Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, on Pacific Super Cards, March 21st Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Mando Guerrero A highly competitive match that Bigelow won with a slingshot splash Leo Burke vs. Larry Cameron Both men went to a 20 minute time limit draw. Bill Dundee was in Cameron's corner. Both men shook hands after the match. Badd Company vs. Kendo Nagasaki & The Great Kabuki A very intense battle that ended after Kabuki caught Tanaka with a thrust kick off the ropes No DQ Match : The Brigade vs. The Royal Family , Bob Orton & David Schultz A crazy bout where out of nowhere, Orton nailed Jonathan Boyd in the back of the head with a lariat. This set Boyd up for Dan Spivey to hit a Big Leg Drop and get the pinfall. Schultz seemed as surprised by his partner's actions as everyone else, but when Rip Morgan attacked him in revenge, he and Orton slugged it out with the Royal Family all the way back to the locker room Six Man Tag Match : The Playboy Club vs. The Vice Squad Doug Somers had Jimmy Del Ray set up for a brainbuster, but Del Ray countered with a small package that got the one two three. The Vice Squad were jubilant after the match while the Playboy Club were livid with the decision. Golden State Tag Title Match : Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi © vs. The Thundercats (Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley) Scorpio hit a top rope flying splash on the outside to Fuchi and made it back in the ring in time to get the win by countout. Hito and Fuchi still retained the titles. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Terry Gordy © vs. Billy Jack Haynes An incredibly hard hitting match, as you can imagine. Haynes had Gordy lined up for a mighty lariat, but Michael Hayes reached from the outside and tripped him coming off the ropes. Billy Jack staggered coming out and Gordy caught him in a massive piledriver to defend his title.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, March 20th Al Perez vs. Jonathan Boyd After an intense match last week between Tom Zenk and Rip Morgan, the Brigade have drawn the attention of the Royal Family. Both Morgan and Zenk were in the corners of their partners, as Perez displayed his deep scientific wrestling skills against Boyd, while the wily veteran used his deep reserves of cunning to get out of the traps that the Latin Heartthrob set. The two were evenly matched throughout, so it was a bit of a disappointment when Morgan attacked Perez with a lariat, leading to a loss by Boyd by DQ. Zenk joined Perez in battling the Royal Family, and their fellow Brigade members Mike Rotunda and Dan Spivey rushed out to back them up, only to be waylaid by Bob Orton and Dave Schultz. Chaos reigned until security interposed themselves, and it was announced that both sides would have a No DQ 8 man tag match at the Oakland show. Tracy Smothers vs. Lanny Poffo "Leaping" Lanny Poffo has made a big impact in PCW since his arrival as Ron Starr's partner in Flamboyance, including a pinfall in a tag match over Pacific Light Heavyweight champion Keiichi Yamada. In this match he would be facing Yamada's compadre Tracy Smothers and , while their partners were supporting them from their corners, the ref let it be known that he would not tolerate any shenanigans like the previous match. Both men went all out in a match that really got the fans on their feet with several near falls. Poffo was ultimately able to knock down Smothers long enough to hit the Skydrop and get the win. Poffo has leapt to the front of the queue to become the top contender for the Light Heavyweight belt. "Crusher" Jerry Blackwell & Nord The Barbarian vs. The Untouchables These two teams first faced each other in a 6 man match where Blackwell and Nord made their PCW debut last week (or return, in the case of Nord). Now it would be two on two in a match that frequently threatened to literally break the ring. Neither team held back in an incredibly intense bout. Steve Strong took some brutal shots and slams from Blackwell, but held his own including hitting an extremely impressive powerslam on the Mountain From Stone Mountain. The dueling Barbarians too turns blasting each other with mighty clotheslines and running kicks . It all wound up being too much for the ring to contain, as the action spilled to the outside and the match ended in a double countout. These two teams will certainly face off again, and hopefully by then they can reinforce the ring. Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring Bonnema : Ladies and gentlemen, my guests today currently hold the Pacific Tag Team Titles … "Playboy" Buddy Rose and the Playboy Club! The crowd erupts into boos as Buddy Rose, Doug Somers, Ed Wiskowski and the Vice Squad walk to the ring. They all look upset, but Rose looks especially annoyed, and Jimmy Del Ray looks positively livid. Rose : *grabbing the mic from Bonnema* You might want to watch your mouth with that "currently" business, Bonnema, if you want to keep your dentures in place. This is Playboy Club business and you are surplus to requirements. It has come to my attention that there has been some grumbling in the ranks. Some people are getting dissatisfied with their place in the grand scheme of things. So if anyone has any grievances that they want to air , now is your chance to speak up. *looking pointedly at Jimmy Del Ray* Del Ray : Oh, I've got grievances, alright . You came at us with a lot of fancy talk, made all sorts of big promises, stuck us with this babysitter *gesturing to Ed Wiskowski, who glowers in response* , had us do all of your dirty work for you, and what did the Vice Squad get in return? Nothing! Rose : Nothing ? I gave you exactly what I promised : provisional … Del Ray : … associate status with the Playboy Club, yeah, I know. What the hell is that supposed to mean? From what I can see, it means we take out your garbage while you sit on your throne with the tag titles. We did everything you told us to do, so give us our damned title shot! Rose : Hey, for one thing, we never promised you any title shot. Secondly, we gave you one job, keep the Thundercats away, and you screwed that up! Del Ray : Don't blame us for that, it was this gorilla who cost us that match. *gestures again to Wiskowski, who is clearly getting more angry* When they got the title match, we bailed you out and kept them from winning, and we got no thanks for it. So one last time : where is our title shot? Rose : Oh, I've got your title shot right here! Rose then hits Del Ray in the face with the title belt, knocking him down. This triggers a fight between the Playboy Club and the Vice Squad. Bill Dundee and the Thundercats rush out to get involved, only for all three factions to slug it out with each other until, once again, security comes out and clears them from the ring. Chris Adams & The White Angel vs. Terry Taylor & Jake Roberts Another alliance that seems to be on shaky ground is that between Terry Taylor and Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Ever since Taylor accidentally struck Roberts during a tag match, Roberts has been acting distant to his young ward, leaving him to do the bulk of the work in other tag matches. Given that Roberts has played a big part in the longevity of Taylor's Television Title reign, this has to make Taylor feel uneasy about his future prospects. Roberts continued his dismissive behaviour in this match, staying on the apron and telling Taylor he was doing fine every time he tried to tag out. Taylor took quite a beating at the hands of Adams and Angel but finally made it over to his corner, only for Roberts to jump off the apron, give a dismissive wave, and head back to the locker room. With no rescue in sight, Taylor turned around to get an Adams Superkick right in the face, knocking him out and leaving him to take the pinfall. Without his now former mentor to back him up , it could be that Taylor's days as Television champ are now numbered.

Terry Taylor missed his flight, so Zenk stepped up for a title match. (Actually, I wanted one more babyface win in that spot, so made Zenk do double duty.)

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum , Portland , on Pacific Super Cards, March 14th Tracy Smothers vs. Lanny Poffo A fast paced and exciting match that Poffo won with the Skydrop Eddie Gilbert vs. The Great Kabuki A crazy brawl that went to a double DQ Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Buddy Jack Roberts Bigelow won with a Nuclear Splash The Brigade vs. The Crazy Gang Bob Orton pinned Dan Spivey after a lariat Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Buddy Rose & Doug Somers © vs. Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley Interference from the Vice Squad set up Scorpio to be pinned by Rose after the Inside Out Backbreaker. After the match, both the Playboy Club and the Vice Squad beat down the Thundercats. Larry Cameron ran in to help his partners but was outnumbered until somebody else ran into the ring, swinging a chair and scattering the Playboy Club and the Vice Squad. It was Bill Dundee, making his first appearance on the Pacific Coast. Dundee then sat himself down on the chair in the middle of the ring and dared them to come in, but they fled back to the locker room. Looks like the Superstar is taking the side of the Thundercats. California Title Match : Tom Zenk © vs. Rip Morgan Zenk, wrestling for the second time tonight, was able to defend his belt by hitting the Missile Dropkick on Morgan Don Muraco & The Untouchables vs. Ricky Steamboat & ?? & ?? The Sheikh's forces came out laughing and unimpressed by Steamboat's arrival on his own. Steamboat swiftly turned the tables by getting on the mic and introducing his partners … Crusher Blackwell and Nord The Barbarian! The result was a wild and hard hitting match that ended when Steamboat caught Muraco in a top rope flying crossbody press. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Terry Gordy © vs. Texas Red The night closed off with an epic match that went to a 30 minute time limit draw

