesline Scott Hall , Dustin Rhodes & Lou Perez vs. Buddy Rose & The Sin City Superstars (Scotty The Body & Reno Riggins) Hall came out with his knee bandaged, which proved a target for the Playboy Club. Hall was hit once again with a clip from behind, this time by Scotty The Body, and that left him open for a running splash by Rose to give the win to the Playboy Club 2/3 Falls Pacific Television Title : Bret Hart © vs. Bull Pain 1st Fall : Pain pinned Hart following the Hangman's Drop (two handed chokeslam) 2nd Fall : Hart pinned Pain with a Crucifix 3rd Fall : Hart managed to score the three count with a Victory Roll Winner : Bret Hart Curt Hennig & Brian Lee vs. The Undertaker & Barry Windham As one could imagine, this was a wild bout, with the Brigade having a ferocious battle with the Neighborhood Of Evil. Windham was able to pull out the win for the NOE by putting Lee down with a Western Lariat

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN,March 10th Doug Furnas vs. Bob Backlund In the past few months, Bob Backlund has gone from having dual titles to having no titles, and you can tell that it rankles him. He may still command the loyalty of the Knights Templar, but you can tell he was looking to prove he still had it. He certainly picked a tough opponent to prove himself against. The big young Oklahoman was equally determined to show that he was not to be overlooked, and the two fought each other to a stalemate in several tests of strength. Backlund actually seemed at a bit of a loss as to what to do with Doug Furnas, but veteran instinct wound up being the deciding factor as he dodged out of an attempt at a shoulder tackle in the corner, then capitalized with the Backlund Bridge. He was just barely able to hold Furnas' powerful shoulders for the three count. A big win for Backlund, but he had to work hard for it. Vic Steamboat vs. Wayne Bloom The war between James E. Cornette and Ronnie P. Gossett rolls on as the Demon did battle with one half of the Destruction Crew. Initially, both men had the rest of their respective stables at ringside, but the ref took a hard line and ordered everyone but the managers back to the locker room. Bloom did what he could to overpower Steamboat, but Vic fought back with intensity, lacing into Bloom's chest with chops that left livid red welts. Steamboat was able to come off the top with a Flying Cross Bodypress to get the win. A big victory for Steamboat and Cornette's Crew, but you can bet that Gossett is not going to let this go unanswered. Cactus Jack & Cyrus The Virus vs. James Miller & Ibrehem Rahman While the go-to duo for the Wild Things has been Art Barr and Eddie Guerrero, Cactus Jack has taken Cyrus The Virus under his wing (under his quills?), becoming a full time bad influence for the already deranged young star. The two lived up to their collective name and went wild on their opponents, battering them from pillar to post until Cyrus pinned Miller following a Frog Splash. The tag ranks may well have gotten even scarier. Tracy Smothers vs. Dean Malenko While both of these young stars are known for their tag team matches, they proved more than capable as singles wrestlers in this tense match. While they have considerable technical ability, this match got heated at a number of points, with both men hitting the hardest shots they could at each other. Neither of them wanted to be the one to knuckle under, and it took a big brainbuster from Malenko to finally put down Smothers. California Title Match : Scott Hall © vs. Scotty The Body Last week, Scott Hall held off a challenge from "Playboy" Buddy Rose to retain his California Title. Tonight, he would face another of the Playboy Club in one half of the Sin City Superstars. Buddy Rose was at ringside to guide his young charge, but the ref gave him strict orders for him to keep to himself. In this battle of the Scotts, it was hard for the newcomer to make a dent in the big champ. Nothing he did had any impact, and Hall tossed the younger man around like he was a rag doll. It was not Rose but Scotty's Sin City partner Reno Riggins who was the one who interfered, clipping Hall's knee from behind right in front of the ref. The ref immediately called for the DQ, but the Playboy Club didn't seem to care, attacking Hall's damaged knee until Dustin Rhodes and Lou Perez ran out and the Club retreated to the locker room. This could spell bad news for the California champ.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN , March 4th Tony St. Clair vs. Chris Candido St. Clair took his anger at Jim Neidhart out on the former Light Heavyweight champ, pinning Candido after a spinning forearm smash. The Golden Guns (Todd Morton & Jerry Lynn) vs. The Destruction Crew The Guns put in a valiant effort, but wound up being overwhelmed by the aggressive DC who hit the Wrecking Ball on Lynn for the victory California Title Match : Scott Hall © vs. Buddy Rose The wily Playboy was full of his usual tricks, with the Sin City Superstars at ringside providing "moral support". Hall was able to shut out the distractions and levelled Rose with a mighty clothesline and get the win. Rose could be seen muttering to the Sin City Superstars as he left the ring. Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers An intense match where Ouellet fought his way out of the piledriver on a number of occasions but Flowers was able to trap him in a small package assisted by a fistful of tights to get the pinfall Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Coast 2 Coast (John Tatum & Jack Victory) © vs. The Sin City Superstars (Scotty The Body & Reno Riggins) As one can imagine, this was a crazed and chaotic match that ended when Victory hit the Victory-Plex on Scotty to successfully defend their belts. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Curt Hennig © vs. The Undertaker The champion put in a determined effort against the man from Death Valley until Barry Windham rushed the ring and attacked him, leading to a DQ. The Neighborhood Of Evil continued their attack until Scott Hall ran out and forced them to retreat.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria, on ESPN / TSN, March 3rd The Cheetah Kid vs. Crash Holly At Aloha Spectacular, the Cheetah Kid caught a lot of attention with his win over "The Cuban Assassin" Angel Acevedo and the buzz was that he was emerging as a top contender for Brian Pillman's Light Heavyweight Title. He certainly showed what he was made of in this fast paced match with one half of the Holly Cousins. Crash Holly certainly gave as good as he got, with plentiful near falls. The masked man was able to block an attempted rollup, then turn it around into a Power Bomb to get another exciting victory. The Cheetah Kid is rapidly acquiring quite the following for himself. Dustin Rhodes vs. Barry Windham Barry Windham's shot at Curt Hennig's Pacific Heavyweight Title at Aloha Spectacular ended in chaos with the rest of the Neighborhood Of Evil getting involved. Windham still has his sights set on the title, and was certainly not about to let the son of his former mentor be an obstacle. Dustin did his father proud in this match, refusing to take a backwards step, but the experience and viciousness of Windham was just too much to overcome. Barry ended up levelling him with a Western Lariat to score the pinfall and add more to his resume to get a second shot. The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) vs. The Bruise Brothers Since their arrival in Pacific Coast Wrestling, the Force Of July have had several run-ins with the Sin City Superstars, but tonight, they would square off with the other team from the Playboy Club, the Harris Twins. This was an out and out donnybrook, with both teams throwing haymakers and power moves at each other. The action wound up spilling out onto the floor, with all four men slugging it out and ending in a double countout. These two teams have got to be eying each other up for a rematch. Owen Hart vs. Cyrus The Virus Owen was coming off a tough loss at Aloha Spectacular to Buzz Sawyer, and was looking to get back on track with a win over the sinister Cyrus. Cyrus, having just challenged Brian Pillman for the Light Heavyweight Title, had his mentor, Cactus Jack, in his corner and was full of his usual tricks and mindgames. Owen did his best to remain cool, but Cyrus did get him flustered on a number of occasions. Owen's finely honed instincts paid off when he was able to catch Cyrus coming off the ropes with a belly to belly suplex. When he went for the cover, Cactus chose that moment to strike , rushing into the ring and hitting Owen with an elbow to the back of the head. As the ref called for the DQ, Cactus and Cyrus double teamed Owen until Pierre Carl Ouellet rushed out and ran them out of the ring. Cyrus is dangerous enough on his own, but you have to watch your back when he has Cactus Jack by his side. Steven Regal vs. Jim Neidhart Jim Neidhart came up short in his Television Title match with his former partner Bret Hart, and was clearly looking to take his frustration out on young Regal. Regal was no pushover, and the two had a hard hitting match that left visible welts on each other's chests. Eventually, the Anvil just wore Regal down, and after a mighty running tackle that bowled over the young Englishman, Neidhart locked in the Anvilizer and forced him to tap out. But that was not enough for Neidhart, who kept putting the boots to Regal until Tony St. Clair charged out and laid into him with big forearms. Neidhart had just been through a grueling match but was still willing to throw down with Tough Tony, and it took PCW security to get the two separated. It looks like the Anvil has gained himself a new enemy in St. Clair.

