  1. Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the LA Sports Arena, Los Angeles, on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN, August 20th Bret Hart vs. Buddy Rose The Playboy faced a stern test in one of the fasted rising young stars in PCW. No matter what tricks Rose pulled out of his sleeve, Bret had a ready counter for it. But he had one last game to play. When Bret tried to apply the Sharpshooter, Rose pulled a set of brass knucks out of his trunks and clocked him with them. Having cannily done this outside the eyesight of the ref, Rose rolled up Hart to steal the win. Billy Jack Haynes vs. Curtis Hughes Just one week from his big match with Nick Bockwinkel, Billy Jack faced a considerable challenge in Curtis Hughes . The big roughneck and the Oregon powerhouse went at it fist and fire, and it took Billy Jack coming off the top rope with a devastating flying clothesline to put Hughes down for good. Konnan vs. Ed Gantner Gantner was heading for a big challenge of his own in the Pacific Television champ Tony St. Clair, and was in no mood to trifle. No matter what Konnan did, the Big Bull kept tearing at him, and when Gantner hit the Bull Hammer (running forearm smash to the face), the masked man went down for the count. Dan Severn vs. Gary Young Mr. Bob Backlund and the rest of the Knights Templar were at ringside for this match, but Backlund ordered them to stand down and simply observe. Young threw everything he had at Severn, but the Beast maintained an icy cool until Young wore himself out, then kicked it in gear with a series of crushing suplex, followed by a body scissors sleeper that forced him to tap out. As he led Young and his men away from the ring, Backlund was silent, but his look of stern disapproval spoke volumes. Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Black Gold © (Steve Blackman & Shane Douglas) vs. Badd Company Badd Company gave Black Gold an incredible run for the money in this match, coming very close on several occasions to taking the titles, but Blackman was able to hit a lightning quick Bicycle Kick on Tanaka to pull out a successful defense. After the match, Paul Diamond asked for the ringside microphone. He then said that , after a long and successful run in Pacific Coast Wrestling, Badd Company's time their was done. While they had not always done what the fans wanted of them, they had always enjoyed their time on the west coast and done everything the could to be top competitors, but it was time to move on, and they would be starting a new run in Windy City Pro Wrestling. No matter what side of the battle lines they were on, the fans always showed respect for their abilities, and for that, both Pat and Paul were grateful. The fans applauded as Tanaka and Diamond shook hands with Blackman and Douglas before leaving the PCW ring for the last time. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Ron Garvin For his last defense before Phoenix Firestorm, Bockwinkel would face the Man With The Hands Of Stone. Garvin went full bore against Bockwinkel, and by the end of the match, Bock's chest was beet red from the merciless chops he was given, but Bockwinkel prevailed after hitting not one but two piledrivers.
  2. Good plan, I had a lot of fun with him in the previous project as a manager.
  3. Yeah, for all I know, this could be totally kayfabe. Or just my memory playing tricks on me.
  4. For some reason, I had recalled reading somewhere that he started as a wrestler, switched over to managing early on after an injury, then switched back to managing in 1991. I have searched and found no verifiable evidence or matches from this. Yes, he certainly should be available as a manager, he was managing Badd Company at this time.
