[1990-06-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Lawler walking through the fire was a little odd at first but I did like the analogy of a snowman melting. Good promo to set up the big match.

Dibiases money necklace is awesome. I thought the promo and investigation though was a little too hokey for me.

[1990-06-08-AJPW-Super Power Series] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Jumbo Tsuruta
My #2 match of the year so far. I just think in the history of wrestling it is very rare to see this type of upset on this magnitude. As obvious as it is watching the beginning of the All Japan that changes need to made, I still think this was a very ballsy move. To me what this lacks in polish and overall excitement is made up in the emotion and story being portrayed. It really felt like a #1 NCAA football team going down and a changing of the guard all in one. Jumbo has no reason to act as desperate as he does in this match but yet he does going for big power moves, flying off the top rope, and even continuing looking to the crowd for approval. The downfall from when he venus fly traps himself in the ropes is amazing. In the span of 25 minutes, he realized his best days were now behind him. The ending really gives me chills every time I watch it. I love this match immensely.

Where The Big Boys Play #26
Thanks for the constructive criticism shoe. We really enjoy doing the podcast but want it to be enjoyable to all the listeners as well. I definitely want the show to be a wrestling podcast first and foremost with only slight diversions in other topics. Probably a 95/5 ratio is optimum in my opinion. Our last two shows have probably delved too much into the other spectrum but I know for the Clash 2 show part of that problem was the lack of stuff to say and it had many wrestlers that we have seen numerous times before save for Al Perez. The GAB 88 show should be an exclusive wrestling show as it is noteworthy and contains great wrestling. I also re-listened and realized I said at the end that the Rock N Rolls face the Midnight Express on GAB 88. I don't know why I goofed and said them since I have seen that Fantastics/MX match around 10 times.

[1990-06-08-EMLL] Perro Aguayo & Ringo Mendoza & Lizmark vs El Satanico & Sangre Chicana & Ken Timbs
Nice glimpse into the main event scene but I couldn't get into the match that much. I enjoyed seeing Timbs and Satanico was good although I think so far into the year I am lower on him than most. The other guys are pretty much the definition of indifference in my book. Highlight to me was how Satanico reacted to Lizmark injury and the out of control brawl that results from that.

Jumbo & Tenryu
Got Jumbo comfortably in my top 10 of all time and he is in contention for #1. Probably wont to watch Tenryu also from a retrospective career arc standpoint and didn't dig a ton of him on the All Japan set until 87 but he is a pretty solid top 10 contender for me. Love both guys immensely.

Wrestlers you really dislike
Good god even that piece of shit photo of Brody pisses me off. Will said it best one time that looking at Brody and his entrances you expect the damnedest match of all time then get a bunch of laying around and shitty punches. Brody may honestly be one of my least favorite wrestlers at this point.

Longevity
I am almost halfway through the 1990 yearbook and would say Flair far and away is still my #1 WOTY at this point.

[1990-06-07-Hamada's UWF] El Hijo del Santo vs Fuerza Guerrera
I am definitely higher on this as everyone else as I thought it was a really good sprint type match. We get some showcase spots early then Fuerza says fuck that and crotches santo and drops him right on top of his dome. I always like Santo selling when he milks it and this was no exception. Ending stretch is good with some power moves and maybe one of my favorite Santo dives of all time with the glare from the lights in the screen. Fuerza makes a costly escape allowing Santo to win with the clutch.

[1990-06-07-Hamada's UWF] Gran Hamada & Perro Aguayo & Kendo vs El Signo & El Texano & Negro Navarro
Kendo does look good here and I probably jinxed myself complaining about Hamada because his sequence with all three guys in the first fall is breathtaking and one of my favorite cat and mouse chase sequences I have ever seen. However, again I thought a lot of steam was lost after the first fall and this match felt really long.

[1990-06-04-Hamada's UWF] Negro Casas & Blue Panther & Fuerza Guerrera vs El Hijo del Santo & Super Astro & Kendo
Thought this was headed to surpass the joshi match with the first caida which I thought was the perfect showcase style pairings and sequences. Match lost a good bit of steam for me as it tried to become more serious and intense. Everyone was working well but something still seemed a little off. Good match nonetheless.
