[1993-07-31-SMW-TV] Interview: Bob Armstrong
Glad the Cornette response is posted as it is awesome. Bob has that air of believability to him that works so well. This is a man that is proud of what he has built for himself but he has enough dignity to not want to let the fans down at all costs including offering refunds if he is unsuccessful.

[1993-07-31-JWP-Thunderqueen] Aja Kong & Sakie Hasegawa & Kyoko Inoue & Takako Inoue vs Hikari Fukuoka & Cutie Suzuki & Mayumi Ozaki & Dynamite Kansai (60-Minute Marathon Match)
A lot of stuff going on for sure. I thought the opening matwork was the worst portion with the fluke pin. In watching, I didn't get the sense that Cutie was as much the clear weak link of her team compared to Kyoko getting beat at most junctures when she was paired up with Ozaki. Kong vs. Kansai were both the monsters on their team they needed to be and this certainly had a high pace of action that made the 60 minutes slide right by with memorable moments like the bum rush save and the spinning back fist from Aja. The triumphant final pin felt fitting to me and appropriate given the layout of the match. A really great match and a low end MOTYC for me but not one of the best matches I have ever seen. ****1/2

[1993-07-29-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada
Interesting to watch after the previous match but still really great. The opening arm work was good for me and built how over Misawa's elbow is. I wouldn't say he extensively sold the elbow down the stretch but that to me was the point. Kawada was defiant and really took it to Misawa but he didn't have that one knockout blow he could execute and Misawa was able to weather the storm and go on the offensive for most of the last 5-10 minutes of the match. Kawada looks courageous kicking out of some of Misawa's arsenal but Misawa is the man still here. ****1/4

[1993-07-29-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Stan Hansen vs Kenta Kobashi
Incredible match. Hansen is superb here but I was expecting him to really carry things based on the latest All Japan Excite Series and I didn't get that sense here. Kobashi takes the fight to Hansen here and really goes full force into the boot which was amazing. He takes a beating but keeps coming back. After the strikes failed, he tries to do everything from pinning combinations to win. Hansens final knockout blow is defiant but shows that Kobashi was right there fighting to the bitter end which wins him over huge with the crowd. A tremendous match and a star making performance. *****

[1993-07-27-ECW-TV] Eddie Gilbert: King of Philadelphia
This have really taken a turn for me. When it was two minutes of Eddie parading around and dancing with girls, that was one thing. Now it is him and Paul E setting up shop somewhere and they do the worst improv (I assume) imaginable with the onlookers they attract. These need to be heading somewhere fast and I am not optimistic they are.

[1993-07-26-WWF-Raw] Interview: Lex Luger
Who is Lex Luger was kind of a smart way in my eyes of presenting Lex as a face without it seeming too rushed. This empty arena promo worked for me and Lex spoke well.

[1993-07-18-AAA-Sin Limite] Blue Panther vs Love Machine
Agree that Art is bad from what I have seen. The finish here was fun with the double turn and Perro attack bu the action up to it didn't do much for me at all. Panther seems kind of lost in the shuffle overall.

[1993-07-24-Michinoku Pro] Great Sasuke vs Super Delphin
The fireworks were so bizarre. Anyway, this really worked for me. There was some silliness and indy stand off but it never felt arbitrary because the core was built around wrestling and the heel performance of Delphin. Delphin was great here working over Sasuke but also feeding into his comebacks and putting an emphasis on his high flying comebacks. The first great M-PRo match for my money. ****

[1993-07-21-PWFG] Yuki Ishikawa vs Bart Vale
Bart has a great look like one of those mountain men that runs a Karate gym in a southern town. This match seeing spunky Ishikawa was a mind bender for me considering how much of a bruiser he is even 4 years later. They have a really good match here and Vale is able to get in more strikes and range as the match advances. I liked the finish of one cardinal mistake from Ishikawa allowing Vale to choke him out. ***1/2

[1993-07-19-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels vs Marty Jannetty
Good match but not the MOTY for me and I think on some days I may like steiners vs. Money Inc better. This is worked with a good pace but the fakeout ending did nothing for me where it has worked in instances like Bigelow vs. Bret. HBK wins this one to kind of definitively put an end to their feud. The wipeout Marty has when he dives to the floor on the finish is really well done. ***1/4

[1993-07-19-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Mitsuharu Misawa & Jun Akiyama vs Toshiaki Kawada & Masa Fuchi
Fuchi fits in here well as a cranky bastard taking that young punk Akiyama to task with some down home gritty wrestling. The kawada vs. Misawa sections here are insanely heated and really get over their hatred of each other setting up the TC match coming up. Akiyama pinning FUchi felt like his biggest win to date and one of those rewarding moments to the viewer watching his rise up the ranks. ****

[1993-07-18-WCW-Beach Blast] Vader & Sid Vicious vs Sting & Davey Boy Smith
Good action here and the moonsault was crazy followed by the Sting save. I look forward to watching this one again when we get to it on WTBBP.

[1993-07-18-WCW-Beach Blast] Hollywood Blonds vs Arn Anderson & Paul Roma
Feel like I am in between everyone. I did enjoy this more than Steiners/Money Inc. but they are close and this got really long in the double FIP section. The Blondes do have a good bit of offense that feels unique and has them working together as a team and the finish was a nice heel escape win done well. Roma continues to try but just be a dead man walking. Very good match but certainly one that can require some patience. ***1/2