  5. Wow, just found another big one : Diamond Dallas Page.
  6. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN, US Steel & Black Gold (Steve Blackman & Shane Douglas) vs. Jim Neidhart & The Bomb Squad (Chris Candido & Al Snow) http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/pictures/s/steveblackman/05.jpg Last week, after no doubt getting a stern talking to from Mr. Bob Backlund, Neidhart and the Bomb Squad rallied to pull out some big victories. This week, they came together to face the Army in a six man match that was all action. The Knights were reinvigorated by their recent success and were extremely competitive with the army. But things took a turn when all men wound up brawling in the ring. As the ref struggled to get some sort of control, Gary Hart snuck in the ring and hit a DDT on Douglas, leaving him for Snow to go for the cover. However, the ref caught sight of what he did out of the corner of his eye, and instead of making the count he called for the DQ. Backlund was furious with Young for costing his team the victory, and Neidhart and the Bomb Squad were equally angry. Backlund was clearly lambasting Young as they left the ring. Sid Vicious vs. Dan Barry This was quick and nasty. Sid Vicious simply stormed the ring, grabbed Barry, drove him to the mat with a massive power bomb, and placed his foot on the unconscious Barry's chest while the ref made the count. Percy Pringle barely had time to waddle to ringside in time for the ref's hand hitting the mat for the third time. With a big match upcoming at Phoenix Firestorm, Konnan certainly has his work cut out for him if he wants to come out on top. Leo Burke vs. Cactus Jack While Burke looked saddened when he saw his former pupil across the ring from him, he didn't have much chance to feel any kind of remorse, as Cactus didn't wait for the ring bell and went after him right away. The seasoned veteran didn't take long to get his bearings, and the two had an intense battle, with Cactus recklessly throwing everything he had at Burke and Burke maintaining a steely determination. Cactus went for broke when he tried to hit the side Russian Legsweep, but Burke grabbed the ropes to block it, then levelled Cactus with a clothesline for the win. Burke gave Cactus a disappointed look as he left the ring, but all Cactus had in return was a deranged grin. Brian Pillman vs. Sabu This was one of the fasted paced match of the night, with Pillman and Sabu kicking things into gear at blinding speed with plentiful high flying moves and hard shots. While Sabu was his usual crazy self, Pillman was showing the increased toughness that he has been displaying lately, leathering Sabu's chest with intense backhand chops and charging back no matter what Sabu hit him with. Pillman was able to go up top and hit a flying clothesline that brought him one of his most hard fought victories yet. Vic Steamboat vs. Cannonball Grizzly http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/pictures/v/vicsteamboat/03.jpg Buddy Rose was in Grizzly's corner for his match, and whispered something in his ear when the bell rang. Whatever it was he said, it was certainly motivating, as Grizzly proceeded to toss young Steamboat all over the ring. Steamboat tried hard, but the big Grizzly just plain overwhelmed him. Grizzly went up top and hit the Cannonball Crush (top rope flying splash) and it seemed like that was that. But in an act of what could only be pure sadism, Rose ordered him to go back up again and hit a second Crush, and Grizzly obliged before finally getting the pinfall. Steamboat was clearly in agony from his ribs as he left the ring, and that doesn't bode well for his upcoming match at Phoenix Firestorm against the Midnight Express. Ron Simmons vs. Ed Wiskowski The Playboy was conspicuous by his absence for this match, but the Polish Prince didn't let that hold him back any, hitting hard and viciously against the former Florida State All American. Simmons gave everything back with interest, and the two powerful warriors had a titanic struggle. Although Wiskowski was a lot to overcome, Simmons was able to finally put him down with a running spear and get the one two three. Simmons had his hand raised in victory, but he certainly had to work hard for it.
  7. Have spotted two more for the draft : Brian Lee and Del Wilkes both made their debut in 1988.
  8. Looking forward to enjoying your creativity.
  9. Small correction on the Twin States roster : Konnan is listed as retiring in 1988 but he is not.
  10. So it is. Will stay with Steve Wright, then.
  11. Also dropping Steve Wright for Super Strong Machine.
  12. Change of plans, dropping Miguel Perez Jr for Timothy Flowers.
  13. Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Selland Arena, Fresno, August 14th Leo Burke vs. Jim Neidhart Mr. Bob Backlund kept up his run of appearing in his men's corner with this match, but remained silent and simply thoughtfully observed throughout. The Anvil had a tough matchup with the veteran Burke, but was able to fight his way out of an attempted Sleeper and was able to hit a running powerslam for the pinfall. Backlund nodded approvingly and patted him on the shoulder after the match. If nothing else, it looks like Neidhart has worked his way back into his mentor's favor. Brian Pillman vs. Cactus Jack One of the rising young stars of PCW faced perhaps the wildest man in the Wild Things in an out of control match where Pillman was just barely able to keep down Cactus with the Air Pillman. Vic Steamboat vs. Stan Lane Bobby Eaton snuck in the ring and clipped Steamboat from behind, setting him up for a Savate Kick from Lane that gave the win to the Midnight's side. Texas Red vs. Ed Wiskowski A battle between two big men that Texas won after knocking Easy Ed to the mat with a Western Lariat Chavo Guerrero vs. Ed Gantner Chavo did his best but was flat out overpowered by Gantner who took him down with the Bull Hammer (running forearm smash to the face) British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. Art Barr & Eddie Guerrero A super fast paced and exciting tag match with plenty of near falls that could have gone either way but wound up going to British Steel when Brookside pinned Eddie with a Sunset Flip California & Submission Title Match : Bob Backlund © vs. Jeff Jarrett Mr. Bob Backlund ordered the Knights Templar to stand at the back of the arena and observe from afar for his match. That might have proved to be a mistake, as Jarrett wound up giving him an incredible fight, which went long and ended up spilling to the outside when they ended up getting counted out while brawling in the ringside area.
