WrestleMania vs. Starrcade Will is joined by Pete & Parv (Titans of Wrestling) and Kris Zellner (Exile on Badstreet) to compare the two flagship shows of the NWA and WWF. [1999-06-08-NJPW-Best of the Super Juniors] Genichiro Tenryu vs Shinya Hashimoto
This is one feud I don't really think off immediately as feud of the 90's but it may have a claim. The matches in 94, 98, and now 99 are great. I still have the 93 singles matches to watch but the build and tags up to that point have been nothing short of awesome. Here was an interesting worked match really worked around the strikes of each man but it was incredibly stiff and compelling. It feels like a stripped down war which is a natural progression from where the feud has been going. I havent really heard much of anything about Tenryu's 1999 before and maybe its just chalked up as another great year for him but he has had some incredible stuff and is one of the highlights so far. Hashimoto hits a nasty brainbuster after almost exclusive striking up to that point. Tenryu stops him dead in his tracks with a straight right. Hash responds with some great hooks of his own that seems uncharacteristic. Tenryu makes a run and hits a running chop ti win the match. The finish was a little anitclimatic but I was surprised at the result and loved the build to it. ****

[1999-06-08-NJPW-Best of the Super Juniors] Kendo Ka Shin vs Koji Kanemoto
I was wondering how the whole match had been as Kanemoto has been great and Ka Shin has been a whole lot better than I figured even though he shouldn't really be in this position. Pretty short final overall only going 13 minutes in full. The clips we get here is fun with Ka Shin going after the arm and finally winning what I would consider an upset with a big cross arm breaker.

[1999-06-07-WWF-Raw] Test and Stephanie McMahon
Vince's horror at Steph dating a blonde haired wrestler is pretty funny in retrospect. Lots of stuff got kickstarted with this Raw.

[1999-06-07-WWF-Raw] "It's me, Austin! It was me all along!"
Vince's evil face and JR's response is great but this was a pretty awful choice given the build up and feels like an opportunity for WCW if they weren't doing something worse. Really this is in a lot of ways the first major mis step since the WWF upswing IMO. The immediate angle afterward did as good as they could to salvage the reveal but it still feels like a missed opportunity.

[1999-06-07-WCW-Nitro] Kevin Nash, Randy Savage and The Hummer
The White Hummer has arrived. This was bad and what was Nash's objectives. Did he think he was really going to have a foursome with the ladies? This is so bad all around.

[1999-06-07-WCW-Nitro] Roddy Piper and Buff Bagwell
What the fuck was this mess. On any other show, this would be the worst thing happening. Here, it is just a confusing segment. Piper buries Bagwell and WCW by not ever wrestling in the mecca of pro wrestling despite being in the biz for 8 years. I don't really know what giving the ball to him implies at GAB. Also, they are running Piper vs. Flair again???? WHY?

[1999-06-07-WCW-Nitro] Randy Savage and Kevin Nash
So yeah, this angle has been awful and this is the crown jewel (or shit) of the whole ordeal. Savage gets one upped again and Bischoff's overbearing laugh may be my least favorite WCW moment yet. Did he even buy half of this shit? Anyway, the highlight was seeing David Crockett sell the sewage in the aftermath. This is honestly one of the worst things I have ever seen in wrestling to build a main event program.

I didn't recognize this interviewer either. Anyway, the audio cuts out a bit but Austin wont reveal who the higher power is.

[1999-06-05-MPPW-TV] Kurt Angle vs J.R. Smooth
Pretty weak Power Pro overall. Who put cory in the cage and why? Now that Tim mentions that is Lawler's other son, I see the resemblance. Match was ok for what it was and Smooth did some good bumps in there with Angle. *1/2

[1993-06-12-WCW-Saturday Night] Lost in Cleveland
This is certainly not good. I don't think I have as much viscerally hate for this as others as I just view it as wrestlecrap worthy and not something offensive but it does pour away some of the goodwill WCW has gained throughout the year for me including stuff I defend to a degree like Flair for the Gold. Collette cast in this way was so stereotypical and the melodrama is too much.
