[1993-10-16-SMW-TV] Rick & Scott Steiner vs Heavenly Bodies
Arnold drives me nuts. I know I am down on the Steiners but they have a chained dog in their corner at all times. The action looked pretty good though and I liked Curtis stopping the pinfall when he sees the racket. Agree that Cornette was probably pushed a tad too strongly here for my liking. The interview back in studio wasn't one of the better SMW offerings as it revolves around too many mystery teams and trying to set up matches in the future without giving away who they would be against.

[1993-10-16-SMW-TV] Tracy Smothers vs Brian Lee
Really liked the clips of the match we saw. Sherri always looks so fired up and great as the pissed off woman looking for revenge. For a shoddy finish, this was well done. The interview segment was also neat seeing Tammy and Brian Lee helping out Ron Wright and Wright has a pet name for Tammy. It looks like they are just trying to maneuver their way into Ron's will.

[1993-10-16-WWF-Superstars] 1-2-3 Kid vs Pat Tanaka
Fun and energetic match that would have been a nice change of pace compared to the squash heavy or WWF heavy tag affairs that WWF Superstars has offered this year. Pat Tanaka is always someone that gets a lot of hype and while I think that sometimes is based off the way he does shine when presented an opportunity and wouldn't be sustainable long term, he does work really well here as a base for Kid and reigning him in when need be. **1/2

[1993-10-16-WWF-Superstars] WWF commercial
Weird tone against most of the other stuff in WWF land around this time. The comparison of Godzilla and YOkozuna is a natural one to the WWF braintrust.

[1993-10-15-NJPW-Super Grade Tag League] Jushin Liger & Wild Pegasus vs Shinya Hashimoto & Masa Chono
Fun match watching the juniors mix it up with the heavies. I liked Chono and Hash taking a more bully role and being pretty dismissive of the junior contingent. The finish did come out of nowhere but that was kind of the point and it led to the great moment of Liger clowning around throwing it in Chono's face that he lost. ***1/4

[1993-10-11-WWF-Raw] Razor Ramon vs Rick Martel
Good match, Martel was still a fine mechanic and this was one example where the booth for the early year of Raw worked with everyone finding their spot. Ramon had grown as a worker over the past year and now seemed fitting for an upper mid card spot that the IC belt secured him. The best two spots were the reversal of the Boston Crab and the struggle for the Razor's Edge. ***

[1993-10-11-WAR] Genichiro Tenryu & Ashura Hara vs Tatsumi Fujinami & Osamu Kido
Anotrher exciting entry of this feud. I did think Hara and especially Kido were a little bit part here to make this a classic but juiced up Fujinami being pissed off creates an awesome visual. Kido coming in with his running headbutts to the stomach after all that piss and vinegar seemed hollow and I was glad to see Tenryu put him away to secure the win. WAR contingent is looking strong on these WAR shows for the month so far. ***3/4

[1993-10-09-USWA-TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler & Downtown Bruno / Interview: Vince McMahon
Lawler cuts another better promo than Savage in hyping the match. He announces Bruno in his corner as a sign of how little he thinks of Vince. Bruno comes out and cuts a good promo about how disgusting New York and Pittsburg is and how he had to retreat to the Memphis area. He even gets the crowd to chant along to "it be that way sometimes." Vince responds with another gloating promo that is kind of bizarre in tone but you could tell Vince loved doing it., Finally, we end with Eddie Marlin stripping Lalwer of the belt because of the way he won.

[1993-10-09-USWA-TV] Interview: Randy Savage
Better effort from Savage here as we at least get some info that Vince is going to be in his corner this Monday night.

[1993-10-09-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Randy Savage
Savage avoids the fire and is able to utilize the chain to secure the pin. I thought he did a good job of hiding it in his armpit for a few minutes. Jarrett raises his hand exposing the chain and the decision is reversed and given to Lawler. The clips here looked good but not great like you might think a match between these two could be.

