[1990-06-15-NWA-Power Hour] Arn Anderson vs Rocky King
What type of superheros are these. Sting looks like a star but everyone else doesn't. Ross tries to hype up that the record book will show a Rocky King win but that seems hollow.

Thunderbolt being the surprise is a letdown and he looked broken down physically even here.

[1990-06-15-EMLL] El Dandy & El Satanico vs Atlantis & Angel Azteca
Man I want to see the Dandy/Atlantis match because the heat when they are together was off the charts. I really enjoyed the arm work in this match and especially enjoyed the finish of the third fall. Childs description is accurate in that they didn't seem to be aiming for a classic with the structure of the match but the talent was so good at this point that it ended up close to being one.

Matt - For sure check out the 1990 Texas Borne stuff and I will check out 1993 Doink as Borne has really opened my eyes so far in 1990. I had been really indifferent to him but his Maniac character and intense brawling and promos has been fantastic so far.

Your Current Fav Five
As of right now: 1. Lex Luger - Someone who my perception was really hindered by his reputation among most internet wrestling fans. Watching his stuff for the podcast as well as the 1990 yearbook shows that he was a very good wrestler early on his career and utilized power moves and selling in his matches effectively. 2. Ric Flair - About a year ago, I was burned out on Flair. In fact, the only match that really hit me on the All Japan set was the 83 match with Jumbo. I just thought I had seen too much of the guy and couldn't appreciate new wrinkles he brought to the table. Again my podcast watching rekindled my love for Flair especially the Starrcade Garvin match which I think is just wonderful and intense as hell. The 1990 and 1994 yearbook glimpses of Flair as a babyface give great depth to Flair characters you are traditionally unaccustomed to but fit Flair wonderfully. He also in 1990 had many very good matches with a variety of opponents and styles. 3. Bull Nakano - Honestly, maybe the best worker I have seen the least amount of footage from. Her 1994 was really good and I can't wait to see her in 1990-1992 era as the true ace of the promotion. 4. Jerry Lawler- Lawler is captivating to me in 1990 having great interactions with Snowman, Jimmy Valiant, Ben Jordan, and Nate the Rat. While we haven't seen a traditional classic match from him in 1990 his elevation of interviews and promos has me contending him as a WOTYC for the year 6 months in. 5. Mitsuharu Misawa- For a while I would call him the GOAT. Now, after seeing him struggle in his early years, I am backing off. However, I did love his performances in the 5/1990 Jumbo six man and the 6/8/90 match with Jumbo. No one right now makes me think and ponder more than Misawa matches.

[1990-06-13-NWA-Clash of the Champions IX] Interview: Ric Flair / Ric Flair vs Junkyard Dog / Interview: Rocky King & Sting / Ric Flair and Sting
I was so let down that we didnt get the new Orleans entrance live for JYD. One of the worst matches of the year but really couldn't ask for much more from JYD at this point. This was a really stupid finish. El Gigante continues to be worthless as they position him on the ramp and he lets Arn run right by him doing nothing. The Sting/Flair confrontation was well done though and the challenge for the Bash is extended.

[1990-06-12-NJPW] Big Van Vader vs Stan Hansen
I am in the Loss/Peter camp and thought this really bordered on being a great match and would be with some editing of about 3-4 minutes. The inconclusive finish was predictable and actually came off more organically then most of those do. This match did have a lot of restarts but the sequences in between with the brawling and stiff shots made up for the odd structure in my mind. I really liked this New Japan card as a whole.

[1990-06-12-NJPW] Riki Choshu vs Animal Hamaguchi
Another good brawl from this show. This match in some ways reminded me of Fujiwara/Choshu 6/9/87 with the jumping in the aisle and overall short, intense feel of the match. Loved the double juice that both guys brought out. This might be a sneaky top 100 contender for me at years end.

[1990-06-12-NJPW] Jushin Liger vs Masaji Aoyagi
I really liked this a lot and it was something entirely different from what I expect a Liger junior match to consist of. First two rounds were pretty good mat wrestling and then Liger SNAPS and it just becomes an intense war with Aoyagi trying to hang on.