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , March 13th Flamboyance vs. Shannon Elkins & Jimmy Johnson With the intense competition in the tag ranks and the always shifting landscape of Pacific Coast Wrestling, the fans were very curious to see just who was this new tag team called Flamboyance. The first person out was Ron Starr, on his own since his "Cousin" Chicky was sent packing from PCW last week. He got on the mic and introduced his new partner in Flamboyance … "Leaping" Lanny Poffo. The fans weren't sure what to make of Poffo as he strode to the ring in a blue sequined jacket, twirling his waxed moustache. Their confusion wasn't helped by his rather eccentric ring style, with plenty of showboating and somersaults. But they certainly couldn't deny his considerable talent. "Leaping" Lanny, a member of the legendary Poffo family, easily dominated both Elkins, working with Starr like they had been teaming their whole life before dispatching Elkins with the Skydrop (short range Moonsault). It looks like Ron Starr is going to pick up right back where he left off. Brutus Beefcake vs. The Great Kabuki Beefcake has gotten some impressive victories over Kendo Nagasaki, but in this match he would square off with Gary Hart's most vicious enforcer, The Great Kabuki. Missy Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert were both in Beefcake's corner, cheering him on, and Brutus put up a brave fight against the Japanese veteran. Kabuki certainly put him through the wringer, with painful nerve holds hampering his ability to apply the sleeper hold, but Brutus kept battling his way out. He was able to whip Kabuki into the ropes to attempt the Final Cut, but Kabuki caught himself on the ropes, then fired back with a thrust kick to the jaw that got three count. After the match, Gilbert and Hyatt helped Brutus to his feet and provided consolation and encouragement as he made his disappointed way back to the locker room. He may have lost the match, but he is determined to bounce back. Buddy Jack Roberts vs. Texas Red With both Billy Jack Haynes and Texas Red gunning for Terry Gordy's Pacific Heavyweight Title, Buddy Jack Roberts finds himself on the Freebirds front lines trying to block them. He was certainly more than a little reticent about this match, doing everything he could to put off locking up with the huge Texan. To his credit, the wily veteran was able to stick and move, doing some notable damage to Texas Red. But eventually, Red decided enough is enough and started levelling Roberts with powerful blows, finally finishing him off with a huge chokeslam. The Freebirds will have to do better than this if they want to get Texas Red off their trail. Number One Contenders Match for the Pacific Tag Team Title : The Thundercats vs. The Vice Squad The war between the Thundercats and the Vice Squad could be described as a game of two halves. The Thundercats came out strong and got several big wins over the Vice Squad early on. But with the Playboy Club taking an interest in them and the mentorship of Ed Wiskowski, along with the emergence of Jimmy Del Ray as a leader in his own right, the Vice Squad have had the momentum of late. For a while, the Thundercats had Mad Dog Vachon backing them up to help even up the sides. But with Vachon being taken out of action, the fan favorite team have been at a distinct disadvantage. Even with Larry Cameron in their corner for this match, Norman Smiley and Too Cold Scorpio were still down in the numbers, with Wiskowski and Jack Victory backing up Jimmy Del Ray and Brian Knobs. The Thundercats were clearly distracted by the potential of outside interference, while the Vice Squad were all confidence as they regularly got the upper hand . The popular Cats managed several rallies throughout the match, but Del Ray was regularly able to shut it down with a well placed cheap shot or by distracting the referee. He got Scorpio set to whip him into the ropes, but Scorpio was able to reverse it at the last moment. Wiskowski clearly wasn't paying close enough attention, as he reached in and tripped Del Ray, thinking it was Scorpio. Del Ray staggered out of the ropes and was caught by Scorpio in a big belly to belly suplex that managed to get the surprise pinfall. The Thundercats were triumphant while the Vice Squad argued vehemently with Wiskowski back to the locker room. Don Muraco vs. Ricky Steamboat Another man down in the numbers is Ricky Steamboat . His allies, the French Revolution, were sent out on stretchers by the Untouchables, and he is now forced to stand alone against the Sheikh's men. Steve Strong and Konga The Barbarian prowled ringside like angry dogs, and any time Steamboat got near the ropes, one of them would try to sneak a shot in. He did his best to keep focused on Muraco, but when the Magnificent One clotheslined him out of the ring, his allies swept in for the kill. Steamboat swiftly grabbed a folded steel chair and batted them away, then returned to the ring and hit Muraco with the chair, resulting in a DQ win for Muraco. Any one of the Sheikh's men who tried to enter the ring got a taste of the chair, until Steamboat got a house mic and challenged them to a six man match against him and 2 partners of his choosing. The Sheikh accepted, and that match will take place at the Portland Memorial Coliseum.

