[1996-02-15-CMLL] El Hijo del Santo & El Dandy & Dos Caras vs Blue Panther & Apolo Dantes & Emilio Charles Jr
Another great match from CMLL 96 as this one again featured some awesome pairings highlighted by Dandy/Charles and Panther/Santo. I thought the finish of this was more nonsensical than the last match making it dip a bit for me comparatively but this has been a strong effort and resurgence for the promotion as a whole. ***3/4

[1996-02-15-NJPW-Fighting Spirit] Jushin Liger & Black Tiger vs Shinjiro Otani & Koji Kanemoto
Awesome tag and I wish we had a series of them throughout the years. I was gearing up for an Otani/Kanemoto bulldozier dick fest until Kanemoto got caught and was the FIP. Liger adn Tiger really impressed me here just waylaying on Kanemoto to where you start to build some sympathy up for them. Hot finish too and New Japan has churned out the best matches of 96 so far. ****

[1996-02-12-AJW] Manami Toyota & Mariko Yoshida & Kaoru Ito & Yumi Fukawa vs Takako Inoue & Kyoko Inoue & Chapparita Asari, Tomoko Watanabe & Kumiko Maekawa
All action fun stuff. There is a lot of names here, some that will be stars later on and some that are on their way down. The action was relentless and everything was hit really cleanly. It isn't something that is memorable spot by spot or a match that has a lot of depth but it was one of the better iterations of this type of match style and I was vastly enjoying myself watching the match. ***3/4

[1996-02-12-WCW-Nitro] Hulk Hogan vs Arn Anderson
I thought Hogan's reaction here was slightly better but yeah it is still played out. The match is another one for Hogan in 1996, nothing offensive but nothing great either and you are just waiting on the wild finishes. This one delivers too as Arn this time used Liz's boot to pin Hogan to the shock and delight of some in the crowd. *3/4

[1996-02-11-WCW-Superbrawl VI] Ric Flair vs Randy Savage (Cage)
I don't know what to think about this match. There were portions I really liked but most things just felt off from a production standpoint, from Flair's frame of reference and even Savage with his comebacks. It is a match I want to like more giving the buildup and the moment of Flair regaining and the Liz turn which is pretty shocking, but there is just too many moments of oddness and Flair was more interested in literally showing his ass than having a great match for some reason. ***

[1996-02-11-WCW-Superbrawl VI] Brian Pillman vs Kevin Sullivan (Strap)
I understand the shortcomings of where this could lead and the stupidity of the bookerman line but as a stand alone event on a PPV, I liked this a good deal. I think Pillman walking out makes sense in the f'd up way his mind was working at the time. Ditto for Arn to come out and step up into his place to maintain Horseman honor. Those red golf shorts fighting is a glorious visual.. Flair is eventually able to calm everyone down. *

[1996-02-10-CMLL] El Dandy & El Hijo del Santo & Silver King vs Negro Casas & Apolo Dantes & El Satanico
I will take any Satanico and Dandy we get so I was delighted to see that here. I thought this overall was extremely strong and one of the better matches we have seen. The match certainly felt like one that was building to something more down the line but all of the pairings were strong and the sequences were extremely smooth. For a shitty lucha finish, this was in the upper end with some conceivable misunderstanding. ****

[1996-02-05-WCW-Nitro] Randy Savage vs Chris Benoit
Fun match with an interesting pairing. I understand the criticism being laid out about Savage but I love watching him sell damage so seeing him do it here for the ferocious offense of Benoit didn't bother me at all. We also get a good hot moment leading to the Superbrawl match of Woman being reunited with Flair so that was a nice angle to set up the PPV. **1/2

[1996-02-05-WWF-Raw] Bret Hart vs The Undertaker
I was surprised this was on tv too. Fuck finish with all three brawling with each other but an effective job of where they were heading towards Mania and towards the February PPV. WWF booking in 1996 hasn't been all hits so far but it has taken a nice simple but effective approach with most of the stuff and been enjoyable.

[1996-02-05-WWF-Raw] 1-2-3 Kid vs Hakushi
Foley saying hardcore home felt like trolling at its finest. Really good match with Hakushi hanging in there and Kid continuing to look great. A story was carried out here and Kid looks strong heading to the PPV match. **3/4

[1996-02-05-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels & Diesel vs Davey Boy Smith & Yokozuna
Probably the last time Diesel felt like a true babyface for the match in his WWF run. I liked this match a good deal and was impressed with Davey Boy and his athleticism and keeping things moving in the heat segment. Finish was clever in keeping YOko pretty strong and play up his weight as Owen and Davey can't lift him to get back into the ring. Solid stuff and felt different from most stuff on Raw. **3/4

[1996-02-03-ECW-Big Apple Blizzard Blast] Rey Misterio Jr vs Juventud Guerrera
This had some good spots but felt too showcase for me to really enjoy. I think the crowd and Styles being annoying as fuck contributed to that. I understand why they would start off with this to show off for the crowd but both guys have shown way more depth even this early on in their career. **1/2

[1996-02-03-NJPW-Fighting Spirit] Masahito Kakihara & Hiromitsu Kanehara & Kennichi Yamamoto & Kazushi Sakuraba vs Yuji Nagata & Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Shinjiro Otani & Tokimitsu Ishizawa
I liked this well enough but it was aimless at times and I thought the UWFi guys were pretty outmatched minus Sakaruba. I was especially disappointed in Kakihara as I have liked what he has done later on in the decade. On the low side of the spectrum for multiman matches in New Japan history. ***1/4
