Is Bulldog a face or heel here in his return? Anyway, this looked like a fun finish and a lot of convoluted stuff. Mankind putting the mandible claw on Rock got an interesting reaction. The referees attacking Koderas was a nice touch. Finish was nicely done with Austin having to count the pinfall for HHH before giving him a stunner when he gloats too much. -
This lived up to its rep based on what we saw here. Lifeless action and the dogs are adding nothing to the proceedings. Even though JR and King are sort of tongue in cheek by the end, Im surprised they didn't shit on it more while it was happening. The guy tripping in the entranceway did make me lol.

I liked Joel on the call here. Good tv match with Guido showing off his wrestling and Sal added a lot of flavor on the outside interfering. Crazy is an easy babyface to get behind and he was willing to be led along by Guido and then take center stage for his highspots. Good quality wrestling on display for TNN. ***1/2 (7.1)

So long Shamrock. For the two minutes this occurred, I was shocked at how bad it was. Jericho certainly hadn't found his footing of whether to be comedic heel and then flip the switch once the bell rings. Shamrock being able to bleed from the mouth on command was always a bit disturbing. 1/2*

Some pretty big hockey names for this point in time. THe comedic timing of Rock and Mankind cant be denied and their bit before the match was funny here. I appreciated Road Dogg actually saying he cared about the titles before bringing out Billy Gunn. It's a hokey way to reunite a team after a failed push when they were just at each other's throats, but at least there is a legit reason for them to come back together. The match isn't anything worthwhile but I did like how it established the NAO as the better team based on experience and that played into the finish with them picking up the win. *3/4

I have a firm appreciation for the effort that was put into the match. The output didn't make complete sense to me from a storyline perspective but the execution and effort was top notch. I have little doubt that in both competitors mind, they went out and accomplished exactly what they set out to. As far as my rating for a "great" match, I do think it was a great spotfest which is what I referenced above. Those cap out for me around **** historically so therefore you have the rating I have landed on here. I didn't think the amount of stuff right they did matched something like Misawa/Kobashi from 6/99 which also dipped into access.

I knew as soon as the 3 count ended, I would probably be low on this one. There was some incredible stuff done here but they were so determined to go onto the next thing that the pace was lost. This was the worst case scenario of a Toyota match from a pacing standpoint with better execution. I went back this morning and rewatched and got even more angered. Stuff like a piledriver on a table/floor leading to Omega literally being back on offense two minutes later is too much of a leap in logic for me. I wanted to see if I was being fair so I went back and looked at the 10/31/98 Misawa vs Kobashi mtach. That was a match that I remembered really edged up to access without going over. In that match, Misawa hits the TD from the apron at the 35 minute mark and the only offense after that for Kobashi was a lariat as a defense mechanism and one chop. This match had 25 minutes of action after that piledriver spot leaving it meaningless for the finale. There is other more nitpicky stuff that has plagued some of Omega's biggest matches like the V Triggers being in excess, the first two Destino's being moot according to the way the move has been presented throughout the tournament, and Omega having Naito in the optimal position to hit the One Winged Angel which no one has kicked out of and opting for the feat of strength German instead that Okada just kicked out of the night before. All of that and a finish that was never in doubt make me portray this as a wonderful spotfest but no where near one of the best matches I have ever seen and contemplating whether modern wrestling to one degree or another has passed me by. ****

Tanahashi/Naito, Okada/Omega and Omega/Naito are all worth nominating. I think all three are great matches.

Very good six man that like everyone says really ramps up once Kobashi starts getting worked over. Fuchi is such a prick in these things just raking and getting cheapshots in whenever he can. Jumbo also had the viciousness. I liked the positioning of Misawa as the clear leader here and showing more stoic qualities than he was displaying as the young gun knocking off Jumbo in the prior two years. ***1/2 (6.8)

I won't rank but this was some beautiful wrestling that was up there with the 1987/1997/1991 versions of their feud from the footage we see here. I liked the intense tight matwork that had no air between the moves that were applied. The finishes of each of the falls also flowed wonderfully into each other. The climax being the first time they really dive to the floor was dramatic and had been built up to so well.

I relistened to the WTBBP tv special and must have been in a bad mood when I watched this the first time. This was great on this viewing. It is also possible that with the glut of current day G1, it was nice to watch this style of match so it hit the sweet spot. Still, Arn was selling wonderfully and attacks just as well when he goes on the offensive. Paul E picks his spots well. Dustin also has grown as a worker and feels like an underdog but certainly someone that belongs with the tecnician like Arn. I didn't even mind the schmozz finish as it looked great with everyone flying around setting up feuds for the future. **** (8)

Nothing match but it is jarring watching Steph just 10 months later parade around compared to here. Really all four of these men in the next 10 months have a big difference. Steph gets the pin which is a fun spot even if its a little eye rolling to see the IC champ get pinned by someone in their first match. 3/4*

Agree with sentiment that MSG match is the best of the bunch but for a Colosseum release, this wasn't bad at all. I thought Fuji added a lot here as a nice change of pace and everything was positioned well for Yoko's strengths in this type of match and how he wasn't above taking shortcuts. Finish helps protect Bret as well. How many times was Gorilla going to call Yoko a beached whale? ***1/2 (7)

A good match with a big ol botchy finish as everyone has mentioned above. I continue to like this feud and thought from an overall story standpoint as the feud was winding down, it was smart that it transitioned from Tenryu beating Fujinami here and Inoki at the dome before running into Hashimoto. The opening mat work in particular was engaging and locked on tightly from Fujinami. ***1/4 (6.5)
