Solid list again. My question for Liam for the pod would be what was weighted when ranking these. For example, WM 6 does only have one good match but then again so does WM 3 and that will be a top 10 Mania whereas WM 6 is a bottom 10 one. I think this also is a good comparison for the WM 8 vs. 10 debate which are really two match shows a piece with a nice highlight at the end. The only Mania of this batch I would champion as higher would be 7. One of the best Mania matches of all time IMO and at the least, some of the best WWF storytelling in history. A really good opener, tag title match and bloody main event. The show also sprinkles in other highlights like the blindfold match, the starting of the streak and even DiBIase vs. Virgil which is decent. I would find a way to sneak WM 7 into my top 10 Manias overall.

Good show and I think having your personal list as a basis was key to keep things structured. One thing I wasn't so much of a fan of was that most of the arguments against portions on your list invoked nostalgia and other intangibles. I understand that certain Manias are special to certain people (27 and 29 would be for me), but I can also objectively see that neither of those were good shows compared to the pantheon of the other shows. I look forward to the middle portion the most since I assume the top 10 will be most of the usual suspects.

I'm in the camp that this is a clear top 10 AJ tag from the 1990's. Right now the only ones on the level to me are 9/30/90, 12/3/93, 5/25/92, 5/21/94, 6/9/95 and 12/6/96. I thought this was incredible and completely enriched by Misawa's two former partners going up against his new protege and Ogawa being so unconventional in counteracting everything Kobashi and Akiyama threw at him. Speaking of Akiyama, he looks poised to be the ace in this match and gave a wonderful performance too. This never drug for me just kept building and building to a hot finish. ****3/4

I loved this. Hogan actually seems pretty invested in this program which is welcome from how checked out he was from the second half of 1998 onward. He feels impassioned about what he is saying and levies some good claims against what Flair has said about him in recent weeks.

Duggan knew how to tug the heartstrings of a fan base that still appreciated this sort of thing. Ill give WCW credit that as bad as most things are now they do have interesting characters like Duggan and Konnan that feel really different from ECW and WWF at the time and still could have an audience.

Yup, agree here that this is poor. Weve gotten some glimpses of how PE essentially became non entities for all three big three companies in a matter of months.

Shining Wiz: I would say AJ is above a part time ROH talent but not necessarily full time really like the Briscoes/Kingdom etc. He is probably on 75-80% of the shows and ROH seems to be his #2 priority behind New Japan. The conflict with New Japan is why I don't see him in the title picture any time soon but him facing upper midcard guys is pretty smart to me in that he isn't really burying the top talent but still getting over.

No but I have it lined up. The SNME and PPV spectaculars were overall pretty strong in 1990 from an in-ring perspective compared to other years of the Rock N Wrestling era.

Really fun show guys, Steven's booking aside. I think having a potpourri version of the PWSS once every couple of months was great. This had some good sidebar discussions and wackiness but kept a semblance of wrestling as the backbone which I appreciated.

Russo would seriously be my guess. This guy had a few moments of brilliance at the right time and it still needed other filters to work on that level. He then has parlayed that into over 16 years of steady employment with numerous organizations and opportunities. His latest scandal is as seedy as it comes but honestly, who was subscribing anyway. I can't see much good in Russo.

Been listening since last year around the jump onto VOW. I still say the best asset of the show is the length and having energetic opinions. Being a predominant WWE podcast, it is up against the curve of discussing stuff that can be seeked out in numerous other avenues elsewhere in the wrestling podcast scene. I think having some differing opinions on things and bringing energy in a condensed environment is critical to retaining listener-ship. The WWE PPV preview shows are usually a personal favorite. I also enjoy the live prospective that you bring to NXT Rob as that is unique. In fact, the NXT coverage overall is another differentiating factor that is beneficial for STR overall. This is my opinion but I'm generally not as huge a fan of the call in shows. I feel the opinions spouted on the callers become samey for the most part. In addition, with limited time, each caller doesn't really have a POV before we are moving onto someone else.
