Dave Meltzer stuff
I wonder if that means someone clued them in to who Jon Jones is. They had to know him. Jon Jones was at a Raw backstage and I believe he did the Ice Bucket Challenge with Big Show and Mark Henry. On Jones's Instagram there's pics of him and Triple H doing crotch chops. Edit: He was backstage at Summerslam.

Current (#2) Japanese promotions
AJ airs 1 show per month on GAORA,and 1 show per month on Samurai TV. Niconico airs a AJ show once every couple months. Thanks Dan. Anyone do write-ups on the matches / shows or in-depth coverage in English? The only site I can think of is the Keeping the Spirit Alive Tumblr and that's mostly results. http://keepingthespiritalive.tumblr.com/ Stu Max just closed up all of his sites including his New Japan one so the information side is drying up since the footage is more available.

Famous fans
A$AP Yams from the A$AP Mob just passed away and looking through his Twitter, apparently he was a wrestling fan. https://twitter.com/ASAPYams/status/531594294357135360 Don't know if a lot of people knew who he was but I think rap fans will know. Jon Caramamica of the NY Times wrote an article about him yesterday. http://nyti.ms/1xIDjNP

Dave Meltzer stuff
I don't know what Dave could really have that no one else doesn't WWF wise. The only way would be if someone from inside was hooking him up with stuff that was taped but not aired, which doesn't seem like it would be much. I could see him having some stuff from other territories or Japan that the recorders missed. Probably doesn't matter though as I'd think most of his stuff is ruined anyway from sitting in his shed, OUTSIDE, for 30 years. I remember him talking about seeing the Bret v Tom Magee match on tape at some stage. Fairly sure he's in a minority there... What was signifficant about this match? Was this Bret's first ever WWF debut? Dave said that Tom Magee looked great in this match and WWF couldn't wait to push him cause of his body. But they realized that he wasn't good and that Bret made him look good.

NJPW / AJPW / NOAH Bookers
Akiyama was definitely the booker around 2005 time but I don't know his exact start. Edit: Didnt read that Choshu was already up there.

Greatest Match in WWE History?
This match was praised when it happened, and it has continued unabated since. It's also the goto defense for a Cena Can Wrestle discussion. I'm not trying to argue taste, or single out this poster, but this match has never been under rated. Or under the radar. Sorry, I just see it often mentioned over theyears when this match comes up.. always leaves me a little puzzled. I feel like this has been buried a little bit when people talk about great Cena matches over the years. And I'm not talking about PWO posters, I'm talking about in terms of the Internet fans collectively. It wasn't on the top 100 matches WWE.com had and I thought they did a good job considering the circumstances of their work environment.

Greatest Match in WWE History?
I will say also, Cena vs Umaga might the most underrated great WWE Title match in WWE history.

Greatest Match in WWE History?
Wow, I hate that Angle-Benoit match. When I did the top 25 Rumble matches in history last year it didn't even make the list. After the 10th minute of German Suplex & sharpshooter reversals I seriously questioned whether I hate or love wrestling. I think we've had this convo before, but it's one of my all time favorite matches. The way they brought a dead crowd back to life, and the way they worked the reversals and the big spots, pretty much everything I love about pro wrestling. I am going to have to agree with Bill on this. I recently watched the Benoit/Angle match and it holds up to me. The reversals and the balls to wall action is something that WWE hasn't had in a while for their WWE championship matches (and for good reason cause of the outcomes of each guy). However, Austin vs Hart at WM13 is the best WWE match in the terms of what the bookers wanted and the fans wanted. The Survivor Series match is an awesome match bell to bell but pulling off the double turn and telling the story between the two guys hating each other to the point that they become the person they despise was a great credit to WWE and those two guys. Even when Ken Shamrock slamming Hart afteR the match was awesome and put the crowd in a frenzy.

Dave Meltzer stuff
I found this very interesting because when the UFC made Rashad Evans vs Jon Jones in Atlanta , I thought they were going for a black audience. I even thought they were going for a black audience when Rashad fought Chuck at their first ever show in Atlanta. I am a black male myself that likes MMA and know lots a black people who watch it casually too. It's just what you said though, they really don't market it to the black audience because they are worried about the tickets. I've been to one MMA card live and that was when Fedor lost is in Strikeforce. I knew I would never see Fedor fight in person ever and I took the opportunity. And that had a mixed crowd compared to one of my friends who went to the UFC Show in Newark (which he told me it was an unorganized mess in terms of security) who said it looked like a Devils game. Now with the race part about this, Bix nailed it in terms of those dynamics with fights. When I used to subscribe to the Observer, Dave compared the trash talk of Rashad and Rampage to Ali vs Joe Frazier, which made me cringe. Ali vs Fraizer had so much of a racial dynamic than any other "classic white guy vs classic black guy" fight. When Dave said that, I was afraid that people were watching Rampage vs Rashad for that factor vs the hated rivals factor. I watched the Jones vs Cormier PPV cause of the hated rivals factor but the racial factor did creep into my mind when seeing how other people were reacting.

Current (#2) Japanese promotions
As most of the people have said in this thread, Dragon Gate is definitely the number 2 promotion in Japan. The frenetic pace those guys go through attracts a lot of casual fans. Rich Swann in his Colt Cabana interview said that the DG shows consists mostly of women and gay men. I would assume that kids come to the show too.