  14. To fill the gaps on my roster, PCW picks up : Angel Acevedo Miguel Perez Jr. Mr. Hito Todd Morton Steve Wright
  15. Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Cow Palace , San Francisco, on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN, August 13th Gary Young vs. Paul Diamond As usual, Mr. Bob Backlund was at ringside for his man Young's match. Young was particularly aggressive with Diamond, leading to several mistakes during the match. He was still able to hit the DDT, and Backlund ordered him to go for the pinfall, but Gary wanted to administer more punishment, and hauled Diamond back to his feet for another DDT. Diamond still had the wherewithal to counter the attempt with a small package which came very close to getting the 3 count. A disgruntled Young then hit a running elbow smash on Diamond that finally scored the pinfall. Backlund was giving Young an earful as he led him away from the ring. Coast 2 Coast (John Tatum & Jack Victory) & John Tenta vs. Tabarnak De Team (Big Jos Leduc & Pierre Carl Ouellet) & Cannonball Grizzly Leduc tried to get Victory in a Bearhug, but Victory blocked it and countered with the Victory-Plex for the win Shane Douglas vs. Chris Candido Like the day before, both men had their partners and mentors in their corners. The two young stars had a tightly contended technical match where Douglas tried for a belly to belly suplex, but Candido countered by knocking him to the mat with a diving clothesline. He then went up top and hit a New Jersey Jam (flying legdrop) for the victory . Out of nowhere, the Bomb Squad have put themselves in contention for the Pacific Tag Team Titles. Konnan & Ron Simmons vs. Sid Vicious & Maxx Payne Another chapter in the war between Konnan and Sid Vicious. This time out, Vicious was able to hit the Power Bomb on Konnan while Payne held off Simmons to score the one two three. Hector Guerrero vs. Buddy Rose Guerrero came very close to pinning Rose on several occasions, but ultimately the Playboy was able to draw him into the Inside Out Backbreaker and emerge victorious Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Black Tiger © vs. Owen Hart This was another Light Heavyweight Title classic that went long and had the fans on the edge of their seats throughout. Owen tried to finish off Tiger with a victory roll, but Tiger blocked it partway through and held Owen's shoulders to the mat for the three count. Barry Windham & Curt Hennig vs. Nick Bockwinkel & One Man Gang While Windham and Gang slugged it out, Bockwinkel was setting Hennig up for a belly to back suplex, but Hennig turned it around into a Cradle Suplex to pull off a major victory.