Beefcake and Burke shook hands after the match. Too Cold Scorpio vs. Buddy Rose The rookie Scorpio gave the Pacific Tag champ a hell of a fight, but ultimately the Playboy was able to execute the Inside Out Backbreaker to pull out the victory Al Perez vs. Buddy Jack Roberts This match very nearly went to the 20 minute time limit but Perez was able to hit the German Suplex at the last second and pin Roberts Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi © vs. Badd Company Another epic title match that ended when Fuchi was able to counter an attempted axe kick by Tanaka with a legsweep and then forced him to surrender to the STF California Title Match : Tom Zenk © vs. Jimmy Del Ray Both men went all out in this match with Zenk prevailing in the end when he caught Del Ray coming off the ropes with a thrust kick to the jaw Hawaiian Strap Match : Don Muraco vs. Ricky Steamboat An intense battle where Steamboat was able to leapfrog over Muraco to touch the 4th turnbuckle and win the match

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN , February 28th Bob Orton vs. Russell Swann Bob Orton made his first appearance in a long time last week (his first since losing a Loser Leaves Town Match, in fact), and has clearly thrown his lot in with the Crazy Gang. Dave Schultz was at ringside for this match, but the Cowboy had no need to call on his help as he pretty much tore Russell Swann to pieces. Every lariat, slam and backbreaker seemed to have an additional edge of viciousness to it, and by the time he hit the Superplex, it was pretty much academic and he was putting Swann out of his misery. Dave Schultz on his own is dangerous enough, but Doctor D and the Ace is a pairing that has to have the Pacific Coast locker room scared. Pacific Coast Light Heavyweight Title Match : Keiichi Yamada © vs. Chicky Starr Since becoming the inaugural Pacific Coast Light Heavyweight champion, Keiichi Yamada has taken on all challengers, but the Starr "Cousins" have been persistent thorns in his side. Despite Chicky bringing his usual cheating and melodrama to the match, Yamada handled it with a cool confidence, shutting down every Chicky Starr rally as soon as they happened. Yamada was able to catch Starr in a running cross body and got a quick three count, but Chicky took umbrage at the speed of the count. As much as Chicky argues, the ref stood firm, so Starr then went after Yamada again . This led to their respective partners, Tracy Smothers and Ron Starr, to get involved, and when Chicky got on the mic and challenged them to a Loser Of The Fall Leaves Town match at the Sports Arena, Yamada and Smothers quickly agreed. Chris Adams vs. Jake Roberts Chris Adams has had his sights set on Terry Taylor's Television Title, but has had to deal with Jake Roberts' protection of the Champion at every turn. The help of the White Angel has kept Adams in the hunt , but thus far he has not been able to win the title. This match would not necessarily get him a title match, but Adams clearly was looking to work out some frustration on the Snake. Adams was so relentless in going after him that Roberts seemed caught off guard, but he fought back with his traditional nastiness. A ref bump seemed to open up an opportunity for Roberts, and his acolyte Terry Taylor rushed out to the ring to hit Adams with the Fivearm, but Adams ducked at the last second and Taylor hit Roberts instead. Adams tossed Taylor out of the ring and hit the Superkick on Roberts. By now, the ref had recovered and made the three count. Taylor was all apologies as they made their way back to the locker room, but while Roberts said nothing the whole time, he was quite clearly livid. The French Revolution vs. The Untouchable Speaking of people looking to work out some frustration, the members of the Untouchables are coming off some solo losses to Ricky Steamboat and were looking to reestablish their initial aura of dominance. The French Revolution are close allies of Steamboat and that made them ripe targets for the wrath of Sheikh Kaissie's men. Barbarian swiftly sent Bravo hard to the concrete with a brutal front kick while Bravo was on the ring apron. He and Steve Strong then proceeded to maul poor Phil LaFleur, tossing him about the ring like a ragdoll. Eventually, Strong hoisted LaFleur up in a bearhug and the Barbarian came off the top rope with a flying clothesline, which put an end to the match but not the carnage. Strong then picked up LaFleur in another crushing bearhug while Barbarian lariated Bravo on the outside, then followed up with a top rope flying headbut to the concrete. Both of the Revolution had to be taken out on stretchers. Leo Burke & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. The Royal Family Perhaps the king of frustration right now is young Bam Bam Bigelow. Leo Burke's student