That's why I said that Battlarts is a guilty displeasure. I feel guilty that I don't like it. Granted I've just started trying to watch the promotion this year. I just want to know what to look for in Battlarts that I've been missing out on.

Guilty pleasure watching: Old ECW brawls and WWE Ladder Matches. I know in my mind that they messed up the careers of so many guys but I'll watch every time a ladder match is made on WWE TV cause of the insane bumps. Guilty displeasure watching: It might have to be Battlarts. I've got a list of matches that are supposed to be must see but I have a really hard time getting into the promotion. Every time I put something on, my mind starts to wonder and I eventually turn it off. I don't know why cause I've watched UWFi and other shoot style stuff without a problem. But Battlarts just doesn't get me hooked. Maybe it is the small venues. I really don't know.

I've looked at this thread when I got back on this board and now I've decided to post my story. To start off, I'm in my late 20s and from New Jersey. I started watching wrestling with dad when I was toddler and it was strictly WWF Superstars and MSG house shows. My favorites were obviously Hulk Hogan, the Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage, Big Bossman and Jake Roberts. But once I found out about WCW, I was hooked. Guys like Ric Flair, Sting, Lex Luger, the Great Muta and Vader got me to watch WCW on are regular basis and it opened me up to watching junior heavyweights like Brian Pillman and Jushin Liger (hence the name). I was amazed by the aerial moves and athleticism so much that I started take more smaller wrestlers like Too Cold Scorpio, Brad Armstrong and even Johnny B Badd. So when WWF started pushing Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, my attention went to them. Once the cruiserweights like Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio; I watched WCW mostly until WWF got better during the Monday Night Wars. Once WCW folded, my interest in wrestling started to dwindle. I kept my eye open on Brock Lesnar and the Smackdown Six but never really got the passion to watch wrestling again until Benoit and Guerrero won the World Titles. That moment got me back into wrestling and I discovered Ring of Honor through reading the Slam Sports website daily. ROH was my favorite promotion from 2005 to 2007 and opened up myself to watch more puroresu online. I joined the puroresufan board, the DVDR board (even participated in the Mid South project) joined this board and subscribed to the Observer once it merged with F4W. However, the ROH style burned me out and the Benoit tragedy bummed me out that I turned into a MMA fan towards the end of the college. Wrestling became very non existent to me because nothing got me hooked. Even when I got out of college, I had friends that tried to get me to watch wrestling again because of Bryan Danielson and CM Punk being in WWE and I just couldn't watch. I thought the product of the WWE got too stale and too corny for my taste. I let my Observer subscription lapse and my fandom for MMA lapsed as cause the factors of real life ( Jobs, family, girlfriend, bills and loans) just overtook my interest for wrestling. It took my brother telling me about the Daniel Bryan push to get me back into wrestling. It got the itch back in me to watch wrestling again and once my girlfriend left me, it gave me even more time to watch wrestling. I started to lurk on this board to see it it changed and I like the discussions that have been going here. The podcasts by the various members of the board help me get through my day and I appreciate your guys work. I used to do radio in college and it's not easy so my hats off to you guys. I enjoy this board cause it's different from other sites as it looks on the history of wrestling in different viewpoints. I might agree with views on certain wrestlers and certain styles but I respect everybody bringing their reasons to the table.

The Jericho match isn't a bad idea. The Wyatt feud killed his interest but I think your idea would work. As for guys like Titus and Ryback, they need to be built up and repaired in the audience's mind for Reigns in order help Reigns get to Wrestlemania. Reigns needs monsters to beat in order to beat the biggest monster at the biggest show of the year.

I never got why people loved Mark Henry so much until I just saw the promo he did on Rusev and Lana. My fandom is growing.

WWE would have a better shot going for a Sports Emmy than a regular TV Emmy. But even then, they don't have a shot because their main content. Only way if they would get an Emmy if they made documentary and was distributed by a cable channel or by an outside film company.

I know that Bryan Alvavez interviewed Mould on his website in 06 maybe and they went into depth about his time at WCW.

I only got to see the half of the show until I got home cause I was somewhere without wifi. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it and Brock's squash of Cena reminded of Vader when he was in UWFi. I was thinking a killer way of booking Brock is that his matches are always under UWFi or "hybrid rules" with the finish being a KO or a submission. Heyman can say that since he's the champ, he dictates the rules and make a deal with the Authority. Watching the match last night, ref stoppage would've got Brock the belt and give Cena a reason to challenge for NOC. EDITED: for grammar reasons

Finally listened to this episode and definitely agree with Dylan's take on how race is being portrayed in WWE and how bad they have handled it. It bothers me watching the product and how they show guys like R Truth and Xavier Woods compared to ROH where they showcase guys like Cedric Alexander and ACH as wrestlers and not "black characters". I'm looking forward to the Mark Henry retrospective cause I'm not a big fan of his and I missed out on his Hall of Pain run.