  16. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, on ESPN / TSN, August 12th Jim Neidhart vs. Pat Tanaka After all of the shenanigans of last week, Mr. Bob Backlund was out to keep a close eye on his newest pupil. He had a deep scowl on his face as Neidhart took on one half of Badd Company, but the Anvil paid close attention to the words of his mentor, taking his cues from every command that was given. He bowled over Tanaka with jarring tackles and slams before putting him in the Camel Clutch, almost immediately forcing the tap out. Neidhart released the hold when Backlund told him to, and while it seemed like he wanted to administer more punishment to Tanaka, he left the ring on the orders of Backlund and followed him dutifully back to the locker room. It looks like Backlund is going to tolerate no more misbehavior from his charges. Akira Maeda vs. Doug Furnas In the past few weeks, Maeda has had some matches with various members of the Pride. While Maeda has come out victorious, his manager Gary Hart has taken a particular interest in the Pride, closely observing the matches. Furnas came out with his fellow Pride members Dean and Joe Malenko, who stood either side of him as Maeda and Hart entered the ring. Furnas and Maeda had a long stair down until Hart came over and said something to him. He and the Malenkos listened intently to whatever it was he was saying … then they shook hands with Hart and Maeda and all left the ring together without a match taking place. Uh oh. Steve Blackman vs. Al Snow http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/pictures/s/steveblackman/05.jpg Once again, Mr. Bob Backlund was out to keep an eye on one of the Knight's Templar, as well as Snow's Bomb Squad partner Chris Candido. Snow in turn brought out Shane Douglas and Leo Burke to even the sides. At several time, Candido looked like he wanted to interfere on behalf of his partner, but Backlund ordered him to stay put and watch the match, and Candido obeyed. Snow and Blackman had a gripping match that looked like it would go to Blackman when he whipped Snow into the ropes and went for the running bicycle kick. But Snow dodged it and caught Blackman in a roll up. Blackman kicked out, but the moment he got back to his feet, Snow took him down again with a back heel kick. Snow then followed up with a wheelbarrow suplex that got the three count. Backlund nodded in approval, and well he should, as his man had pulled off a victory over one half of the Pacific Tag Team champs. Brian Adams vs. Bobby Eaton This would also be a singles match between tag wrestlers, and once again , their partners would be at ringside, with Stan Lane joining Jim Cornette in Eaton's corner while Vic Steamboat was present to watch Adams' back. Lane and Eaton were much less reluctant than the Knights Templar to interfere in the match , and Steamboat was frequently protesting to the ref at their actions. Eventually, he had enough and went over to pull Cornette off the ring apron. He wound up brawling with Lane, and Eaton tried to take advantage of this distraction by sneaking up on Adams, but Adams had him spotted and swiftly hit a devastating spinning backbreaker. The ref dashed over and made the count. A big victory for the Rainbow Warriors, but you can bet that Cornette and the Midnight Express aren't going to take this lying down. Curt Hennig vs. Rick Gantner http://pwtorch.com/artman2/uploads/3/HennigAWA2_1.jpg With his big brother Ed gunning for Tony St. Clair's Television Title, Rick Gantner has fought to get respect for his own abilities. He certainly had his work cut out for him tonight, as he was facing one of the most respected young wrestlers in Pacific Coast Wrestling. Gantner gave Hennig quite the battle , and Hennig had to struggle hard on a number of occasions to escape the Hangman's Drop (two handed chokeslam) . No matter what Hennig did, he could not get the cradle suplex on the big Wild Bull. He was finally able to stagger Gantner with a precision dropkick before finally taking him down for the count with the Axe Lariat. Hennig might have gotten the win, but Gantner proved he is a force to be reckoned with , and Ronnie P. Gossett has nothing to be ashamed of for his efforts tonight.
  17. Pacific Coast Wrestling show from McArthur Court, Eugene, August 7th British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. Badd Company Hot on the heels of Golden State Tag Champs TDT, British Steel had a hotly contested match with Badd Company but prevailed when Regal hit the Regal-Plex on Paul Diamond. Mando Guerrero vs. Joe Malenko This was an intense technical showdown with plenty of mat wrestling that went to Malenko when he executed a German Suplex US Steel vs. Gary Young With the new arrival to the Knights Templar of Jim Neidhart, Gary Hart has been out to reestablish himself, and went all out against US Steel. He kept the big man off balance, but Steel was able to rally and ended up crushing Young with the Steeldriver (front slam) Hector Guerrero vs. One Man Gang Hector did the best that he could, but the Big 747 was too much to overcome, and Gang pinned him after a front layout suplex. Bob Backlund & The Bomb Squad (Chris Candido & Al Snow) vs. Brett Hart, Owen Hart & Brian Pillman Mr. Bob Backlund was clearly less than happy with the performance of his Knights Templar and was determined to take command of his men and lead them back to victory. The result was a war with Pillman and the Harts where the momentum of battle swung back and forth but came to a head when Pillman hit the Air Pillman on Chris Candido and pulled out the victory. Backlund looked extremely disgruntled as he led his men away from the ring. Pacific Television Title Match : Tony St. Clair © vs. Curtis Hughes The Cat gave quite a mauling to St. Clair, attacking him with a relentless fury, but "Tough" Tony was able to withstand the assault and shut down Hughes with the Spinning Forearm Smash.