How do you watch the network
I voted this also with the phone option. The Roku stick is the only reason I've kept the Network for this long. Roku has given me the best results since I've watched it through Xbox 360, laptop, iPad and iPhone. I usually watch the PPVs, some of documentary specials and NXT through the Roku on my TV and watch Main Event and Superstars on my iPhone. I think if they had a instructional video on their YouTube channel showing how to hook up any of the streaming devices to their TV, consumers might by the Network more. It's very easy to use.

That site showed in 2005 the Dome had 8,500. Kinda shows had bad the Inoki/Yukes leadership was. NOAH drew a lot more than NJPW in 05 but they had a stacked card. New Japan's growth is either looked at as great or overrated but it looks like they are heading in the right direction. They have came a long way from claiming Dome shows had 46K when they only had 8K.

WK9 live thoughts
I enjoyed the show even though I feel asleep during the IWGP tag team match during the live broadcast of the show. I thought the Nakamura/Ibushi match was awesome and the Tanashashi/Okada match was much better than their last Dome match. I get the criticism with their series because it gets repetitive but they do a great job this. As for the production of the English broadcast, I thought it would be more in terms of breaks and even vignettes for Global Force but there was none of it. Because of the time block on American PPV, this show felt rushed. If they do any more PPVs in America, Global Force has to get people from AXS Tv to see how they did it with those K-1/DREAM shows and how they put there announcers on camera. I was surprised they didn't even have a translator sitting next to JR and Striker to tell what guys said when they did a promo.

Wrestle Kingdom 9 Reaction Show w/ Will, Dylan, Pete, Johnny and Johnny P
Is the show on the iTunes feed? I've subscribed to both feeds and I don't see it. I'm interested cause I saw the show and liked it but it felt too rushed. As for the attendance figure, this is same thing I've always had a problem with in terms of Dome Show attendances cause they would mostly be the number from New Japan. I wished Zach Arnold was still covering Japan since he was the guy with the most accurate numbers.

Who was the foreign talent that Dave scouted for WWE? I never heard that story before. Was it the AJW wrestlers who came for that mini tour in 86?

Charlotte or Sasha Banks opinions
Sasha has gotten to be a better talker but there's times where she sounds like she's reading off a script. Not Bella Twins bad but still bad at times. But on the flip side, you see doses her character really being good. She's got the whole reality show crazy ratchet girl persona going and she needs more time allowing her to be a natural heel. With Charlotte, she's ok but she doesn't really get opportunities to talk. I'm with Bill on this one as Sasha is more complete for what the main roster looks for in the Divas division and she's really become a little ring general the last year or so. Like I'm never bored when she's leading the match and I can't say the same for Charlotte. It's funny that Manami Toyota was mention cause according to her Twitter, Sasha is a Akira Hokuto fan.

Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
Linda Miles was a dominatrix with the Bashams in WWE. It didn't work but it would be interesting if somebody tried that again.

Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
You took the words out of my mouth. I've been watching a lot of All Japan Women's from the 80s since I'm debating on the Greatest Wrestler Ever Project and I saw all of the matches Loss put in the Joshi thread. With AJW, they were booked in the own seperate world and had their own following and it was treated seriously. With WWE, the seeds have been planted with Total Divas but it's not enough for all of them to get over. WWE needs to have them separate in order to get them really popular but they don't have to market it just to teenage girls. Grown women have a lot of spending power too, just look at all of the commercials that are placed during those reality shows that Bravo, Vh1 and E! have. Much more money in marketing to women than marketing to the demographic that Raw has currently.

Punk to UFC
Now that would be a freak show fight. However, I wonder what athletic commission is going to give Punk a license to fight when he's cracked his skull and has had multiple concussions.

Punk to UFC
When I first saw about Punk signing with UFC this morning, I thought "Doing what?" I mean guys who have gotten killed or just beat the hell up in MMA coming from wrestling had legit backgrounds in amateur wrestling like Nagata,Shibata, and Nakamura. Batista had a hard time against a no name guy in his MMA fight and I remember other guys like Jose Canseco, James Toney and Jonnie Morton getting embarrassed. I don't fault him nor the UFC for doing this cause it makes sense business wise. I'm another lapsed MMA fan and the fights I've seen in the last 12 months is the UFC show last December with Anderson Silva in the main and the Connor McGregor show in Ireland (who reminds me of Punk in a way.) UFC needed this cause I doubt the buyrates for last night's show are going to be good.

<Split> NJPW World - their version of the WWE Network
Welp, I tried casting from Plex to Roku and it doesn't work. Looks like the Plex Cast chrome plugin was made for chromecast.

<Split> NJPW World - their version of the WWE Network
Did you try your Roku and casting it with the Plex app? I don't NJPW World but their press conference and intro video are there for free so I can try that when I get home.I haven't tried the plex app . I thought plex was just for files on your computer not for netflix or NJPW. Let me know if you make it work. There is a plugin that lets you cast websites with Plex from the browser to the Plex app on the Roku. I have to try it cause I have a MacBook and the plug in might only work for Windows. I will let you know.

WWE Network... It's Here
I'm enjoying this Austin Podcast with McMahon. They need to make this every week like one of those ESPN Radio shows.