made a huge splash (no pun intended) in his first matches, catching the imagination of the fans with his combination of charisma, strength and agility. But lately, a series of losses at the hands of the Royal Family have halted his momentum and led to some whispers that perhaps he was just a flash in the pan. Clearly this has led to some anxiety for Bigelow, as he would frequently allow himself to get tricked or caught off guard by Boyd and Morgan. Burke would keep pulling Bigelow in and calming him down, which seemed to help the New Jersey fireball to regain some focus and confidence. Bigelow managed to take Rip Morgan down with a lariat, then set him up for a slingshot splash. Once again, Boyd went for a lariat on the outside to sweep his legs out from under him, but this time, Bigelow jumped at the last second to avoid the subterfuge, and followed it by diving off the ring apron and crashing into Boyd. He then picked up Boyd in a mighty military press and tossed him into a row of chairs that had previously been occupied by now fleeing fans. By this time, Morgan had recovered in the ring, but Leo Burke tackled him and drove him into the mat with a piledriver. Burke then pointed to the corner turnbuckle, from which Bam Bam came off the top with a Nuclear Splash that shook the ring. One two three and it was all over. The Beast From The East is quite clearly back and on track.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, on Pacific Super Cards, February 22nd Jonathan Boyd vs. Bam Bam Bigelow Boyd lured Bigelow into chasing him around the ring, setting him up to be ambushed by Rip Morgan, who drove Bam Bam head first into the ringsteps. Pacific Coast Wrestling
Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, February 21st Tracy Smothers vs. The Great Kabuki Kabuki certainly made a big impact in his first appearance in PCW. Young Tracy Smothers was looking a bit apprehensive as he faced the Japanese legend but equally determined not to be intimidated by him. The Wild Eyed Southern Boy put up a tough fight for Kabuki but in the end it was not enough as the face painted one caught him in a thrust kick and followed up with a piledriver to get the three count. A tough loss for Smothers but he can hold his head up that he got his fair share of shots on Kabuki. Ricky Steamboat vs. Steve Strong Ricky Steamboat is still on the path of revenge against the Magnificent One, Don Muraco, and to that end has been facing off with Sheikh Kaissie's other men. In this case, that meant Steve Strong, an incredibly powerful rookie who is one half of the Untouchables. Strong came in with an impressive physique and a reputation for ruthlessness in the ring. Steamboat, who is incredible condition himself, let himself be drawn into some tests of strength, but swiftly maneuvered out of Strong's way when it looked like he would be overpowered. After that, Steamboat ducked and dodged to keep out of the line of fire for Strong's power offense, especially his crushing bearhug. To his credit, Strong kept pace with Steamboat and nearly had him in his clutches a number of times, only for the Dragon to escape his trap at the last second. Steamboat eventually wore him down that he was able to hit the top rope flying cross body press for the one two three. An important victory, but a hard fought one for the Dragon. Chavo & Hector Guerrero vs. Ragin' & Ravishing Ever since getting hurt in a match against Terry Gordy, Hector Guerrero has gotten progressively more banged up in successive matches, notably a match last week against the Playboy Club where they capitalized on his sore neck. The young tag team of Ragin' and Ravishing have been looking to break away from the pack in Pacific Coast and clearly saw this as their opportunity to do so at the expense of Hector. They viciously attacked his neck every chance they got, looking intent on doing permanent damage to the former Golden State Tag champ. When Rude hit his Rude Awakening neckbreaker, it looked like it was all over, but Rude refused to go for the pin as he and Fernandez continued to inflict more punishment. When the looked to set him up for a spike piledriver, it was clear their intent was to put Hector out of action permanently, and Chavo dove into the ring to pull him out of trouble, signaling that they were giving up the match. Hector had to be taken out on a stretcher with his neck immobilized, and while Rude and Fernandez gloated in the ring, Chavo was staring daggers at them, clearly imagining the vengeance he would put them through when he had his chance. Brutus Beefcake vs. Mr. Hito Beefcake has truly come into his own under the mentorship of Missy Hyatt, and has been deeply involved in her war with Gary Hart and his crew. Beefcake has also formed a bit of an interesting partnership with Eddie Gilbert, with the second