  18. Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum , Portland , on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN, August 6th Ron Garvin & John Tenta vs. Cannonball Grizzly & Ed Wiskowski Garvin and Tenta continued their war with the Playboy Club with Garvin knocking out Wiskowski with the Hands Of Stone Punch Konnan vs. Doug Furnas Two of the young guns of PCW had a power battle with Furnas blocking an attempted Implant DDT by Konnan and countering with a bridging back suplex for the win Coast 2 Coast (John Tatum & Jack Victory) vs. Art Barr & Eddie Guerrero Initially, all four members of the Wild Things came out together, but the ref ordered Cactus Jack and Sabu to the back and threatened them with a fine if they interfered in the match. Regardless, Art and Eddie gave a considerable challenge to Coast 2 Coast until Tatum was able to hit the Superkick on Eddie and pull out the win. Fit Finlay vs. Buddy Rose Late in the match, Cannonball Grizzly and Ed Wiskowski came out to interfere, but were intercepted by Ron Garvin and John Tenta. While this distraction was going on, Finlay leveled Rose with a lariat to score the pinfall. Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Black Gold (Steve Blackman & Shane Douglas) © vs. Cactus Jack & Sabu Unlike their mentors, Blackman and Douglas showed no reluctance at all in throwing down with their former friends, and the result was a crazy match that ended then Douglas hit a flying cross body press on Sabu to successfully defend their titles. 2/3 Falls Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Curt Hennig While not quite as lengthy as some of his recent matches, this was still an epic match for Bockwinkel as he faced a challenge from Curt Hennig. Bockwinkel took the first fall with a belly to back suplex. Hennig evened things up when he hit a top rope missile dropkick. It seemed like just might pull it off when he set up Bockwinkel for a cradle suplex, but the champ countered with a small package for the victory.
  19. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN, August 5th Leo Burke & Chavo Guerrero vs. Art Barr & Eddie Guerrero Last week, a truce was declared between the Army and the Guerrero Brothers as they agreed to work together to try to tame the Wild Things. With Leo Burke and Chavo Guerrero teaming up tonight, they still seemed reluctant to do battle with their former charges. Barr and Eddie had no such reservations, and went at it hard with the new alliance. After a while , though, the veteran instincts of the older wrestlers kicked in and they took control of the match. Burke managed to lock Eddie in the Sleeper Hold while Chavo held off Art, but this turned out to be the prompt for Cactus Jack and Sabu to charge out to the ring and break up the hold. As the ref called for the DQ, the Wild Things continued their attack on Burke and Chavo, but the moment that Mando and Hector Guerrero ran out to even the sides, the Wild Things bailed out of the ring. If the Burke and his new friends are hoping to rein in their former allies, it doesn't look like the Wild Things are keen to listen. Barry Windham vs. Maxx Payne Windham has been engaged in a long, brutal feud with another big man, the One Man Gang, and was not about to be intimidated by the towering Maxx Payne. Last week in Vancouver, his match with Payne was interrupted by an attack from Gang, but with OMG not at the arena this week, he was looking for revenge for that double team. That said, Payne seemed to feel he had nothing to prove, and tore into the former Pacific Heavyweight champ with a vicious fury. The two gladiators slugged it out, with neither man giving an inch until Windham was finally able to put Payne down for good with a running Bulldog Headlock. A hard fought victory but one that sends a message from Windham to the Big 747. Owen Hart vs. Jim Neidhart Ever