[1994-08-05-NJPW-G1 Climax] Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs Yoshiaki Yatsu
Best of the three G-1 matches so far but never really built to the dramatic finish I was hoping for.

Great post FLIK and got me excited to watch as I have seen probably 5 GAEA matches in my life.

[1994-08-03-NJPW-G1 Climax] Keiji Muto vs Yoshiaki Fujiwara
Was not as into the mat work in this match. Muto really has lost a lot of luster in my eyes over the years. The finish was awesome with Fuji grabbing the arm and getting the submission.

[1994-08-03-NJPW-G1 Climax] Hiroshi Hase vs Shinya Hashimoto
Enjoyed the opening mat work but I expected it to be setting the table for a long match, Hase getting the flash pin felt like a big moment and worked well in that he really caught the crowd, Hash, and myself by surprise. Really nice thing to do to add intrique to the G-1

[1994-08-01-WWF-Raw] King's Court: Bob Backlund
The pre Backlund stuff was really great and felt like something that wouldn’t take time to bother with today but showed how much of a jerk Lawler could be. I also liked Backlunds promos during this era as he really presented being an out of touch person that snapped.

[1994-08-01-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon
Agree more with Kevin on this match as while I thought it was good, it had a bevy of problems. Savage mixes in a lot of court references in the match which is amusing. Shawn bumps like crazy for Razor but Razor controlled too much of the match as we didn’t get a heat segment on him proper until after the second commercial. Then when finally Shawn is in control he results to rest locks. The ending was nice and Diesel was really starting to get pushed big but his post match shots looked pretty weak. Overall good, but considering this was the longest Raw match we have seen so far this year on the yearbook, and how high I am on both of their ladder matches, this disappointed me.

[1994-08-01-WWF-Raw] NOT GUILTY
Savage yelling NOT GUILTY was a great moment and VInce was such a pompus, giddy ass gloating about this.

[1994-07-30-WCW-Saturday Night] Nick Bockwinkel statement
Bockwinkel does a Tunney style announcement and has a more outdoors themed office. The fine amount for Sherri seemed legitmate and appropriate here.

[1994-07-30-WWF-Superstars] Bret Hart vs Bob Backlund
Really great match that made Backlund look like a threat. Jerry once again was great on commentary putting you inside backlund’s train of thoughts were you can understand that he might be annoyed by Bret extending his hand again.

[1994-07-30-Michinoku Pro] Taka Michinoku vs Jado
Nice ending with Jado securing the win. Match was fun but didn’t have much lasting impact and I thought they did cram in to many styles for a 15 minute match.

[1994-07-28-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Steve Williams vs Mitsuharu Misawa
Surprised to see someone not like the selling Misawa does for the first backdrop as that is one of my favorite sell jobs ever. Misawa is the ace and this is the first time I can remember that he truly looks out on his feet and was lucky to fall to the outside. The build to that moment was incredible as Doc seemed like someone who had a equalizer in his pocket at all times. This match really grabbed me more after watching other Misawa defenses than it ever has before and to me the match gets better the more you reflect and analyze it.

[1994-07-23-NWA] Sabu vs Al Snow (Ladder)
Interesting setting for this match with a hockey rink but the middle of summer with kids walking around with towels and swimsuits on. This match started off fine but then kept going and got progressively worse. Lots of slow climbing and an anticlimactic ending. Sabu moonsaulting twice at the end through a table and looking like he could himself only to have a couple of people chant Sabu was really sad. He had to raise the belt over his head to get an reaction.

I thought the tone of this was great and New Jack played his part perfectly. Just an awesome scene that represents a lot of tones in the South.

[1994-07-23-WWF-Superstars] 1-2-3 Kid vs Jeff Jarrett
Kind of cliche to talk about how disengaged Lawler is now compared to earlier WWF but this is a shining example. he was amazing here an it is nice to see early him and Ross working together. Good little tv match and Kid had a really good year in 1994 with TV matches when given a chance to stretch them out.