I would have figured they would have at least gotten WWF syndication, but I couldn't swear to it one way or the other. Part of me wishes I could run more shows in Hawaii, I like thinking of it as the PCW vacation spot.

Pacific Coast Wrestling Aloha Spectacular 1988 from the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Night Two Brian Christopher vs. Bull Pain Like the first night, the second night of Aloha Spectacular 1988 kicked off with a singles match in the feud between Jim Cornette and Ronnie P. Gossett. Brian Christopher showed considerable promise in his early matches, but has really come into his own under the guidance of Cornette. He was facing a considerable foe in the fierce Bull Pain. Pain really took it to Christopher, and the rookie had to fight an uphill struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the big bruiser. To his credit, Christopher was able to hold his own, and the fans started thinking he might just pull off the upset. Sadly, it was not meant to be, with Pain catching him in a spinning back heel kick and dropping him hard onto the mat. He followed up with the Hangman's Drop (two handed chokeslam) and that was it. A tough loss for Christopher, but he could comfort himself in knowing that he had impressed the fans with his talent and determination Dustin Rhodes, Lou Perez & Brian Lee vs. The Undertaker & The Hollywood Vampires (The Vampire Warrior & Jimmie Lee) Another hot factional feud is the one that has blown up between the Brigade and the Neighborhood Of Evil. The defection of Barry Windham to the NOA has really ignited this war, and the newest members of the Brigade take to the ring to face off with the Undertaker and his bizarre teammates. The crowd was solidly behind the Brigade, and Lee, Perez and Rhodes held their ground against the Vampires. But when the Undertaker stepped in and got into gear, it was only a matter of time. No matter what they tried, the Brigade could not get the big man down, and the Vampires were able to hold off Lee and Rhodes while the Undertaker put Perez away with the Tombstone. A convincing win for Paul Bearer's men. Billy Jack Haynes & The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) vs. Buddy Rose & The Sin City Superstars (Scotty The Body & Reno Riggins) Two of the most colourful new teams in PCW have build up a considerable rivalry in their short time on the west coast. The masked Force Of July have quickly found the favour of the fans, while the Sin City Superstars have eschewed popularity for the guidance and protection of the Playboy Club. Buddy Rose had clearly taught them well, as they used all sorts of trickery to befuddle both their opponents and the ref. Billy Jack and the FOJ got the better of the exchanges when they were able to face them head on, but the Playboy Club did everything they could to make sure that wasn't too often. The fan favorites eventually had enough and seized control with an explosive burst of power. Patriot and Eagle clotheslined Rose and Scotty out of the ring, leaving Riggins alone with Billy Jack. Haynes hit the Shoulderbreaker and scored the pinfall. The fans cheered, but you know that the Playboy Club will make sure things don't end here. Tony St. Clair vs. Maxx Payne At San Diego Battleground, Tony St. Clair suffered a heartbreaking loss to Maxx Payne. Since then, he has been gearing up for another shot at the big man, and tonight, he would get his chance. Payne cut his usual intimidating presence, matching St. Clair with a steely gaze of his own. But St. Clair had a fire in his eyes and refused to take a backwards step to Payne. Both men landed some jarring suplexes that , little by little, chipped away at the other's defenses. St. Clair fought like a lion to make sure that Payne was not able to cinch the Payne Killer. Payne nearly hit the Payne Threshold (side suplex) , but St. Clair shut it down with a hard elbow to the face. St. Clair then wore down Payne with several forearm smashes before hitting the spinning forearm smash to put Payne down for good. Tough Tony had showed his name was well deserved and had avenged his earlier loss. The Golden Guns (Todd Morton & Jerry Lynn) vs. The Suicide Blondes (Chris Candido & Louie Spicolli) The Golden Guns have been on a bit of an upswing since taking their new name, and the Suicide Blondes are as devoted as ever to bringing victory to the Knights Templar. This made for an explosive situation, with both teams being dead set on emerging triumphant. The momentum of the match swung back and forth, but it seemed like the Blondes were going to get the win when Spicolli was setting Morton up for the Sign Of The Cross (Samoan Drop). Lynn swiftly dropkicked Morton's back , causing Spicolli to fall over backwards with Morton on top. Lynn then intercepted Candido while Morton pinned Spicolli, giving the win to the Golden Guns. California Title Match : Scott Hall © vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers At the New Years Day Special, Scott Hall made his shocking return to Pacific Coast Wrestling, winning the California Title from Mr. Bob Backlund. Since then, he has been a fighting champion, taking on all comers to prove that he is back for good. Tonight, he would be facing one of the most devious and dangerous competitors in all of PCW. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers was a mainstay of PCW from the moment of the west coast expansion, and since his return, quickly showed he has not lost a step, making the Diamond Exchange a feared faction to be reckoned with. He gave the champion all that he could handle, with both sneaky moves and just plain hard hitting wrestling. But Hall was not the inexperienced up and comer that he was on his first run in PCW. He was much more confident and self assured, coming back from Flowers' attacks and making him pay some dues. He powered out of an attempted piledriver, then levelled him with a big clothesline. He followed up with the Gator Breaker (Fallaway Slam) to take the match. Big Scott Hall is on a tear, and the fans are loving it. The Midnight Express vs. The Destruction Crew Ronnie P. Gossett's constant hectoring of the Destruction Crew as "The Tag Team Of The Future" has done something that would have previously seemed impossible : he has gotten the fans rallying behind Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express. Cornette and Gossett's respective forces have exchanged wins in their various matches, but this would be the most high profile match between the two teams. While Enos and Bloom certainly have a lot of power and muscle on their side, the superior teamwork of the Midnights was able to counter that. Eaton and Lane ran rings around the Crew, using their combination and double team moves to spectacular effect. The Crew wound up going to subterfuge. While Cornette was chasing Gossett around the ring with his tennis racquet, Enos took advantage of the distraction by tripping Eaton while coming off the ropes, setting him up for a diving clothesline by Bloom. Enos held Eaton's leg down from the outside to get Bloom the tainted win. Although they may have lost this round, you can bet that Cornette and the Midnights are planning some sort of retort. Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Coast 2 Coast (John Tatum & Jack Victory) © vs. The Bruise Brothers The Harris Twins were brought into the Playboy Club with the promise of a title shot, and it didn't take long for the Playboy to deliver. The big bruisers towered over their opponents, and it looked like the champions were behind the 8 ball in this match. But they had a few tricks of their own, using their considerable guile to stay on an even keel with the Bruise Brothers. The twins kept up their attack and seemed to be wearing down the champions, but got overconfident, with one of them charging into Tatum and catching a face full of Superkick. Victory held off the other twin and they were able to successfully defend their titles. Make no mistake, Coast 2 Coast are the real deal. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Curt Hennig © vs. Barry Windham The second night main event was the hotly anticipated Heavyweight Title match between two former friends and allies. With his shocking betrayal of Curt Hennig and the Brigade, "The Widowmaker" had declared war on his former team and set his sights on the Heavyweight Title. He had a deep scowl on his face as he headed out to the ring with Paul Bearer, ignoring the boos that rained down on him from the fans. Hennig had a look of determination, clearly set on setting aside the one time friendship and coming out as champion, no matter what. There was an added ruthlessness to Windham's offense, attacking with a viciousness that hadn't been seen before from the big Texan. Hennig kept bouncing back, showing the resiliency that had driven him to the championship. Hennig was able to get Windham set up for the Hennig-Plex, but Windham dug in and blocked the move. Then, out of nowhere, Hennig was levelled with a clothesline. The Undertaker had run into the ring and attacked him. As the ref called for the DQ, Maxx Payne, Jimmie Lee, and the Vampire Warrior soon joined the fray. The Neighborhood Of Evil brutally attacked Hennig until Scott Hall, Brian Lee, Dustin Rhodes and Lou Perez charged in to run them off. It looks like the war between the Brigade and the Neighborhood Of Evil has kicked into high gear.