since he turned on them, Jim Neidhart has been in various tag matches against the members of the Hart Family but this would be the first time he would face off in a one on one match. He was squaring off with Owen Hart, the youngest of the family, and it was a tense battle between the toughness of the Anvil and the resilience of Owen. The two did battle until Owen, sensing he needed to do something more high impact to take down Neidhart, went to the top rope. Neidhart had spotted that and seemed to be readying some sort of counter, but we will never know for sure as Gary Young came racing out and knocked Owen off the top rope. The ref called for the DQ and Bret Hart and Brian Pillman ran out to protect their fallen partner. On the way back to the locker room, Neidhart was heard arguing with Young that he had the situation well in hand and his interference was not welcome, but Young seemed completely disinterested in listening to anything he had to say. Akira Maeda vs. Dean Malenko Ever since last week, Gary Hart has started showing a keen interest in the members of the Pride, and could be seen giving some sort of instructions to his man Maeda before the match. Whatever they were, they certainly weren't to take it easy on him, as Maeda laced into Malenko with vicious kicks throughout the match. Hard hitting though they were, Malenko gutted out the attack and was able to counter with various takedowns that led to leglocks where Maeda had to struggle to escape. The two played the proverbial game of human chess until Maeda was ultimately able to execute a Capture Suplex and pin the younger Malenko's shoulders to the mat. After the match, Maeda helped Malenko to his feet and shook his hand, while Gary Hart whispered something in Dean's ear. Whatever it was, Malenko seemed to be pondering it as the two sides separately left the ring. Dan Severn & Jeff Jarrett vs. Badd Company Speaking of Gary Hart, once again he was absent from the corner of Badd Company in their match with PCW's Odd Couple. Tanaka and Diamond kept up their recent habits of clean cut wrestling and gave a considerable challenge to Severn and Jarrett before Severn was able to trap Tanaka in the Body Scissors Sleeper for the submission win. Post match, Tanaka and Diamond shook hands with Jarrett and Severn, continuing their trend of atypically gentlemanly behaviour. Billy Jack Haynes, Texas Red & The Rainbow Warriors (Vic Steamboat & Brian Adams) vs. Nick Bockwinkel, Big Bubba Rogers & The Midnight Express http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/pictures/v/vicsteamboat/03.jpg With several pinfalls in recent tag matches over Nick Bockwinkel, Billy Jack is riding high and eagerly took the opportunity to get in the ring with him again. Knowing that he was going to have to defend his title against Haynes at Phoenix Firestorm, Bockwinkel did everything he could to avoid getting involved in the match, taking advantage of having Camp Cornette on his team. With Big Bubba blocking for him and the Midnight Express spreading chaos wherever they went, Bockwinkel bided his time until Haynes had soaked up what he felt was enough damage . That's when the champ struck, doing what he could to break down the big man from the North West. He failed to account for how quickly Billy Jack could recover, and it wasn't long before Haynes started unloading with big lefts and rights. Jim Cornette tried to turn the tide by getting up on the ring apron to toss in his tennis racquet, but Billy Jack whirled around and grabbed Cornette by the throat. While Cornette immediately started panicking and pleading, Bockwinkel snuck up behind and executed a Schoolboy Rollup , grabbing a fistful of trunks to get a leveraged pin. A dirty victory, but Bockwinkel can't take too much pleasure in it, knowing he will have no one else to protect him from Billy Jack in a few weeks.
