[1994-08-27-WCW-Saturday Night] Dusty Rhodes and Nasty Boys vignette
I would put this one up there with spin the wheel make the deal and Beach Blast in the cheese department. Dusty gives a good promo and you wish they could have mixed in this speech at WCWSN or something. Have the Nasties beat up two jobbers and then get Dusty to do his spiel. However, if that wouldn't have happened I wouldn't have been able to get the good life like I did from watching this.

[1994-08-20-SMW-TV] Interview: The Gangstas
Another good promo by New Jack explaining that rap music is taking over. Mustafa had some goofy expressions that hurt the overall interview.

[1994-08-24-WCW-Clash of the Champions XXVIII] Ric Flair vs Hulk Hogan
Crowd was defintely hot for this match. Seeing this match really shows how they had to add the career stip along with the cage for Havoc to mean anything. I have been forgiven of a lot of super hero Hulk performances but this is one of his worst. The injury was presented as such life a death the whole show that we really should have had a sting/Rude situation in my opinion. Flair looks like a complete idiot at the finish to boot and the figure four is made entirely meaningless.

[1994-08-24-AJW] Akira Hokuto & Aja Kong vs Dynamite Kansai & Yumiko Hotta (Elimination)
I may be on an island but I thought this was utterly fantastic and by fantastic I mean that I have it as the #4 match of the year ahead of Queendom. Kansai looked dominant. Hotta threw some ass kicking strikes, Aja was the warrior that got knocked the fuck out in a finish I loved, and Hokuto plays the most sympathetic overcome the odds babyface in the world. Not getting the beginning down time hate because of the way the strikes and submissions were mixed in with little niches like fish hooks and what not. Just a great match that I watched once and loved but thought I may have over rated, I then went to the pool and thought about the match some more so when I came back I watched it again and it held up wonderfully. A splendid match that proves sometimes your loss can be someone else's gain.

[1994-08-23-ECW-TV] The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer / Interview: The Sandman & Woman
Felt like a PPV recap from WWF but with the way Styles did esssentially Play by Play to the stills was really weird. The promo afterwards was ok. I just can't get into much of the ECW from this time.

[1994-08-20-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Dusty & Dustin Rhodes
Two great promos and outfits. This feels like a really big feud with a lot of pride and hatred.

Most awesome Gangsters stuff yet with New Jack calling out the NAACP, Mustafa spitting watermelon, and New Jack shouting.

[1994-08-20-USWA-TV] Interview: Buddy Landell, Tommy Rich & Doug Gilbert
Can the USWA please let something breathe in 1994. Landell has already turned and it is tough to get invested because you never get to cheer for Landell before he turns. Landell cuts a good promo but the impact is lessened by the circumstances.

[1994-08-20-USWA-TV] Eddie Marlin and Doug Gilbert
I have always liked Marlin laying the law down so this satisfied me and Gilbert does a decent freakout at the 5 match hair stip.

[1994-08-20-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Owen Hart
First Owen promo in a while that matches the stuff earlier in the year. He left the cartoonish King of Hearts stuff off here and just cut a good serious promo. Good work giving some breath back into this feud.

[1994-08-18-UWFi] Vader vs Nobuhiko Takada
An epic battle and a match were Takada's superman tendencies work because he is matched up against such a huge monster in Vader that for the entirety of the match, every time he was on the ropes he regained the advantage whether it be impressive mat work, a short kidney punch, etc. Nothing was easily achieved until Vader gained the distinctive advantage. Vader winning felt like the biggest moment of his career and it really shows how Vader really has had two of the most distinctive victories for a heel or foreigner in wrestling (this and the Vader/Sting GAB 92 match being the other). Overall one of the better matches of the year.