Pacific Coast Wrestling Aloha Spectacular 1988 from the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Night One Vic Steamboat vs. Curtis Hughes The Honolulu fans were buzzing with excitement as the first PCW Mega Show of 1988 kicks of from the Neil S. Blaisdell Center. The crowd was solidly behind Hawaiian favorite "The Demon" Vic Steamboat as he faced off with the big roughneck Mr. Hughes. Steamboat's manager , Jim Cornette, was constantly jawing with Ronnie P. Gossett, who was in Hughes' corner, but the two wrestlers kept their focus squarely on each other. Hughes tried to use his considerable size and power to overwhelm Steamboat. But the Demon showed the ferocity of his new nickname by firing back at the Cat with everything he had. Hughes kept on attacking with increasing recklessness, leading to him charging Steamboat when he was at the ropes, only for Steamboat to flip him outside with a backdrop. Steamboat then went up top and hit a spectacular flying cross body press to the outside. Steamboat was able to beat Hughes back into the ring and the ref signaled that the Demon had won by countout. A hard fought victory that went over well with the Hawaiian crowd. The Southern Boys vs. The Holly Cousins With the influx of new teams in the PCW tag ranks, it has been a real challenge to stand out in the division. Clearly feeling the heat, the Southern Boys and the Hollys went out and had an absolute barn burner off the match. Both teams were going at top speed, and the fans were rapt with fascination as each team kept trying to one up each other. The Southern Boys were finally able to put down Crash with a double clothesline off the ropes, but it took all they had. The fans rewarded them with a huge round of applause, as both teams had left it all on the mat tonight. Doug Furnas vs. Gary Albright Ever since his arrival in PCW, "The Animal" Gary Albright has torn through the opposition without breaking a sweat. He and his manager Gary Hart have had a particular focus in calling out the Army, and to that end have signed this match with the Army's powerhouse Doug Furnas. Furnas threw everything in his considerable arsenal at Albright, and although it looked like he made a dent in the Animal's defenses, he just couldn't get Albright down. Albright was able to catch some big suplexes on Furnas that took the wind out of Doug's sails. He then locked the Oklahoma native in the Dragon Suplex and forced him to tap out. Furnas gave it his best shot, but the Animal just could not be stopped. The Lethal Weapons (Steve Blackman & Al Snow) vs. Dean & Joe Malenko With the end of the Black Gold and Bomb Squad tag teams, Blackman and Snow found themselves struggling to make any headway in PCW. By joining together as the Lethal Weapons, they have found themselves on quite an upswing. Tonight, they would face their toughest test yet in the Malenko Brothers. This was a vicious back and forth match , with the technical skill and submissions of the Malenkos being matched by the intensity and innovation of the Lethal Weapons. It seemed at different points that either team could have prevailed, until out of nowhere, Blackman caught Dean flat footed with a Bicycle Kick and Snow held off Joe long enough to get the three count . The Malenkos and their manager Gary Hart were seething, but the Lethal Weapons and the fans were jubilant at this victory. The Cheetah Kid vs. Angel Acevedo In his short time in PCW, Cheetah Kid has made a reputation as a top high flyer. But when he faced the double tough enforcer of the Diamond Exchange, he surprised the fans by be willing to go down and dirty with the Cuban Assassin. The masked man may be new to PCW, but has a fair amount of experience, and seemed to have a counter for every trick Acevedo threw at him. He was able to take the Assassin down with a somersault flip off the ropes, then pin him with a Power Bomb. The Cheetah Kid was triumphant in his first PCW Mega Show. A sign of things to come? Falls Count Anywhere Match : Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Cactus Jack These two rough and tumble young men have been having one of the sleeper feuds of the past few months, with several brutal matches that have left the PCW crowds agog. It has gotten to the point where the action