  20. With Pacific Coast Wrestling returning to Arizona at the end of the month for our big Phoenix Firestorm show, we are proud to make our Main Event announcement. Once again, it will be a two night event, and we are excited to announce two great matches to headline each night. Night One Pacific Light Heavyweight 2/3 Falls Match : Black Tiger (c) vs. Brian Pillman Night Two Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Nick Bockwinkel (c) vs. Billy Jack Haynes
  21. Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Kelowna Memorial Arena, Kelowna, July 31st John Tenta vs. Cannonball Grizzly The evening kicked off with a bruising battle of two super heavyweights that ended when Tenta came roaring out of the corner to take down Grizzly with a clothesline, then followed up with the Big Quake to get a win that greatly pleased the Canadian fans Steven Regal vs. Buddy Rose Regal gave quite a battle to Rose but the veteran cunning of the Playboy spelled the difference when he lured Regal into attempting a forearm smash, which Rose dodged then caught him with the Inside Out Backbreaker to pull out the victory Ron Simmons, Dingo Warrior & Konnan vs. Sid Vicious, Curtis Hughes & Rick Gantner Sid was so focused on brawling with Konnan that he failed to notice the tag made to Ron Simmons, who blindsided the big man with a running spear for the win US Steel vs. Ed Gantner While Steel put in a valiant effort, the big Bull would not be denied and Gantner took the match with the Bull Hammer (running forearm smash to the face) Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Black Tiger © vs. Brian Pillman Coming off his tag victory the night before, Pillman was determined that the Light Heavyweight Title would be his. Black Tiger was equally determined to maintain his hold on the title, and the result was a gripping showdown of Human Chess that wound up going to a 30 minute time limit draw. The Rainbow Warriors (Vic Steamboat & Brian Adams) vs. The Midnight Express A hotly contested tag match where Stan Lane blindsided Steamboat with a Savate Kick to the back of the head that set him up to be pinned by Bobby Eaton Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Black Gold (Steve Blackman & Shane Douglas) © vs. Badd Company Oddly, Badd Company came out without their manager Gary Hart. They wrestled a fairly clean match and gave a considerable challenge before Douglas took down Paul Diamond with a belly to belly suplex. Badd Company shook hands with the champions after the match.
  22. Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN , July 30th Owen Hart & Brian Pillman vs. The Bomb Squad (Chris Candido & Al Snow) The evening got off to a fast paced start with an exciting tag match. The Canadian fans cheered extra loud when Owen pinned Candido following a Moonsault. Mando Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko The newly refocused Mando had a long technical battle with Dean, but the match ultimately went to the younger Malenko Brother when he forced Guerrero to tap out to the Texas Cloverleaf. Barry Windham vs. Maxx Payne A hard hitting battle that Barry won by DQ when he was attacked by One Man Gang. With none of the other members of the Brigade at this show, Windham was at a disadvantage when Payne and Gang double teamed him, but Billy Jack Haynes and Texas Red ran out to run the villains off Tony St. Clair & British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. Ed Wiskowski & Tabarnak De Team (Big Jos Leduc & Pierre Carl Ouellet) A bit of an upset when Brookside pinned Ouellet with a Sunset Flip. This pinfall over the Golden State Tag Champs would have to springboard British Steel to the front of the contenders pack. California & Submission Title Match : Bob Backlund © vs. Bret Hart Mr. Bob Backlund had Jim Neidhart in his corner for this match and, likely due to the shenanigans occurring the night before, Backlund gave the Anvil strict orders to keep his considerable temper in check. While Neidhart and Bret stared daggers at each other through the match, the Anvil kept his word and kept his cool. Backlund and Hart had a long , epic match that seemed to be a duel between the Crossface Chicken Wing and the Sharpshooter. Ultimately, however, Backlund was able to trap Bret in the middle of the ring in a Boston Crab to force him to give up the match. Billy Jack Haynes & Texas Red vs. Nick Bockwinkel & One Man Gang As payback for the earlier attack, Barry Windham came out and pulled Gang off the ring apron. As the two slugged it out, Billy Jack and Red took advantage of the distraction by hitting a thundering double shoulder tackle and Billy Jack swiftly got the pinfall on Bockwinkel.