generation providing guidance and support to help Brutus develop his confidence in the ring. Both Hyatt and Gilbert were at ringside for something of a trial by fire for Brutus, who would be taking on Mr. Hito, a man of both considerable skill and viciousness. Hito certainly put Beefcake through the ringer , with some brutal chops and nasty submission holds from which Brutus was just barely able to escape. But he eventually found his rhythm and started to get the better of Hito with his big power moves. He was ultimately able to turn the tide and hit the Final Cut, his big running jumping kneelift, and get the victory in this match. The crowd showered Brutus with cheers and he seemed to greatly appreciate their support. Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley vs. Jimmy Del Ray & Brian Knobs Speaking of people coming into their own, Jimmy Del Ray impressed a lot of people with his recent challenges for Keiichi Yamada's Light Heavyweight crown. Despite his unconventional looks and questionable ethics, Del Ray showed developing confidence and ring savvy that caught the eye of discerning observers, and that carried over into this match with the popular Thundercats. Del Ray is starting to turn into the in ring general of the Vice Squad, and provided leadership to Knobbs throughout the match. The result was an intensely competitive bout that ended with a blind tag leading to a rollup out of the corner by Del Ray on Scorpio to give the win to the Vice Squad. Buddy Rose may see the Vice Squad as pawns to keep the Thundercats away from the Playboy Club, but under the leadership of Del Ray, they are becoming a force to be reckoned with in their own right. Mike Rotunda vs. Dave Schultz Ever since losing a brutal Falls Count Anywhere match to Texas Red at the Aloha Spectacular, Doctor D has gotten progressively more out of control, with a string of DQ losses resulting from his increased disregard for the rules. Mike Rotunda, the popular leader of the Brigade, was very determined to get a clean win out of this match, drawing on his considerable technical abilities to stymie Schultz's attempts to drag the match into the gutter. He seemed to have things well in hand, with Schultz wrapped up in an abdominal stretch when someone charged the ring and attacked him, leading to another DQ result. It was Cowboy Bob Orton! Orton had not been seen in Pacific Coast in some months, due to losing a Loser Leaves Town match, but he is clearly back with a vengeance, and he and Schultz put the boots to Rotunda until Dan Spivey rushed out and ran them off. Schultz alone is bad enough, but paired with the Ace he is now, if anything, even more dangerous. Billy Jack Haynes vs. Michael Hayes The Freebirds have now had a couple of shots across their bow by the pairing of Billy Jack Haynes and Texas Red, with a pinfall last week by Texas over Terry Gordy strengthening their claims on shots at Gordy's Pacific Heavyweight title. Gordy was not booked for this match, but his Freebird brother Michael PS Hayes was just as determined to stifle the challenge from the Portland Powerhouse. He certainly had his hands full, as the mighty Billy Jack clearly had no time for Haye's trickery and bounced him all over the ring with his high impact throws and slams. Hayes did his best to contain him, throwing every cheap shot at him that he could fit in, but it was like trying to steer a freight train, and Billy Jack kept coming at him. Billy Jack finally locked Hayes in the Full Nelson, which turned out to be the cue for Terry Gordy and Buddy Jack Roberts to rush out, but the Freebirds were in for a surprise. Texas Red had been hiding in the ring curtains and blindsided Buddy Jack, sending him hard to the ground. Red and Gordy then slugged it out in the aisle as Hayes struggled in the ring. Realizing that no rescue was forthcoming, Hayes had no choice but to give up, giving the victory to Billy Jack. The Freebirds had been starting to think they were kings of the hill in Pacific Coast , but they are starting to realize that Billy Jack and Texas Red are not about to be pushed around.