Dave Meltzer stuff
I actually think Bruce Mitchell is great, if you can get past the "everything was better in Crockett" stuff. He did a podcast with Keller this week that dissected every issue with WWE and TNA programming like a serial killer. Agreed. He has a few peculiarities and annoying traits, but I've never understood why Mitchell is barely mentioned in PWO. Mitchell can be great at times, but as someone that was a Torch subscriber from 2008-2013, it really devolved into "we've heard this before too many times" and he came across as a blowhard that refused to move an inch on any past opinion he had formed. Digging back into the archives, you see even more examples of him really taking a minority line and sticking up for important issues. I do like Bruce and think the Torch overall gets dissed on too much from the F4W crowd, but lapsing my Torch sub hasn't given me many regrets.

Cross Arm Breaker - 2015 Match Blog
Match Book Preview one was put together sleekly. I think the blog in quick review format is a great way to get bite sized opinions on matches.

[1999-01-23-ECW-Detroit, MI] Sabu vs One Man Gang
Fun ass match with Gang resulting back to his early days and being a great bumping big man that also dished it out quite a bit. This is a match that looks odd on paper and made me curious but was actually better watching it. Sabu's bumps looked crisp and were built up and the finish was teased well. ***1/2

[1999-01-23-MPPW-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Sean Stasiak
NO match really as Lawler gets handcuffed and Stasiak makes out with Stacy. She resists it at first but seems to be coming around as we fade to black.

[1999-01-23-RINGS] Volk Han vs Hiromitsu Kanehara
I loved this match and the use of reach that Han utilized to his vantage. Whenever he was in a compromising position, he used that to regain the advantage and it was awesome to see how Kanehara dealt with that. Han does a great job of making the opponent look dangerous while still feeling like the aggressor throughout the match. ****

[1999-01-22-CMLL] Atlantis & Emilio Charles Jr & Felino vs Black Warrior & Blue Panther & Dr Wagner Jr
I still really dig this match on rewatch. It felt a little short this time but packs a lot of punch. I like the unconventional end to the first two falls with the first fall ending on rudo brutality and the second fall having the tecnicos ripping masks. Everyone had highlights here but it was nice to see Atlantis show more fire than he usually does. One of the more entertaining matches of 1999 so far. ***3/4

Best Royal Rumble of all time?
I was at 2010 live and it never struck me as a great event overall. Taker vs. Rey was a very good big vs. little match and Zeke vs. Christian was good. I really disliked the Mickie James stuff, the Orton vs. Sheamus match and thought the Rumble was just finisher, finisher, finisher until Shawn got eliminated and Edge won.

[1999-01-22-AJPW-New Year's Giant Series] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada
So here is the first puro match I ever watched. I think people that are getting into New Japan now cant really understand the magnitude of not being able to watch this stuff on youtube and only have memories of someone like Liger in regards to Japanese wrestling. Thinking back now, I really have no idea how I as a 14 year old commandeered into getting this tape and whether it came from DVDVR or crazy max. Anyway, the match holds a special place because of that but it is a great bomb throwing match that does have sprinkles of depth. It also has some annoying no sells and feels really dangerous to where they are now passing around the title and also elevating the action to diminishing returns. Still, this was the last match Baba watched with a smile on his face and Kawada gives a great performance on a broken arm. Still, 14 years later, Japanese wrestling can inspire me and me loving this match has a lot to do with that. Great stuff. ****1/4

[1999-01-21-WCW-Thunder] Interview: Ric Flair
Wow, what a promo from Flair. I remember being so turned off by this match in 1999 but that was me at my angst years with no appreciation of history. Everything Flair touches on here is spot on and works great in retrospect. His promos from December 98 and January 99 are up there with any point of his career.

[1999-01-18-WCW-Nitro] Interview: Rey Misterio Jr
This does make Rey more annoying talking about not taking the LWO shirt off considering how against the group he was. At least him talking about the importance of the mask works for getting over the angle.

We see some clips of Vince in the ring here throwing around Dr. Tom. Vince has been great in these and really made some intrigue for the Rumble overall.

[1993-02-20-WCW-Saturday Night] Ricky Steamboat vs Brian Pillman (Lumberjack)
I was surprised to still hear Ross to be honest. This feels like the final straw for Watts all around with Ross being gone and the finish during the break. I liked how involved the lumberjacks were here and how they cheered on their respective charges. I thought the action was really good here and looking at the PPV lineup, I don't understand why this wasn't on that show. Interested to see where WCW heads from here. ***3/4

It is the same Iizuka. Not much more I can add in as this was nonstop awesome with some much action and intertwining hate. My favorite aspect may be that Hash wasn't even in there saving that altercation up even though we get the incredible staredown. This is right up there with the amazing multiman matches from the 1980's. Super stuff. ****1/2
