Bitching about X or Y getting a job ? We hopefully don't do it very much, because it's stupid. The difference on Twitter is the hive mentality and the fact people tag *the actual people* that they target so they get the toxicity. Here we're in a close circuit, like in an underground bar of something. Twitter is people shouting in the streets and under X or Y's windows.

His business yes. But it's private business. Random people bitching online about Ivelisse getting a shot is ridiculous. Seems like people on Twitter have no life of their own at all and spend day trying to find something to bitch about and be toxic to people they don't even know.

Ric Flair (sigh)
Having Ric at the PC was incredibly stupid, indeed. I had a great joke (well, not) about not going to Starbuck because you're not a coffee drinker, but then realized it was all backward ! Well, wanted to say that what Starbuck passes as coffee is piss, basically.

Yeah, actually reading posts before replying to it. Good idea. I agree there was some really funny lines like I said.

Uh.... You haven't paid attention. Like I said before, I wasn't even aware of the Knights stories at all. And if we're being honest, the "feministic" aspect is really soft Hollywood bullshit anyway. I mean, even a movie like "All the Marbles" from 1981 which basically treats pro-wrestling as a shoot, deals with much more serious issues of women in pro-wrestling like the fact it was manipulated by men or cases of sexual favors. And the pro-wrestling aspect, despite the way it's handled, is actually so much better (I mean, the final match in Fight with my Family is ridiculously non-epic). We should make a thread about pro-wrestling movies...

Well, yes indeed. The Suge Knight reference really hit me ! Makes the whole movie even worse though, yes.

Ooook. Family bagage, like I said. But hey, we've heard for decades about how Stu Hart was torturing young rookie in the Dungeon and everybody was having a good laugh about it. I guess perception has changed and it wouldn't be considered so funny now. (never thought it was, ftr)

She's not wrong about some of the point she makes about the feminist part, but that's a testament of how godawful Hollywood is rather than how good this movie is. And really, "triumph of feminist filmmaking" is really embarrassing, it's about as dumb as anything Stephy would say. Good for him. The movie still has the most cookie-cutter script ever and looks to be directed by guys sleepwalking during the shooting of an afternoon TV-movie. Like I said, a good performance from the lead role and some legit funny lines. Vince Vaugh probably has taxes to pay though... I mean, G.L.O.W. is right here...

I'm a fan of Ivelisse. Maybe she's not a nice person IRL, I have no idea, but nobody's perfect, I'm not her co-worker, I'm a guy enjoying her work as a pro-wrestler. People getting pissed at someone getting a job because of rumors they heard on Twitter is yet another reason why people are idiots. At some point, if X or Y are difficult in the locker room, it's none of your business if you don't WORK HERE ! People getting pissed at Ivy getting a shot is really pathetic fake outrage and hive mentality. I'm sure all of those people bitching are perfect. Really now...

Holy shit. Long term consequences are a bitch... Mark's 57 year old dad is the only one left because he was a fan of DX back in the days and still believes the bullshit about Trip being the savior of wrestling and genius of NXT...

What has ? Saraya basically denied the story of her kissing a kid or something and that was never heard about again. Did I miss something else ? Paige surely deserves tons of credit for getting where she got with the family bagage though. Kinda sorta makes sense she would also hook-up with some abusive assholes like del Rio (yeah, that's piss poor psychology on my part but still, that thought floated on my mind watching the movie). And then another asshole (dont remember who that was) gets her sex videos online... And then she gets hurt and retires at 25. Not an easy life for that girl.

Is Claudio Castagnoli/Antonio Cesaro the best tag worker of this century?
Cesaro is a great wrestler but WWE style is rated on a curve. I'm just naming great tag-team wrestlers from the same time period. Robert Roode was a terrific tag-team worker for a long time.

And so I watched "Fight with my Family". It has to be the most by-the-numbers movie ever in the history of by-the-numbers movie. Seriously, this is some really tepid "believe in your dreams" Hollywood bullshit with fake-ass acceptance-for-the-freak underlining. Directed like a straight-to-VOD stuff. The worst thing is that it's not even a good "pro-wrestling" movie. There is this totally ridiculous scene of Paige's brother shooting on her, then they treat her RAW stuff like she doesn't have a scripted promo to deliver (and almost like the match is a shoot itself). Most ironic is the way the WWE Training Center training is portrayed, because you get why they very seldom turn out anyone good, as Paige basically does train the other girls by themselves. One cute thing was having one of the model-girls be called Jeri-Lyn (the idea that such a 20 something model had a 4 years old daughter is laughable as itself though, all the more hat she would end up in WWE at that time if that was the case). But most of the storyline was about how WWE is the dream-land of pro-wrestlers (again, how ironic). I'll say this though, Florence Pugh was decent in the role, and there was a bunch of legit funny lines ("dick me dead burry me pregnant"). The Rock cuts a promo. Lena Heady should fire her agent because going from a lead role in Games of Thrones to this is absolutely mind-blowing. Page's story surely deserved way better, as in, a real script and a real director, not some hack doing WWE promotional work, basically (and you really don't see much of it anyway, there's a cameo of Sheamus & Big Show, Miz go through the screens and that's about it). I did not remember that the damn butterfly belt was still around when she won it. She sure was the one kickstarting the change and deserves probably more credit than she is been given even today in the company.... Anyway, better than "Ready to Rumble", that's about as much as I can say...

WWE The Horror Show at Extreme Rules - Who booked this crap?
Reading this thread, this whole show reeks of stupidity. The Rey Rey thing is kind odd. Seems like all Rey is interested about is getting a job-for-life in WWE for his son. He really hasn't learned anything it seems... Plus, Dominic is put in an impossible situation, he's never gonna fill his daddy's shoes, he's gonna be a total nepotism case, he's only gonna learn how to work the WWE way, and really if anything goes awry between Rey and WWE at any point, do you think they'll bat an eye before firing the guy or humiliate him ? I'd rather have him learn the job, go around, travel and shit instead of try and make him a WWE cog 4 Life. I dunno, seems like corporate culture and it's not something I expect from Rey.

Is Impact* the best wrestling promotion in history? *(Now TNA again, 2024)
One thing I noticed is how old Eric Young looks. I mean, he's only 40 ? Nature ain't kind with some of us. He's looking not one day under 50.

Can't complain about a show that had MCMG comeback, two excellent/great singles matches in Chris Bey vs Willie Mack and Deonna Purrazo vs Jordynne Grace, the main event was really good two with some great moments. So glad Rich Swann is back. Eric Young was kinda Eric Yawn to me but it was to be expected, and he was actually really good delivering that beating on Swann. The right guy won, as IMPACT needed a feel-good moment at this time and Edwards really was the guy for the job. Austin looks more like a star with every passing month. Last time I've seen Gallows & Anderson, they were in NJPW... Shamrock was as good as he's gonna be at his age, so the match was pretty good, and North vs MCMG should be terrific. Moose vs Dreamer I enjoyed. I enjoy Moose (as a pro-wrestler...) and Tommy looking more and more like Terry Funk is kinda cool. Women Gauntlet was kind of a mess, with some fun stuff at times and again, the right woman won. No Tenille Dashwood nor any surprise on that front though... Kylie Ray vs Deonna Purrazo should be gold. There was no moment like the Sami vs Tessa match from last year, but considering what they had to work with in that super complicated context, that show was a win (with technical fuck-ups galore, but that's IMPACT going live).
