[1993-07-18-UWFi] Kazuo Yamazaki vs Yoji Anjo
Fun action all around here. Between the 96 Tenryu match and this one, Anjo is having a good week or so in my eyes. The style seemed accessible here and while nothing was groundbreaking, it was all very enjoyable and technically proficient. ***1/2

[1993-07-17-WWF-Superstars] Rick & Scott Steiner vs Money Inc.
This did have a WCWSN quality to it. The work wasn't great or anything but this is probably Ted's last trademark performance of his career. IRS didn't totally annoy me here. I do think this has a strong storyline surrounding neat action. A fun gem in WWF land that probably should be seen by more people. ***

[1993-07-14-NJPW-Summer Struggle] Genichiro Tenryu & Ashura Hara vs Masa Chono & Tatsumi Fujinami
Another great match in this feud. Tenryu as a grumpy bastard. Chono gives an inspired performance and takes the fight to him. Fujinami looks better here than at most points of the 1990's. This feud continues to impress and every entry in it with Tenryu and Co. vs. all of the big guns of New Japan has delivered. ****1/4

[1993-07-12-WWF-Raw] Yokozuna vs Crush
Didn't like the match too much but the post match beatdown with Yoko and Vince telling Savage he wasn't supposed to get involved was really well done. Effective way to build up Yoko and the strongest he has looked since he became champion. *1/2

Graham Cawthon's History of Wrestling Podcast - Ongoing Thread
http://placetobenation.com/history-of-wrestling-podcast-episode-8-remembering-the-dream/ There are legends and then there is Dusty Rhodes. The History of Wrestling boys are back as Graham Cawthon, Brad Stutts, and Dan McGinn talk about the influence and legacy of the late ‘American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes. The guys scrap their planned show and instead share their personal memories of Dusty and his charisma, detail his years as a performer and booker, and discuss his greatest triumphs and failures. The talk focuses on Jim Crockett Promotions (from the creation of Starrcade, the Great American Bash and Wargames to Dusty’s impact on the careers of Ric Flair, the Four Horsemen, Big Bubba, Magnum TA, and Nikita Koloff) his run in the WWF against the Big Bossman, Macho King Randy Savage and Ted Dibiase, and his later roles in WCW, TNA, and NXT. There’s also talk about Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan, Bill Watts, Paul Heyman, Jim Cornette, Carolina independent shows, Terry Funk, the Midnight Express, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, Dustin Rhodes, Cody Rhodes, the Shield, Barry Windham, the UWF, the Dusty Finish, and much more. [1993-07-10-NWA-Grand Slam II] Eddie Gilbert vs Road Warrior Hawk
Weird match as Gilbert attacks a Hawk doll and then they do a very generic crowd brawling type match. Hawk never works with me in singles matches and Gilbert does a faux - Flair impersonation here which worked even less for me. *3/4

Well, this is just awful and we need to be moving on to something else. Just a drawn out mess by this point.

[1993-07-10-USWA-TV] Interview: Johnny Polo & Disco Inferno
Disco's dance skills are ridiculous here. This was odd to see in Memphis in 1993 as both developed a lot from here until 1996 with Flamingo in a really different gimmick and Disco in a refined role.

[1993-07-10-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Brian Christopher
Not much here for me to get into as the Lawler stuff vs. WWF talent is more interesting than his stuff with Prentice and his charges. They do a decent style studio match but going through the 1990's it is clear that something never clicked for Christopher the way it did even for people like Jarrett and Jaime Dundee.

[1993-07-09-CMLL] Felino vs Ciclon Ramirez
Awesome match with tons of build up to a hot finish ending in the dives. This had wrestling, high flying and brawling aspects. Pretty much this felt like a slightly lighter version of the Dandy/Satanico jack of all trades match from October 1990 that I greatly enjoyed. Felino is able to obtain the mask of Ciclon in very dramatic fashion. ****1/4

[1993-07-09-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Toshiaki Kawada vs Jun Akiyama
Pretty awesome match with Kawada giving just enough to Akiyama in a Jumbo/Kobashi type way. Kawada is a prick here and Akiyama shows some fire and is able to capitalize on some openings throughout the match. I am starting to wonder if 93 All Japan will have a disappointing match the whole year in my eyes as everything has held up wonderfully for me so far. ****

[1993-07-05-WWF-Raw] Men on a Mission rap
Men on a Mission had horrible getup ala PN NEws and not much better rap skills. Mo looks like he is 60 years old in these vignettes.

[1993-07-05-WWF-Raw] Yokozuna bodyslam challenge
What a dick Tatanka was reeling Yoko while he just stood there. THis was really well done and Luger gets a huge pop when he pulls off the feat. Him shoving Bobby was always a nice touch with attention to detail. This could have been a career making angle for him but it starts a lot of memories that people hate hence its looked back with a hokey nature now.

[1993-07-03-WCW-Saturday Night] Lost in Cleveland
Talk about a fish out of water, we have Dustin on the streets of Cleveland. This is starting to be drawn out way too long and even though the early stuff wasn't AS Bad as the hype had led you to believe IMO, the back half of this angle is awful with Vader not acknowledging anything and Jack looking like a goof.

[1993-07-03-SMW-TV] Interview: Tammy Fytch and Brian Lee
Lee has been pretty damn awesome since turning heel and feels like a bit of a lost worker of the 90's as he shows potential. Fytch continues to fit into her role and we get a shot of her in a bikini to show how she controls her charges at the end of this vignette.

[1993-07-03-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Owen Hart
Match looked really good and while 8 piledrivers seems excessive, they really are pushing over the extreme nature of this feud. I still am unsure about Prentice that while he does have an annoying look and promo skills, it really tilts back and forth between that and go away heat in my eyes. Both Owen and Lawler gave spirited promos around all of this action.

[1993-07-02-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi & Jun Akiyama vs Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue & Yoshinari Ogawa
Agree that while this match is awesome, it doesn't definitively step out from the crowd like other six mans like 4/20/91 do. Kobashi was great here in brutalizing Ogawa when he got the chance and the Kawada/Kobashi exchanges continued to be heated. I also think this is a six man where Misawa turns in a great performance and is at the forefront. The sequence early on where they keep attacking and eventually dive onto Kawada to take over on him is absolutely great and memorable. 1993 All Japan continues to shine. ****1/2
