WWE TV 4/20-4/26 time for the Ingovernables de Titan Sports to reign supreme
Shitstorm incoming.

AEW Dynamite - April 22, 2020
Ryan Satin is humiliating himself arguing with Meltz on that very topic. Gotta love a perennial WWE shill and fake journalist who actually got hired by the company trying to play the "If he had signed with WWE you'd be saying otherwise" card.

AEW Dynamite - April 22, 2020
I'm not saying I disagree. I thought he gave him too much too. Just pointing out that untouchable figures like Flair did exactly the same thing. Going toe to toe is a gross overstatement though. Even Jericho mentioned that Omega was basically toying with him at the end, and it lasted what, just a few minutes. He didn't even use his actual finisher to end the guy either. This. Yeah, Omega gave him too much. Do I think it will matter in any way shape of form at the end of the day ? Nope. All of this too.

AEW Dynamite - April 22, 2020
People bitching about Kenny Omega giving too much to a job guys... *cough* Ric Flair *cough* Remember when people thought having squash matches was needed and that it was better than actual competitive matches ? Well, it ain't. Once in a while, ok, but really, that makes for some uninteresting stuff... Wardlow looks like a colorless Adam Bomb thus far, honestly. Or some WCW Thunder Power Plant guy. And yeah, Brodie Lee showing up and doing it better while looking much more scarier doesn't help. I kinda like the threesome of Havoc, Sabian & Penelope. Wait, I did not say that. These shows are made a whole lot better than they actually are thanks to the awesome announcing by Schiavone & Jericho. Damn, Jericho has turned himself into a living legend with this AEW run. I don't miss JR one bit. Hell, JR solo "sports-like" announcing the previous week only made the never-ending Hager vs Mox match even duller than it was. With Jericho & Tony at the helm, it would have been more entertaining to watch for sure. These shows are ok but also a bit sad to watch. The BTE format works so much better during those circumstances.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
If some of these guys and girls can find work elsewhere when all is said and done, why the fuck would they want to even approach this company again ? Really. Getting fired during a pandemic while you can't get no other job just to insure big ass dividends.

French catch
Google is odd. BTW, I think it's safe to say that Roger Couderc was to french catch what Lance Russel was to Memphis. He was awesome.

French catch
Thanks. Well... like I said, I wouldn't consider this as a valid source at all, unless you stumble on those terms over and over again from publications from when it was really popular (which is way before the 70's). How in the hell did you fall on *this* interview ?
-
French catch
I guess, but like I said, never heard it before, in any context. That's why I would be interested to read/hear the source.

French catch
I would be curious to see that. It doesn't even make any sense relative to a good guy and a bad guy. It would basically mean "good looking" vs "fake" or "cheap". Like, WTF ?
-
French catch
No idea where you found such a thing. It's not even a literal translation. The equivalent basically would be "gentil" and "méchant", which are the terms we use for movies too. (basically, "good" and "bad", literally "kind" or "gentle" and "mean")

He almost looks like Varg Vikerness now. No nazi memorabilia on his shelf though...

All Elite Wrestling
BTE 200 was like the greatest thing ever. The Barber Shop spot was brillant but the I Love You thing had me legit rolling. Quite a montage too at the end. Amazing to think how much of a waste and how worse pro-wrestling as a whole would be if these guy had gone to the pit that is WWE. What an incredible story.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Pro-wrestling is the epitome of sport-as-a-spectacle, the unassumed shadow of what "real sport" actually is, so of course it won't happen. The day pro-wrestling becomes actual performance art and the "sport" aspect gets more and more secondary, maybe then, some guys and girls will step up and say "hey, we are more like actors, let's fucking unionize now". It's all the same entertainment bullshit anyway, but the "faker" it gets, the more real it can become and the more adult and responsible, maybe, those people can be.

Unionize, bitches. Until then...

Wrestling before or after 1996?
Dan is doing an AWESOME job with this BTW. I barely have seen anything from that period. Yeah, maybe that one because basically that was the pro-wrestling my father used to watch for a while. I recognize some of the names. Yeah, maybe one day, but that's very specific. That's the one Roland Barthes wrote about, too.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
It was what brought me back and made me look toward the future. Honestly if I had my way, I'd take a great new product in the Lucha Underground form rather than AEW (which I really like a lot, mostly). Which is why I love some of the stuff IMPACT does which is straight out of the most fucked up (the whole Undead Realm stuff) or simply the most progressive (Tessa winning the world title) LU stuff.