[1993-10-09-WWF-Superstars] Update: Bret Hart/Jerry Lawler feud recap
This felt too abrupt to me as Bret's promo just ended and that was it for the segment. Lawler vs Bret still the most interesting thing that is happening in WWF currently.

[1993-10-09-AJW-Wrestlemarinepiad] Dynamite Kansai vs Toshiyo Yamada
What a great match. A ton of precision strikes but also some slick matwork and progression to build in. The context of the JWP vs AJW series really helped build the drama at the end for me as it seemed like Yamada had the match won multiple times but Kansai was able to reach down and fight back. Kansai is having a tremendous 1993. ****

[1993-10-08-WAR] Genichiro Tenryu vs Masaji Aoyagi
This was a fun match but I agree with the sentiment that it felt like an extended squash. I am always game for pissed off Tenryu and the way he threw the stool in between rounds and his complete disregard for Aoyagi in the powerbombs was endearing to see. Handheld was in good quality too. ***

[2000-05-29-WCW-Nitro] Jeff Jarrett vs Ric Flair
Nash/Steiner/Flair promo to start with Nash giving the world title to Flair. Jarrett interrupts and we get the match set for tonight with David Flair kidnapping Reid and Beth Flair. Sigh. I did enjoy how slow Nash was getting down the ramp to beat up security as 55 year old Flair and roided out of his mind Steiner beat him in the foot race. The match starts proper and I am happy to see Ric has found his trunks. Reid/Beth get brought out to ringside and Flair goes after them. Flair is busted open on the outside and despite all of the shit going on, he is still able to create some sympathy throughout the match getting the crowd into it. Russo hits Flair with the bat on the outside and Jarrett locks on the figure four inside. Lil Naitch comes out to referee now. Flair goes through the entire comeback and the crowd is right there with him. He goes to put the figure four on Russo but Jarrett slams the guitar on him and wins the belt AGAIN. Fuck this hot potato. I am legit getting furious at the disrespect. This match lived and died on the shoulders of Ric Flair and was fine as a result. **1/2

[2000-05-29-WCW-Nitro] Billy Kidman vs Sting
We learn that Goldberg returned tonight. Match lasts about two minutes until TOrrie distracts the ref allowing Vampiro to come in with the blow torch. Kidman is able to get the pinfall. Sting at least looked slightly motivated by doing the running clothesline from the ramp. Hogan comes out to make the save in his Red and Yellow attire. What happened to FUNB? They burn the red and yellow of Hogan in a trash can. Big f'n deal. Kronik clears the ring to not much of a pop at all. 1/2*

[2000-05-29-WWF-Raw] The Rock vs The Undertaker
Promo to start off with Rock/Taker/HHH as the principles. Steph is called a $2 walking slut by Rock. He does get off a pretty funny line of Shane > HHH > Vince > Monkey ass. Vince is pretty slimey realizing that both Rock and Taker have common goals so he makes the match between those two. I guess Vince and Road Dogg got taken out backstage and we get pre interviews of Rock and Taker to hype the match later on. Taker is certainly different and cool saying he “digs” the Rock’s stuff. No one fesses up to attacking the Helmsley McMahon regime so Vince makes this a lumberjack match. Instead of fighting each other, Rock and Taker go after everyone at ringside. This gets a great pop but I do feel some of the momentum of the big feuds of WWF so far in the main event scene has subsided. The numbers catch up to Rock and Taker and they get beat up relentlessly by everyone until Kane makes his return for the first time in a couple of months. Kane holds up the title only muddling up things. NR.

[2000-05-29-WWF-Raw] Chris Benoit vs Hardcore Holly
I think it was smart to give Holly the shot here as they knew Benoit would be cheered so having Holly heel it up before hand just amps up that narrative. Good match while it lasts as Holly’s stiffness plays well against Benoit. Finish has Jericho coming down and whacking Holly with a chair again. Way too much of that happening lately between these guys. *3/4