could not be contained to the ring, resulting in this falls count anywhere match. It got off to a rollicking start from the moment the bell rang, when Cactus ambushed PCO and sent him out of the ring with the Cactus Clothesline. These two waged a ferocious war throughout the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, going up and down the aisles and into the audience. Both men were battered, bruised and bloodied by the time Ouellet hit a piledriver onto the concrete to finally put Cactus down for the count. It took everything he had, but the popular French Canadian had come out on top. Owen Hart vs. Buzz Sawyer Another slow burning but strong feud has been between the Snowbirds and the Diamond Exchange, with some of the most heated matches between Buzz Sawyer and young Owen Hart. The kept that going into this match, as the two battled with a white hot intensity that just would not let up. Owen kept up his attack with his dazzling high flying moves and considerable technical skills, while Sawyer kept up a steady barrage of big lefts and rights. It looked like Owen might just turn the tide but he got overconfident and Sawyer caught him coming off the ropes with a crushing powerslam. Sawyer followed up with a Bombs Awa Kneedrop and that was that. Owen gave it his best shot but came up just short against the Mad Dog. Submission Title Match : Bob Backlund © vs. Dan Severn Ever since he won the Submission Title from Dan Severn last year, Bob Backlund has kept the title belt secure around his waist, seeing off a host of challengers. But the Beast has fought hard to get himself back into contention, and tonight, he would finally get his rematch. Both the Army and the Knights Templar were at ringside observing the match, but did not interfere as the two men got it done in the middle of the ring. Backlund and Severn had a scientific masterpiece, which the experience of the champion being tested by the youth and versatility of the challenger. Several times it looked like Severn might have Backlund trapped, only for the champion to escape by the skin of his teeth. Backlund in turn wrenched Severn's limbs every which way, but the Beast would not give in. It looked like it would be another successful defense for Backlund when he got Severn set for the Cross Face Chicken Wing in the middle of the ring. But, quick as a flash, Severn reversed it, applying his own Chicken Wing. Backlund flailed mightily trying to escape. But Severn kept him in the hold with the vice like grip of his powerful legs, and after a protracted struggle, Backlund tapped out. Severn had done it! The Army celebrated with him as he put the belt around his waist. The Knights Templar looked disappointed but helped their fallen leader to the back. Severn was now the champion. But with a host of tough challengers gunning for title, he was going to be in for a trying reign. Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Brian Pillman © vs. Cyrus The Virus The mysterious Cyrus had come, seemingly out of nowhere but actually from Canada, like a plague to PCW , joining with the Wild Things and getting several impressive victories while bewildering people with his disturbing personality. It was a testament to his talent that he was able to earn a title match so soon in his career, and he was looking to make the most of it. Pillman was clearly taking this new threat to his title very seriously, not letting down his guard for an instant. Even so, Cyrus did manage to sneak in some cheap shots and psychological warfare, and Pillman had his hands full with this devious young challenger. The champion's experience proved the deciding factor when Cyrus monkey flipped Pillman out of the ring, only for Pillman to catch himself on the top rope and land on the ring apron. Cyrus took a moment to congratulate himself , only turn around and be hit with the Air Pillman. Pillman had survived as champion, but Cyrus proved he had truly arrived as a contender. Golden State Tag Team Title Match : British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) © vs. Art Barr & Eddie Guerrero The team of Regal and Brookside faced a lot of trials in 1987, at one point looking like they might break up, but they came through stronger than ever, winning the Golden State Tag Team