AEW Dynamite - April 15, 2020
I would want every show ever announced by Schiavone & Jericho together. It's just so awesome. (although I would prefer AEW not doing shows right now)

Wrestling before or after 1996?
Funny how my answer is gonna be the polar opposite of what it was. As of this day, I'd be ok if I never watch anything from the past, ever. I'm only interested in the now, and tomorrow.

PWO Appreciation Thread
Super nice thread. PWO has been my home for the longest time I've been a pro-wrestling fan. I did my best writing here (although it seems like in another life). Salute.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
WWE is not pro-wrestling. It's never been easier to watch anything but WWE wrestling. And really, for years and years now, anyone with a decent Internet connection could watch anything from anywhere. WWE being a toxic waste of a promotion is nothing new. WWE could die tomorrow and I would not blink an eye. Pro-wrestling has never been more fun than in the last few years to me. Most pro-wrestling companies actually are dealing with this crisis in a most professional and decent way (even ROH and IMPACT, imagine that). Pro-wrestling is not, and has never been "WWE". Thankfully.

Hey people. How are you enjoying your apocalypse ? I'm doing mighty fine. Being confined for a month already and going for another one (at least). Been enjoying AEW (although I wish they would only do BTE from compound/confinement homes), IMPACT, NWA (yeah binged watch that second season and it was soooo much better than the first). I enjoyed Taker vs Styles from that pathetic, irresponsible Mania show, got good laughs at GiFMania from Ciampa/Gargano. Been enjoying the second season of Dark Side, although the Benoit stuff was hard to watch and heartbreaking. And well, I guess Vince really did cover up for a murder and here he is doing mass firing during a pandemic (after bribing is way into running live shows and putting his workers and their families at risk). So yeah, fuck Vince McMahon and his awful sociopathic family and stooges. Also fuck Jerry Lawler and Jim Cornette (who managed to come off *worse* than Vince Russo on the Brawl for All episode, yeah, we have reached that point) old redneck ra(pist?)cist asses. And fuck Macron and his irresponsible government, too (yeah, it's been handled pretty badly here too, with some apex of bullshit like the spokeperson explaining that masks are not necessary plus it's too complicated to use because it's scientific and hell, she even does not know how to use it. Yeah. It did happen. Because you see, we don't have masks, so might as well tell the people that it's useless). Hope you are doing well, people.

Is Impact* the best wrestling promotion in history? *(Now TNA again, 2024)
IMPACT has noticeably upped its game since the move on AXS and the last pro-wrestling I'll see in 2019 will be that crazy brawl between Callihan & Tessa going into the streets (I swear one car stopped and the guy legit was asking himself WTF was happening). Just an awesome, awesome angle (and Callihan's promo beforehand showed once again why this guy is the MVP of the promotion). They have done and are doing such a terrific job with this build-up since Slammiversary, Tessa winning the title will be a great moment ! There you go, bye-bye 2019.

Cody vs. Darby Allin II
Have the Dark Order run in and beat them both. (wait, maybe having done those WCW and TNA threads actually has had long term effects...) Should be the highlight of the show. First show of 2020 and last show I'll watch at my current home, as I'm gonna change place and life *again* just at the end of this week. Probably won't be active very much or at all on the board for a while too, as I'm gonna be pretty busy dealing with work and administrative stuff and discovering a whole new environment. So there, I say Happy New Year already to everyone on the board too, enjoy your pro-wrestling, old or current, be kind and healthy, people.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
The very first angle I saw was Boris Zhukov beating up Nikolai with his boot. And wow, that was great ! Well, no. I must say, at least half the credit for hooking me goes to the announcing team of Carpentier & Hauray. They made anything sound exciting, fun and important, even the worst shit ever. So yeah, announcing goes a long way (which I guess is why IMPACT remains my favourite show and why I can't watch NXT despite all the great talent). You could watch the worst Brutus Beefcake squash, if Bobby Heenan was great at announcing it, it did not matter that much how bad it was.
