[1991-03-10-WCW-Main Event] Sting vs Larry Zbyszko
Credit has been given to Sting here and I did love the way he acted throughout this match, but Larry Z may be one of the most underrated workers of all time. He still gets a perception of being a stalling, by the numbers heel. He is sprinting in this match and working really hard to make it a raucous, out of control match with great crowd heat. Zbysko has been such a revelation to me the past year with the 94 Regal feud, 90 Saito match, AWA stuff, and now this match.

Fun little studio action with a good bit of action and a good victory for Jarrett to boot. I wonder if they knew where Austin was headed by this point.

[1991-03-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Lawler is dressed up for the occasion and the final hype job is in place. This was a great low key promo I thought that got over the magnitude of the match with Funk. Even though we havent seen Funk defending the belt a whole lot, this is the most they have put into building the title between 1990 and 1991 and we seem long past the days of Cobra holding the title at this point.

[1991-03-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler Tribute
I legit had chills watching this. The way it was constructed with the dramatic clips and Lawler going up against all these big names was mesmerizing. By far one of the best videos for wrestling I have seen.

Sherri vs. Woman
I would go with Sherri. Woman was gorgeous to look at but not as versatile to me. Sherri was able to blind in well with a good many of her charges and played the bimbo/conniving role really well.

The Definitive Four of the 80s
I wouldnt be too excited as I doubt I would have Dibiase as my #11 if forced to vote, I just added him because I think he gets a ton of debate around here and would be seen as "strong" contender at most of the other places. If Justin was doing a Chad vanity project, I would more than likely have someone like Backlund on the list.

The Definitive Four of the 80s
Flair, Lawler, Funk, Hansen, Savage, Tully, Bockwinkel, HOgan, Rose, Steamboat, Dibiase would be my pick for a top 11 actually to start with.

The Definitive Four of the 80s
I would go with top 10 for 10 wrestlers spanning as much as they can.

[1991-03-09-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Sgt Slaughter
This is probably the most iconic promo from the feud and was still great with great heat and the way the flame engulfed the Hogan shirt. I do want to see Hogan extract revenge.

[1991-03-09-WWF-Superstars] Update: Virgil/Ted Dibiase update
Virgil vs. Dibiase oriented update here. I always liked that Piper flew down and covered his hands over his hand when Haku was pinned. Dibiase did a good promo giving some advice to Virgil and Piper.

[1991-03-09-WCW-Pro] Rick & Scott Steiner vs Fabulous Freebirds
Still don't understand why the Steiners couldn't just beat Doom straight up causing them to start having dissention but I digress. This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be given how awful the Freebirds looked getting the ring. Also where was their entourage? The Frankensteiner finish looked sort of weak but it got a huge pop for the win.

Marty Jannetty
I can see Marty as a dodgy sort of heel getting some play.

Marty Jannetty
I like Marty, I really do and I agree with the crux of the thread that when he was put in a signature singles match position he was able to have a real good match and performance. I vastly enjoyed the Buddy vs. Marty match from the AWA set for instance. Where I usually sort of stray from the argument that seems to prevail is in this regard. 1. Marty could have been a bigger star 2. Marty was definitely better than Shawn in the Rockers era. In regards to 1, I just don't see Marty having the charisma and personality to become a big singles star on his own. He was able to carry good matches and do quick burst interviews but there is a wall in my mind on where he could have developed beyond that. Perhaps he could have come into his own and had promo ability in him like Bret and Shawn did in 1997, but I am pessimistic. This may sound harsh but I do see Marty in a lot of ways as an upgraded Robert Gibson. I have watched a good bit of Rockers in the past year or so with the AWA stuff, yearbooks, and my own personal revisit. I have not seen empirical proof that Marty is better in Shawn. Sure there is instances and matches where this happens but I have not seen prolonged stretches of this occurring. Marty might have been better at singles matches and going beyond the template at this time than Shawn but I did like Shawn more in the majority of the AWA tags and stuff in WWF like the second Conquistadors match and the 10/90 Harts tag. I'm certainly no proponent of the Shawn is the GOAT camp, but I do think in some regards the argument of Marty>Shawn is not backed up by definitive evidence.

The Definitive Four of the 80s
Parv, Its not US work only but it is US worker only. So for instance, everything Funk did in Japan counts but Jumbo is DQ'd from the discussion because he is not born in the US. Savage and Tully are very close. I listed around 10 names and besides Hansen, the difference in quality of worker from #2 to #10 is very minimal. The five guys I specifically numbered were guys that I think if force to voted on this board, they would receive the most consideration. I personally would have Funk below Hansen. I also haven't seen most of the Portland stuff so I cant gauge Buddy. In my personal list, Tully and Savage might be back to back although I do think I would have Savage ahead as we have a ton of output from him in the 80's and a lot of quality stuff is out there. Tully does to but on the surface level it doesn't seem as much and I am not a huge fan overall of the Brainbuster run of 1989.

[1991-03-08-USWA Texas] Eric Embry & Steve Austin vs Bill Dundee & Gary Young
Great stuff. The moment where Embry makes Young and Dundee explode only for them to high five and clean house was awesome. The FIP section on Gary Young was shockingly good with him creating a lot of sympathy and Dundee rallying the crowd from the apron. I also liked the finish and how Dundee really looked like he had Embry tied up with no where to go. Up there with the best stuff we have seen from USWA in 1990 and 1991.