Titles. Since then , they have been constantly pursued by the hungry young Wild Things team of Barr and Guerrero. The Wild Things were relentless in this match, and though British Steel certainly got their own shots in, the constant skullduggery of the challengers was starting to take its toll. Guerrero was aiming to put the match away when he had Brookside set up for an over the shoulder neckbreaker. But Brookside blocked it and countered with a backslide that just barely kept Guerrero's shoulders to the mat for the three count. British Steel were able to hold onto their titles, but judging by the way Guerrero and Barr were whispering to each other as they left the ring, they weren't done with the Wild Things by a long chalk. Pacific Television Title Match : Bret Hart © vs. Jim Neidhart The first night of the Mega Show would come to a close with this highly anticipated match between two brothers in law and former partners and friends. Ever since Neidhart's betrayal of Hart and joining the Knights Templar , it had been no secret that he would soon be coming after the Hitman. Tonight, he would also been looking to gain the title that had previously been held by his mentor, Bob Backlund. The Anvil pounded Bret hard, battering him with brutal forearm shots and knocking him down with mighty shoulder tackles. Bret was able to get Neidhart down to the mat, but could not wrap up his big strong legs in the Sharpshooter. Bret was able to fight out of some attempts at the Anvilizer, and though Neidhart was able to apply the Camel Clutch, he was too close to the ropes and was forced to break the hold. Neidhart was able to set Bret up for the kill when he whipped him hard into the turnbuckle and charged in with a shoulder tackle. But Bret dodged out of the way just in time and Neidhart went into the corner and hit his shoulder on the corner post. Bret was able to roll him up and Neidhart was unable to kick out. The Hitman was able to survive his toughest title match yet and score the victory. Next up : Night Two!

Pacific Coast Wrestling Show from the UCSB Event Center, Santa Barbara, February 19th Al Snow vs. Joe Malenko Another technical singles match between members of the Lethal Weapons and the Malenkos that went back and forth until Joe forced Snow to tap out to a Boston Crab Doug Furnas vs. Cactus Jack Big Doug overpowered Cactus with the Volunteer Slam (running Canadian Backbreaker into the corner) The Midnight Express vs. The Hollywood Vampires (The Vampire Warrior & Jimmie Lee) The Midnights did well against the Neighborhood Of Evil but went down when the Destruction Crew snuck in the ring and clobbered Lane with their sledge hammers, setting him up for the Spinal Grinder from "The Gravedigger" Jimmie Lee Dan Severn vs. Maxx Payne Severn faced the sternest test of his career when he was able to survive big Maxx Payne's attempts to trap him in the Payne Killer and forced him to tap out to a guillotine choke Golden State Tag Team Title Match : British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) © vs. The Destruction Crew Enos and Bloom were going for their first tag title shot in their young PCW career, and were out to make the most of it. Their combination of power and ruthlessness presented quite a challenge to the young Englishmen. But their recent past came back to haunt them as the Midnight Express , seeking payback for the earlier interference, took advantage of a ref distraction and clipped Enos from behind. This left him easy prey for the Regal-Plex and a win for British Steel. Pacific Television Title Match : Bret Hart © vs. Buzz Sawyer Brett was facing an incredible challenge in the unhinged and determined Buzz Sawyer. This was a ferocious battle that wound up going to a 30 minute time limit draw.