Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Or because he's an idiot. If some black dude would lecture him about it, Black Thought style, no one would bitch about it. That's called double standard. For instance, Awesome Kong did not *choose"* that racist name when she went to Japan. She was named that way in reference to Aja (who herself got a racist name because she was half-black), but she embraced it and made it het own. Keith Lee naming his finisher BBC in reference to a racist porn trope "may be" him taking a piss (why not), it may also him be a dumb fuck who thinks it's funny ah ah ah, like Russo would.

So, is Vince Russo booking WWE again ? I mean, a sexually racist acronym, that's everything Russo loves. And really people ? LSD ? Hitman ? Paul Bearer ? Hope you guessed why Henry O. Godwinn was named that way...

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

AEW Dynamite - July 22, 2020
It also underlines the fact that the move for NXT has been a colossal failure. Its only purpose was to hurt AEW and prevent them from even existing. It has failed on every level. AEW, a jumpstart company not even a year old, has been mostly kicking NXT's ass, despite the fact it's a program from the biggest pro-wrestling company in the world that has been on top more or less for 30 years. NXT not only has not attracted any viewers apart from the usual old demos of hardcore WWE fans, but it has not prevented AEW from being successful and getting a big TV deal long term. And now this. The NXT brand has been hurt and has totally lost its luster. Trip has been totally exposed (although the WWE fanboys are still believing he'll save the company once Vince crooks). In the long term, what a miserable failure...

Current New Japan
Wow. You're way too deep into old French stuff... He's only been basically the N°1 gaijin heel the last two years and has been awesome at it too. Great worker.

Current New Japan
Well, sounds like a show I can easily pass. Jay White is ten times the worker EVIL, so the trade doesn't work for me. As far as run-ins, this is something I really dislike about Gedo's philosophy, the way he imported annoying american tropes into NJPW. This is not something I want to see when I watch japanese pro-wrestling, once in a while is ok but when it's in every damn Bullet Club match (and no one never does anything about it) it's really frustrating. Needless to say I have found NJPW comeback underwhelming as all hell thus far.

Current New Japan
All main event *having* to go 30 minutes is a real issue now because it only works when you have guys at the level of Okada, Tanahashi, Omega and the likes. EVIL of all people shouldn't go more than 20 minutes, ever. I guess there was a hundred BC run-ins too ?

I never noticed it before, although I realize it's really famous. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hOZaTGnHU4 "I freak beats, slam it, like Iron Sheik".

Wait, Sean Stasiak was backstage taking bumps for these guys ? Didn't notice.

Is Impact* the best wrestling promotion in history? *(Now TNA again, 2024)
So, the MCMG vs North match was great. It's gotta be so frustrating for those guys to work in empty buildings, because the energy of the fans for this finish (or WIllie Mack winning the X-div title back then) would have been great. Alex Shelley looks crazy good, but he's actually only 37. Seems like he's been around forever. Also, can't wait for The Wresters House next week. I love those silly ideas, IMPACT always delivers with this stuff. Already this week the "Olive oil... Virgin olive oil... Very virgin olive oil" line by Bravo got a legit laugh out of me. This guy is one of the low-key most entertaining character in wrestling, has been for a while and only got more fun since Rosemary has been involved. The Good Brothers segment was good, so these guys are actually decent promos ? Good to know. IMPACT sure rebounded really well from the Tessa debacle and the clean-up from #SpeakingOut. Elgin was so dull as a character you don't even notice he's gone, and he was part of the main angles for a year and a half.

AEW Dynamite - July 22, 2020
Great show to to bottom. Eddie Kingston ! Fucking awesome promo, terrific match. Man, I sure hope he gets signed after that one. Also, if AEW is bleeding out the NWA, just sign Zicky Dice & Kamille already. Cody defending that title in an open challenge each week is so simple and effective to make the belt, Cody and everyone involve look more important. The only thing listless about the Ivelisse match was the Swole promo. I'm not gonna complain every damn week, but she's a puzzling case to me, probably the only one I actually don't enjoy at all in AEW. Yeah, Diamanté looked better but she is also younger and not as injured (Ivelisse has such bad luck in LU). The finish reeks of testing waters indeed and they could be a tag team tomorrow and it would be quite cool (either that of put Ivelisse with Ortiz & Santana). Really good match, these girls beat the crap out of each others, slapping each others way more than their thighs, which was nice. The Young Bucks vs Butcher & Blade was super fun, as was Lance Archer killing jabronies. The guy planted head first in the trash-can had me rolling. Page vs Five was a very good competitive JTTS match. What struck me is that it was basically structured EXACTLY the same way as Five (before he joined Dark Order) match with Omega, with him getting a lot, kicking out of a big move then being pinned by not-a-finisher. So, are idiots gonna complain on Twitter about that match too or that one flew above their heads ? Taz managing Cage & Starks (which began on Dark) = great. The incoming match should be quite fun too. Excellent main event, Sammy getting back (I bet some Twitter dweebs do complain about that one), Hagger looked maybe the best he ever had and actually made Luchasaurus look more like a monster than he ever did. Yeah, great weekly TV show. AEW has been on a roll since Fyter Fest.

Oh yes, some people sure did. And I thought it was ridiculous back then too.

Leftist pedophiles, or something. Feminists too probably. Wait no, Stephy invented that.

Hum... remember the days of "Road Dog saved Smackdown, his booking is great because is an Armstrong and there's clearly some Georgia element in the booking" bullshit ? Yeah, and that pic up there is another reason why doing an NoD reboot would be a very very bad idea because that stuff would pop up everywhere as a reminder of the days where you got some real stars in the company, ya know... Maybe Stephy will show it during her powerpoint presentation on systemic racism in WWE.

Blame COVID for the awful ratings. No, I don't mean because of empty arena stuff, I mean because tons of old people have died.

Yeah, because you'd trust WWE of all people to do such an angle in the most sensitive way... Bring back the HarriSS TwinSS already as bikers. With MAGATaker. And put Murphy with them. NOW we're having a feud.

So apparently they wanted to do an updated version of the Nation of Domination but changed their minds. Who wants to see WWE do a Nation of Domination (gimmick from 1996) update in 2020 in the middle of the BLM wave ? So much promises for hilarity gone wasted...

All Elite Wrestling
Well, tough shit for all the indie promoters and workers who'll see her on TV then. Listen, I don't pretend to know jackshit about her apart from her work, but like I said, I don't deal in rumors. I take a "difficult" personality who is a very good performer over.... I dunno, Big Swole, any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I hope she makes the most of it and gets a regular gig. Speaking of people who haven't surfaced anywhere after LU, surprisingly to me, where the hell are Marty The Moth and Cheerleader Melissa ?

Hey, don't diss, they are big with the 55+ demo. Those are the only people left watching WWE, basically. Which is why : Hey don't diss, to 55 + years old people, late 30's are youngsters.

AEW Dark Megathread
Raché Chanel cracks me up because she's so far removed from parisian chic it's really funny. I mean, she's totally sporting the idea of what a clueless trashy american girl would think parisian chic is, which I guess is the whole point, considering all of her overdone fun maneurisms. Hopefully she stays around and gets more than Dark jobs to do. Also, Taz knows how to pronounce Paris (without the s).

History of what ? What is Ivelisse's track record ? And no, Twitter diss and rumors from so-called "insiders" don't register for "history". As a viewer, she was a highlight of Lucha Underground. So I'm just glad to see her again.

To her credit though, Stephy did invent Black Lives Matter. (is it me or "Stephy invented whatever" is like an update on the old "Nova created every move in pro-wrestling" joke ?)
