[1990-03-03-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler ... and a word from Jimmy Valiant
Pretty nice way to get a sponsor in a logical manner. Dave getting in some quick digs on Lawler is great. Lawler rationale for the match is also brilliant on his part. Nates reaction shots are great. Jimmy's adidas shirt is awesome and he does a typical Jimmy promo talking about the King Loser and Mempho.

[1990-03-03-WWF-Superstars] Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior promos
Ok promo by Hulk at least showing some semblance of humbleness. Warrior is crazy as hell saying he wants to be spoken to like the God that Hulk speaks of. Anyone against having some writers on WWE staff currently should watch this shit as it is really tough to get behind anyone in this feud and we have only seen this meta, ego driven promos so far.

[1990-03-02-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Jimmy Valiant
Glorious bullshit and aescalation of the JYD match. Everyone that listens to my podcast knows I have a love for Jimmy Valiant and damn if he didnt get me to laugh out loud around 4 times during this match. Lawler was also great insisting he be declared the winner by dq. Just fun stuff all around.

[1990-03-02-NWA-Power Hour] Louisville Slugger: Kevin Sullivan, Buzz Sawyer & Cactus Jack
Cactus again looks awful but the real star is Buzz who looks and acts batshit insane given his promo. Interesting stable of guys.

[1990-03-02-EMLL] Angel Azteca & El Dandy & El Texano vs Fuerza Guerrera & Jerry Estrada & Pierroth
Azteca and Dandy on the same team.... hmmm. Estrada continues to bump like a loon in every match I watch him in by doing a nestea plunge spot to the outside. Then Pierroth takes a horrific bump when the rope breaks. Match gets real disjointed from there but the action was still good and we got the first piece of a big feud in EMLL in 1990.

[1990-03-02-Hamada's UWF] Perro Aguayo vs Gran Hamada
I couldnt get into this very much. Weird flow to the match and the ref bump disaster was distracting. I did like Perro being a huge dick with responding to every flurry of offense with a swift kicks to the head and lifting the bleachers and hurling it towards the Japanese fans. Hamada is someone that his spots always look good and this may be controversial but I am still awaiting a blow away great match from him.

[1990-03-02-Hamada's UWF] Negro Casas vs Yoshinari Asai
I actually enjoyed this a good bit as a look into early Ultimo. I found it interesting that at this early point in his career he covers his botches much better than he would later on. This is definitely a showcase match that gets into your turn my turn territory but they did show some restraint and the match was the right length.

[1990-02-27-UWF-Road] Nobuhiko Takada vs Yoshiaki Fujiwara
This match really requires a lot of paying attention to the structure of the beginning and subtleties to get over the storyline. What a rewarding payoff to with the finish. I really loved everything on from Fujiwara trapping Takada in the corner and dancing around looking like a Tiger stalking his prey. The ending submission was an amazing resourceful move that got me fist pumping in my living room in celebration. What a three match stretch to end February.

[1990-02-25-NWA-Wrestle War '90] Ric Flair vs Lex Luger
A majestic match fitting in great storytelling along with Flair playing a masterful heel. The nonfinish is actually pretty brilliant also by showing Luger trying to prove his friendship to Sting. I really think a lot of the future history and ups and downs can be traced to that moment because long term fans subconsciously were able to recall the time Luger gave up the title for Sting. The power vs. resourcefulness strategy is not utilized much in wrestling but here it works real well and these two are the best suited for their respective strengths. Maybe Luger's best match ever and to be honest not too far down the list for Flair. My MOTY so far.

[1990-02-25-NWA-Wrestle War '90] Midnight Express vs Rock & Roll Express
Amazing that after so many matches between these two at this point and time they can have a match so great and fresh. All of the Cornette stuff was amazing especially the moment when Nick Patrick untucked his shirt and was ready to throw down. The shot that Eaton especially was laying in was brutal. A great Ricky Morton beat down ensues which leads to a satisfying finish. An amazing match.

[1990-02-24-USWA-Memphis TV] Robert Fuller and Brian Lee / Jerry Lawler, Kerry Von Erich and Nate / Music Video: Jimmy Valiant
Fuller starts with a great promo then gives a great old school beatdown on Lee giving him a DDt and great shots. We even get a shove for Eddie Marlin. The decline of Lawler to flipping out and losing his shit when Nate returned with the food was fabulous and he really tears into the studio much to the amusement of the fans. I also love in Memphis when they bring up and embrace past history. Music video for Boogie Woogie was well done.