Haven't listened yet but I can only imagine considering he brought the thunder when talking about Vickie Guerrero.

$20 monthly for no commitment is something I wasn't expecting. It's begging people to commit for 6 months.

I don't think it will decrease that much but I am personally definitely on the fence with the Network in terms of renewing my subscription. I know they have an uphill battle post production wise with getting more content on this channel especially with uploading the Attitude era and Nitros with music rights and other editing things but they need more interesting programming. Hell, I'll take the Blackman's bounty hunter show. I just need something interesting.

When did Titus O' Neal become one of the best workers in WWE? I'm asking a real question because I don't watch Superstars.

I voted yes because Cena is starting to feel like Hogan was in 95/96. I was a child during that era and wrestling as a business on a decline. But I remember when Hogan turned and the NWO was formed, a lot of kids I went to school with came up to me to talk about wrestling (since I was one of the few wrestling fans in my school). So the whole thing about losing kids as your audience is a non factor because the kids will still watch especially with new technology now. Kids want something new constantly and a Cena heel turn would freshen up for more casual fans to take notice, kids and adults. Also when Hogan turned in 96, it took WCW roughly a year and a half for them to cash in on Sting vs Hogan as their main program and after that it took them a while to cash in on Goldberg. The point is that WWE doesn't have to have a guy immediately to become the top babyface to replace Cena. Reigns and maybe Ambrose can become that but they have to give it time before cashing in. The money right now is to make Cena a heel and milk that like WCW did with Hogan and the NWO before it got stale.

Just listened to the show and it was great. In regards to the backlash with Backland, if you just talk to older people that were casual fans during that time and I think you get a gist that Backland was a star but wasn't like Bruno, Morales or Superstar Graham. I've heard more about those guys from the 70s than Backland but Backland got respect. As soon as I heard about Andre, I thought about how he would drop the belt cause he was built as unbeatable. Atlas or Rocky Johnson would have been interesting as the top guy but might have been a transitional champ to split up the 6 year run. I hope more shows like this are coming in the future.

Shaq comes to my mind as a big celebrity that watches wrestling but I saw this the other day going through twitter. Most Overrated: I am going to have to go with Tomohiro Ishii. I've been playing catch up in terms of viewing New Japan as a promotion and all I read and hear about Ishii being the best wrestler in the world and I just don't see it. Maybe it is the headbutt offense but I'm not blown away by him at all. Underrated: If we are talking about all time, then I'm going with either Butch Reed or Too Cold Scorpio. Watching the Midsouth DVDs made me realize that Butch Reed was really good and could've been a world champion. Same as Scorpio. The Flash Funk gimmick killed him but he was in the group of early juniors with Eddie, Benoit, Malenko, 123 Kid and Jerry Lynn that were kind of pushing the limits of working in every promotion they went to. Scorpio should've got a legit shot as a top guy somewhere.

I saw Rewind last night and said the same thing. I'm closer to AJ's age and I had never seen the debut of Miss Elizabeth in 85.

NXT has that same overproduced feel but it is somewhat more loose than the regular TV shows. Like for example, a couple weeks ago they had Bayley and Sasha Banks doing promos directly to the camera which in WWE is a no no. Little things like that make me think that Triple H will not be as rigid as Vince and Kevin Dunn when it comes to producing shows.

I think the turn was right when he faced Morishima where he got the detached retina. Maybe after his match with Nigel to get the title shot against Morishima?

I know it was said before in the thread but Danielson's run in 06 just really pops up in my head. He kind of gave off the vibe of the old NWA touring world champ when he defended the belt during 06. He was in control in most of the matches and was able to incorporate different finishers each match like winning with the cross face chickenwing, small packages, the elbow strikes, etc. It just built so well into his matches later in his title run where the crowd bough the false finishes. I hope that if he goes heel down the road as the WWE Champ, he would be able to incorporate his 06 run move set when he does title defenses on the PPVs.

Does anybody have any backstory on Rikishi and Jon being on a rocky road? They kept saying that things weren't good between them but didn't say what happened.

I tried watching it last night. Kept kicking me off (Roku). Hope that's fixed by now. I recently got the network and it did the same thing last night when I watched it on Xbox 360. When I watch it on my phone, the stream worked great.

This was very true but I wonder when did Paul make the deal with Hot 97. It was an interesting time frame because I remember Hot 97 had Wendy Williams (who eventually became a shock jock for WBLS) and they eventually hired Star & Bucwild as shock jocks. It would've been interesting with Paul coming to a hip hop station but he was playing Goodie Mob and LL Cool J back when he had ECW.
