Wrestling With The Past #1
probably a Southern thing I haven't given any thought to but I know everyone in my family says shaking their head or will specify that he is shaking their head no in disagreement. Of course, I'm also someone that proclaimed someone was "dressed to the sevens" so I have been known to mis-speak common sayings.

Wrestling With The Past #1
MAD USA is the highlight of this podcast. Great addendum to the set. This podcast is great to listen to as a standalone but even better once you watch the yearbook. I can't tell you how many times I shook my head along in agreement with what Childs and Charles said. It is not just a groupthink mentality either. I personally love Jumbo vs. Misawa 6/8/90 and think it holds up while both childs/Charles didn't. The yearbooks give you a great outlet to digest a year in wrestling with an objective eye and see what you enjoy the most.

Rick Martel
Definitely on my to do list using the spacemountain post as a reference point.

Rick Martel
Should have prefaced that I was referring to Martel's Arrogance gimmick matches. That may not be true to (have only watched the yearbook stuff which has been ok if unspectacular). I am a big fan of Strike Force and while I haven't seen the Islanders matches yet, I do really like the Hart Foundation tags a ton.

I concur with the action figures, the sting is still one of my favorites.

[1991-06-08-WCW-Power Hour] Ric Flair & Arn Anderson vs Bobby Eaton & Big Josh
Bad performance from Arn/Josh and a fairly lifeless tag overall. WCW is really starting to look bad. Flair vs. Eaton was still a fun match up but this didn't do a ton for me to have to turn into the Clash.

[1991-06-08-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Eric Embry / Carl Styles and Jerry Lawler
Lawler really played up this segment with a dapper robe/crown combo. Him and Lawler have a good jawing session that just makes you want to see the inevitable fight between them two even more. I don't know who Stiles is but he is mainly here to get beat up by Lawler.

[1991-06-03-WWF-MSG, NY] Hulk Hogan vs Sgt. Slaughter (Desert Storm)
Don't think I have ever watched this. Thought it was great. First, Anvil, Booby, and Gorilla on commentary is pretty bad all around and were too busy making some goofy jokes or Anvil doing his maniacal laugh instead of playing this match up like they should have. Second, this MSG crowd was dreadful. I can see how if this was SUmmerSlam this would have looked real bad. I thought it might have been a Sunday matinee or something but it appears it was a Monday night which is strange. I don't know if people were tired of Hogan, disgusted with the angle, or didnt give Slaughter a chance. Anyway, Slaughter was fantastic in this. He has an ability to be one of the best big match workers of all time and his selling is sublime. Hulk for his part is all business and not mugging for the crowd. I got real invested in this match and thought it was super.

Miley Cyrus
Not only that but our lunch table involved multiple women criticizing Miley while fantasizing that they were the ones twerking on Thicke.

[1991-06-02-WCW-Main Event] Arn Anderson & Terry Taylor vs Bobby Eaton & Dustin Rhodes
Fun tag match with some interesting pairings. Arn asking what the damn computer says was outstanding. He really fits in here and Eaton takes a great bump off the DDT and shows some fire fighting from the underneath. We do get the tease of Ricky leaving the match before adding context to the Danger Zone segment. This was good stuff overall as far as I'm concerned.

[1991-06-01-WCW-Power Hour] Danger Zone: York Foundation
Morton is called out and Paul E is talking a mile a minute but Alexander, Terrence and Mr. Hughes is out to offer him a contract. Seeing Marlena in the slammy swimsuit contest and how she looks here is alarming. Dustin comes out to inquire what is going on and Ricky assures him he will do the best for Ricky Morton.

[1991-06-01-USWA-Memphis TV] Eric Embry vs Doug Gilbert
Double juice int he mid south coliseum. Tojo comes in with a 10 gallon hat and the Texas flag attacking Gilbert. Gilbert beats Tojo down but this allows Embry to hit Gilbert with the flag for the pin. Good advancement of storyline. Surprised all of this happened in just over 7 minutes.

[1991-06-01-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler and Miss Texas
Pretty good jaw jacking section between Texas and Lawler. Hangman just chills in the background. Lawler warns Texas that he will slap her and does just that. The angle made it look real bad as Texas goes down like a ton of bricks. The crowd of course pops huge at all of this.

[1991-06-01-WWF-Superstars] Earthquake, Jimmy Hart and Andre the Giant
They really have pushed Quake well the past couple months with this and the Damian angle. Sucks they didn't do anything with it. Savage is still really heel on commentary. This was a really cool angle overall and maximized Andre as much as you could at this point.