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the LA Sports Arena, Los Angeles, on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN, February 18th Vic Steamboat vs. Angel Acevedo "The Demon" proved he was really back when he defeated "The Cuban Assassin" when he hit the Flying Cross Body Press on Acevedo. Tony St. Clair vs. Jim Neidhart As one my guess, an incredibly tough battle that went to the Anvil when he hit "Tough" Tony with a running forearm smash The Cheetah Kid vs. Chris Candido The Cheetah Kid continued to impress when he pinned the formed Light Heavyweight champ with a Sunset Flip out of the corner Billy Jack Haynes, The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) , & Coast 2 Coast (John Tatum & Jack Victory) vs. The Playboy Club (Buddy Rose, Scotty The Body, Reno Riggins, & The Bruise Brothers) An epic ten man tag that the Playboy Club took by subterfuge when one of the Harris Twins sneakily took the place of his brother by ambushing Tatum with a front kick and getting the pinfall California Title Match : Scott Hall © vs. Bob Backlund An intense battle that went down to Backlund attempting a German Suplex, only for Hall to block it and counter with a Belly To Back suplex and successfully defend his title Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Curt Hennig © vs. The Undertaker Hennig fought hard against the Dead Man, but wound up facing a two on one ambush when he was attacked by Barry Windham. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN, February 17th The Hollywood Vampires (The Vampire Warrior & Jimmie Lee) vs. Jiff Wilson & Willard Smith Yikes. The Neighborhood Of Evil have been a threat ever since their inception, but emboldened by their recent attacks on members of the Brigade, the Hollywood Vampires let out all the stops in this match. They steamrolled over Wilson and Smith, with Warrior pinning Smith with the Impaler while the Gravedigger hit the Spinal Grinder on Wilson on the concrete. The Brigade are really going to need to rally if they are going to survive this. Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Louie Spicolli After both his partner Big Jos Leduc and his good friend Cannonball Grizzly left PCW, Ouellet found himself a man standing alone. Not one to give up against the odds, Ouellet has taken on a variety of tough competitors, taking a licking but always giving as well as he got and earning respect. He brought that determination to his match with one half of the Suicide Blondes, the burly Louie Spicolli. Spicolli certainly tried to overpower Ouellet, but the French Canadian came here to fight, and was able to knock down Spicolli and hit the Flying Senton for the victory. It never pays to underestimate PCO. Lou Perez, Dustin Rhodes & Brian Lee vs. Cyrus The Virus & The Holly Cousins It looks like "Bulldozer" Brian Lee is well and truly in the Brigade now, as he, Perez and Rhodes gear up for their showdown with the Neighborhood Of Evil next week at Aloha Spectacular. The trio meshed well as they too on the odd assemblage of Cyrus and the Holly Cousins. All three Brigade members got their chance to shine, with Perez getting the pinfall on Crash after a Helicopter Slam while Rhodes and Lee clotheslined Bob and Cyrus out of the ring. A big victory, but given the recent actions of the Undertaker and the Hollywood Vampires, the Brigade will need all the momentum they can manager for their upcoming match. Steve Blackman vs. Dean Malenko After a rough start to the year, Blackman has been on something of a surge since forming the Lethal Weapons with Al Snow. Snow joined Blackman at ringside along with Army leader Dan Severn, while Dean Malenko was accompanied by his brother Joe and manager Gary Hart, but the action was kept to the ring in an intense technical showdown. Dean had the advantage in takedowns and submission holds, while Blackman had the edge in kicks and strikes. This proved to make the difference as Blackman caught Dean flat footed with a running Bicycle Kick for the pinfall. A big win for Blackman, but you can bet that the Malenkos will be out to even the score. The Southern Boys vs. Art Barr & Eddie Guerrero With a big Golden State Tag Team Title match coming up at Aloha Spectacular, the Wild Things faced a considerable stumbling block in Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong. The Southern Boys gave a considerable fight to Barr and Guerrero, with the Wild Things backpedaling through much of the match. They went to the gutter to pull out the win, with Barr sneaking in a low blow from behind on Armstrong to set him up for a reverse neckbreaker from Guerrero. A dirty win but a win nonetheless, and the Wild Things have to be hoping they can keep that trend up going into their title match with British Steel.
