[1997-08-30-ECW-TV] Rob Van Dam vs Tommy Dreamer
This did seem to be two steps back. I have no idea why Sabu is now a WWF soldier. The match highlights were good though and Dreamer is a really sympathetic character to the crowd at this point in time.

[1997-08-30-ECW-TV] Rick Rude and Shane Douglas promos
Francine had some great heat around this time and has been raised overall in my eyes as a valet. Rude implying he was paid from services from her was a nice touch. Decent segment overall to introduce Douglas as champ.

[1997-08-30-USWA-TV] Interview: Tommy Dreamer / Interview: Jerry Lawler
I thought Dreamers promo was ok but not super. Lawler helps him out by explaining the reasoning of why he doesn't want Dutch vs. Dreamer to happen and even throws a ton of digs towards Bill Dundee in the process.

[1997-08-30-USWA-TV] Dutch Mantell and Jerry Lawler
Crazy three way sequence with everyone looking like they have a vendetta against one another. The host gets pushed around again by lawler. I loved the bump Beard took off the punch. Dreamer is able to create a chaotic scene when he invades the USWA.

[1997-08-30-USWA-TV] Interview: Tommy Rich
RIch seems really animated about a lot based on this quick snapshot.

[1997-08-30-USWA-TV] Billy Travis in the parking lot / Interview: Brian Christopher
I am all in on this feud. This was a super heated brawl with christopher racing up in the car and them having a great brawl before BJT retreats. Christopher storms into the studio and then does a great fired up promo. Who are the new hosts?

[1997-08-30-USWA-TV] VTR: The Downfall of Billy Joe Travis
Man Billy Joe singing is UGLY. I loved that a piece of trash hit him and he stops the song mid line to ask who threw that. Great recap.

[1997-08-29-WWF-Friday Night's Main Event] Interview: Truth Commission
I liked Sunny sizing up the guys and the Commandant bringing them to attention. Fun little segment.

[1997-08-29-WWF-Friday Night's Main Event] Interview: The Undertaker
This started spotty with Takers logic but got better the longer it went and I like how they hype this as the first one on one match between the two.

[1997-08-29-WWF-Friday Night's Main Event] Interview: Shawn Michaels
This show has a whole new look with it being on Friday. Shawn is out and again cuts a hate-filled promo. I love the cut aways to jock guys in the crowd incensed at what Shawn is saying. He has now hit the Undertaker twice with the chair but was pushed to do so. shawn justifies his actions by saying he was pushed to do it.

[1997-08-26-AJPW] Kenta Kobashi vs Hiroshi Hase
Awesome match for Kobashi working Hase style. Hase looked good in the All Japan environment in just this match and for a mid size arena main event, I don't know what more you could ask for. Really mat heavy in the beginning but interesting work throughout and good escape counters. The finishing stretch was really hot and I do question Kobashi winning, but both competitors still looked strong coming out.

[1997-08-25-WCW-Nitro] Four Horsemen and Curt Hennig
One of the best wrestling segments of all time. The image of Arn talking about someone hitting him on the back and him realizing that his career was over melded over Flair fighting back tears in the shot behind him was such powerful stuff. I really felt like this version of the Horseman had a long run in them and along with sting, would essentially dispell of the NWO.

[1997-08-25-WCW-Nitro] Slim Jim Commercial
I always liked the cut shot in this commercial from the guy dropping the big elbow to Macho doing it. I guess Slim Jim was not into his NWO persona as he is still pretty much face savage mode.
-
[1997-08-25-WCW-Nitro] Raven promo
Raven gives us his thoughts on..... well I'm not quite sure. Raven going to WCW and essentially trying the same gimmick as ECW felt like an odd choice and never seemed to fit at all.
-
[1997-08-25-WCW-Nitro] Eric Bischoff, J.J. Dillon and Sting
Great to see sleazy Bischoff pack in the forefront as he plays of Sting here wonderfully as Hogan still has been phased out the last few weeks. Sting smiling was played up well by Tony and feels like a big moment as the angle keeps progressing.

Where the Big Boys Play #59
- [1997-08-23-ECW-TV] Tommy Dreamer promo
Promo was intense and good enough from Tommy. The end was a neat way to put a bow on the Lawler feud and move on.- [1997-08-23-ECW-TV] Jenna Jameson promo
Jenna was a fun addition to the ECW product around this time and seemed into it enough to at least fake it.- [1997-08-23-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler and Brian Christopher
James Beard is the new Eddie Marlin I guess. I liked the build to Dutch vs. Jerry and Lawler has a had an impressive resume in 1997. The Christopher vs. Travis feud seems hot at this point. Very good and noteworthy show overall for the USWA at this point in time.- [1997-08-23-USWA-TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Pretty big momentual announcement and essentially the nail in the coffin I assume for the USWA. Channel 5, Saturday morning Memphis wrestling is no more.- [1997-08-23-USWA-TV] Interview: Doug Gilbert
Doug gives his take on the events and put over seeing USWA live in the process.- [1997-08-23-USWA-TV] Brian Christopher and Billy Joe Travis
This was a wild scene that was brilliantly well done by Memphis standards. The empty arena gives a jolt to the audience member at first and I liked how they played back the details of the scene with more information being added like a true news story. I always wonder what the cars driving by the studio thought when they saw stuff like this.- [1997-08-21-WCW-Clash of the Champions XXXV] Lex Luger & DDP vs Scott Hall & Randy Savage
Fun finish to the tag match and I think it was smart for the NWO to win its one year anniversary match. The finish was corny but I remember the visual of Sting and the Vulture well to this day. Sting has been thrusted into the forefront more in August of 1997.- [1997-08-21-WCW-Clash of the Champions XXXV] Dinner and a Movie
Paul Gilmartin is a surprising dick heel and this segment worked well with Gene being appalled but I can't help but feel like this is starting to lessen the NWO a bit and make them still look kind of corporate being involved in this segment. I would have liked them to remain more rogue.- [1997-08-21-WCW-Clash of the Champions XXXV] NWO Syxx T-Shirt Commercial
World famous syxx pac on the back. I would not wear a shirt with a pool ball on it. - [1997-08-23-ECW-TV] Tommy Dreamer promo