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , February 14th Al Perez vs. Ron Starr While they still team up and watch each other's backs, the four young men of the Brigade have been working to establish their own identities of late. Al Perez is coming off challenging for the Pacific Tag Team Titles with Dan Spivey, but showed in this match that he is also very much an individual threat. He showed considerable technical expertise as he dominated Ron Starr on the mat and worked him into several submission holds from which Ron was just barely able to escape. Starr, for his part, kept pace with Perez during the match but eventually started to slip in a few cheap shots to take the advantage. Perez would not be drawn in and kept tying Starr up in knots, eventually taking him down with an armbreaker and cinching in the Japanese armbar (Wakigatame) in the middle of the ring to get the win. Whether solo or in a team, the Latin Heartthrob is certainly not to be taken lightly. Mad Dog Vachon & Larry Cameron vs. Ed Wiskowski & Jack Victory The tension between the Thundercats and the Vice Squad certainly got much more volatile when the Playboy Club took the Vice Squad into their fold, with the ignition spark being provided by the Mad Dog siding with the Thundercats. Things always seemed to be on the verge of complete breakdown during this match. Both sides laid out a lot of punishment on each other, with big power moves and jarring punches. Cameron and Vachon were laying big lefts and rights on Wiskowski in the corner when the ref ordered Cameron out of the ring. Victory took advantage of the distraction by hitting a nasty low blow on Vachon, followed by the Victory-Plex. The ref turned around to see the cover and made to count, giving the win to Wiskowski and Victory. The Vice Squad look to be eager pupils to the Polish Prince's school of dirty tricks, but you can bet the Thundercats will be coming back for revenge. Paul Diamond vs. Masanobu Fuchi Speaking of feuds , the one between Hyatt International and Gary Hart's stable kept rolling on with this match. While Diamond and Fuchi kept things just barely within the rules, there was an additional edge to ever chop and kick they laid into each other. Paul Diamond went at Fuchi full bore with drop kicks and fast paced moves, while Fuchi kept an icy calm throughout. Diamond had Fuchi lined up for a Flying Back Body press, but Fuchi dodged it, then swept in to apply the STF. Diamond struggled but could not escape and was forced to give up. When Fuchi refused to release the hold after the match, Pat Tanaka rushed out to rescue his partner, followed soon by Mr. Hito. Security swiftly interposed themselves between the two teams, but that didn't stop Missy Hyatt from verbally lacing into Gary Hart as she and Tanaka helped Diamond from the ring. Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Keiichi Yamada © vs. Jimmy Del Ray Keiichi Yamada has certainly ducked no challengers since winning the Light Heavyweight title. This time out, he would defend against one of the members of the Vice Squad, Jimmy Del Ray. In spite of his unconventional look and dubious morality, Del Ray proved a tough contender for the belt, and showed impressive moves and toughness against the Japanese star. He was coming off the ropes for a clothesline when Yamada ducked and came back with a palm thrust under the chin to score the win. He may not have won the match, but Del Ray definitely proved his credentials as a contender. Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Buddy Rose & Doug Somers © vs. Chavo & Hector Guerrero The Guerreros are coming off several challenges for Terry Gordy's Pacific Heavyweight Title. While each of the brothers came close, but were unable to wrest the title from Gordy's grasp, and Hector ended up getting hurt very badly in a title match several weeks ago. The Playboy Club clearly sensed his vulnerability, and kept him in their end of the ring for most of the match, working him over while taunting his brother Chavo. It looked like Hector had managed to tag out, but the ref had failed to see it, and forced Chavo back into the corner while the Playboy Club beat on Hector some more before Somers hit a brainbuster that put him down for good. Hector's valor in not wanting to miss a match is admirable but he is going to have to start taking care of himself. Terry Gordy & Michael Hayes vs. Billy Jack Haynes & Texas Red Last week, Haynes and Texas had gotten a big win over two of the Freebirds and were angling for a shot at the Pacific Heavyweight Title. For this match, the champion himself was getting involved, determined to nip this challenge right in the bud. If Haynes and Texas were in anyway intimidated by Gordy, it certainly didn't show, and they went toe to toe with the Freebirds from the opening bell. Gordy and Hayes threw everything they had at the upstarts, to no avail, and eventually resorted to double teams and trickery, but even that didn't hold them back for long. They were in the middle of double teaming Haynes when he was able to reach out and tag in Texas Red. The Freebirds didn't catch it but the ref certainly did, and Gordy finally noticed when he turned around and was levelled with a mighty flying clothesline. Hayes tried to break it up, but found himself trapped in a Full Nelson by Billy Jack. The ref made the three count and the crowd erupted. Texas Red had just pinned the champion! Texas and Billy Jack both celebrated while the Freebirds cried foul, but there could be no denying their challenge now.