  23. It was the older Malenko, Joe, that Maeda was facing.
  24. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria, on ESPN / TSN, Doug Furnas vs. Bobby Mason Ever since his debut in PCW and joining the Pride, Doug Furnas has turned a lot of heads with his athleticism and power. He has scored some incredible wins as well as giving Tony St. Clair a tough challenge for the TV title. The Oklahoma Bronco continued his dominant ways by stampeding over the rookie Bobby Mason. He devastated young Mason with crushing power moves before hitting the Volunteer Slam (running Canadian backbreaker into the corner followed by a slam to the mat). The competition had best keep an eye on Furnas, as he is making a name as someone to watch. Dan Severn & Jeff Jarrett vs. Gary Young & Jim Neidhart http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/01-42.jpg While his primary focus has been getting revenge on Akira Maeda, Dan Severn has not forgotten that it was Bob Backlund who took the Submission Title from him. He and his best friend were looking to get a few got shots in on Backlund's Knights Templar, and were facing a duo comprising Backlund's favorite pupil along with his latest recruit. Initially, Young and Neidhart were fierce competitors for the Odd Couple. But as the match wore on, Young seemed progressively more reluctant to tag in the Anvil. This would cost him when Jarrett took him down with a dropkick and, quick as a flash, trapped him in the Figure Four Leglock. Neidhart immediately charged in to break it up but found his way blocked by Dan Severn. He was able to knock Severn out of the way with a series of mighty forearm shots, but by the time he got to Young, his partner had tapped out. After the match, Young was shouting at Neidhart for not bailing him out, and while Neidhart protested that he did the best he could, Young was in no mood to listen. Eventually, Bob Backlund and grabbed both by the shoulder as he led them back to the locker room. Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring Bonnema : Ladies and gentlemen, my next guests are trying to regroup after two of their members left to form their own alliance … the Army! http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/pictures/s/steveblackman/05.jpg The fans warmly applaud as Leo Burke, US Steel, Steve Blackman and Shane Douglas head out to the ring, but the members of the Army all look incredibly downcast as they troop out to the ring. Bonnema : Leo Burke, I can imagine you are feeling rather disappointed right now , with Art Barr and Cactus Jack having defected to form the Wild Things. Burke : You hit the nail on the head, Frank Bonnema. We did the best we could with Art and Cactus, tried to give them guidance and support, teach them the right way. But they just kept pulling off on their own, kept straying from the path until we couldn't keep them in the fold. It breaks my heart. (US Steel gives him a consoling pat on the shoulder.) I just don't know what to – Burke is cut off as there is a commotion at the back of the arena. All heads turn to see Chavo, Mando and Hector Guerrero coming through the curtain and heading to the ring. Steel, Blackman and Douglas all form a line in front of Burke to protect their mentor. Douglas : Look, I know you guys blame us for some reason because Eddie joined the Wild Things, but we are not in the mood. You want to take it out on Leo, you have to go through us first. Hector : Hey, we come in peace. I know we did blame you, but we just didn't want to face the truth. We tried to protect Eddie, but we should have supported him more. He was always the wild one, and when he didn't see enough encouragement from us, he looked elsewhere. What's done is done. We want to declare a truce. There is no point in fighting with each other when the Wild Things are wreaking havoc all over PCW. We need to work together and try to bring them back under control. What do you say? Hector holds out his hand to Leo Burke. Burke stares at it, the shakes hands with each of the Guerreros in turn. The war between the Guerreros and the Army has finally come to an end, but are even their combined forces enough to tame the Wild Things? Akira Maeda vs. Joe Malenko After initially tearing through the opposition, Akira Maeda has been facing tougher and tougher competition. They have given him more resistance, but Maeda has still come out on top. Tonight he would be facing the older Malenko brother, and though Maeda was especially aggressive with Malenko, Joe seemed to have a counter to balance every move Maeda made. As Gary Hart watched on with interest, Malenko matched Maeda move for move until the Japanese Assassin was able to knock him down with a rolling wheel kick before locking him in a standing half crab in the middle of the ring. Seeing that there was no escape, Malenko tapped out to avoid getting injured. Maeda looked like he wanted to go after Malenko after the match, but Hart ordered his man to stand down, giving Malenko an appraising look before leading Maeda away from the ring. Pacific Television Title Match : Tony St. Clair © vs. Cactus Jack Tony St. Clair has faced a variety of challenges in his time as TV champ, but he has never seen anyone quite like the man from Truth Or Consequences. Even a practiced veteran like St. Clair seemed caught off guard when Cactus came flying at him, seemingly from all directions at once. No matter what big spill Cactus took, he kept bouncing back, grinning maniacally all the way. Even when Cactus wound up running straight into the spinning forearm smash, St. Clair decided to take no chances and followed up with the floating Butterfly Suplex for the win. I bet St. Clair is hoping he doesn't see Cactus Jack again for quite some time.
  25. Yeah, sorry, I am a bit short on sleep right now myself, I think my response came off a bit more defensive than I intended. I love the differences in style in our respective writing styles too, didn't take any offense to what was being said.
