Maximum Payne
He worked Henning right after Curt lost the AWA belt as well. IIRC the Apter mags pushed it as Curt needing to win to earn a rematch.

WCW's Highway to Hell
IIRC that's the Nitro w/ the Hogan/Nash vignette where they are watching and mocking a Flair promo and Hogan bombs at trying to keep up with Nash's one liners: Flair says "The Nature BOY!" Nash chimes in with: "Bud-dee Land-dell" and Hogan quickly offers up "Buddy Rose"

Race worked for NWA in 1990. I'm intrigued by the 3 1993 Flair matches- [1990-12-26-NJPW-King of Kings] Masa Chono vs Lou Thesz

Supposedly DX as a group were suppose to go in this year too- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
It's the 25th anniversary of one of the worst days of my child hood. No doubt I was balling by the time the 2nd ref showed up to confirm the screw job. I still get chills watching this and I even distinctly remember the little 10 second teasers the WWF ran showing Hogan being choked out by Andre while Hogan's voice over plotted revenge...oh to be 5 1/2 again... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRG0Q6Dy7Wk- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Never heard of it until now. Sounds...bizarre. He apparently signed at least 2 Viking lineman to participate, including Pro Bowler Gary Zimmerman- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Any idea if Verne Gagne's 1992/93 Sumo U.S. Tour actually got off the ground? I see numerous articles in the newspaper archives promoting it, but no results. KHawk?- "He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad

Any idea how Verne Gagne managed to get action figures and VHS tapes made while JCP was largely idle on those fronts during the same period? AWA even had books released in 85.- NWA and WWF cable and syndication
In Green Bay as a kid - We had WWF Superstars on at 11 on one channel, then Wrestling Challenge on right after on another channel (This led to me freaking out as a kid because Randy Savage wrestled Hercules and The Barbarian on each show back to back and I thought Savage was going to get pummeled) In the late 80's we had some NWA show but I was too young to remember what it was (I do recall Dusty and the Russians feuding and the RnR Express among others) Then in the late 80's early 90's we got WCW World wide on Sunday Mornings and by 1992 it was moved to midnights (I still remember sitting at my Bros house seeing the recap of Simmons pinning Vader for the belt) We also had AWA for the whole 80's into the bitter end of promotion in the 90's. I also suspect we had WCCW and maybe UWF syndication as I have random memories of Pre WWF Dibiase and the Freebirds that I can't explain. Didn't have cable until 2002.- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
! Sgt Slaughter. Monster Trucks. A Guitar. Amazing.- Dave Meltzer stuff
Oh yeah. Lex had terrible booking back to his NWA days. They turned him and had him lose so many big ones, but he still was over. The "blood stoppage" loss to Flair was a killer, considering I think I've lost more blood cutting myself shaving. Not only did it make Luger look like a guy who can't win the big one, it made the promotion look silly as well. I looked at it is putting even more heat on Flair. JJ busts Luger open, a tiny trickle leads to a corrupt Maryland State Commissioner to save Flair's belt.- "He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad

Did VK Wallstreet's anti-WCW gimmick go anywhere after he was ordered out of nWo by JJ Dillion or whatever the deal was? I just remember him wearing a WCW shirt w/ the WCW crossed out briefly afterward.- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

Jules Strongbow managed to go from WWF tag champ to being stuck in small Philly indies within a year or so. Yes he was fat and largely bland as a worker but him not getting lower card job duty in the WWF is surprising - although Jay didn't like him so he probably made sure Jules stayed unemployed- "He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad

I love me some Inoki but no selling a Andre head chop and going right into a slam... oh Antonio! I really like the Andre/Inoki series, it's too bad the blow off match where Inoki submits him had such a weak finish.- WWE acquires the Watts video library

To be fair, nobody really knew it was Zenk and I'm not sure Norton vs Sting was highly anticipated by any means - was there an angle? I only have 1 Scott Norton match on tape from this era and it's a squash and I think Norton's a face. - Harley Race
