Dave Meltzer stuff
Ok, but in the grand scheme a things, what do you think matters most ? A stupid comment by Meltz about a worker's look on a weekly podcast or the fact the WWE is doing propaganda work for a State who treats women like second class citizens (among other things) in exchange for an insane amount of green (while promoting a "Women Evolution" PR campaign, just as the cherry on a cake of showing no shame at all) ? One is not close to the other in term of fucking things up, at all. Peyton Royce being angry : totally understood (I would be too). Meltz apologizing : the right thing to do (I would have too). Moral outrage galore and usual hive mentality : complete garbage and rogue waves of hypocrisy.

It's social media. It's the fact people are hiding behind a keyboard. I'm sure 99% would never ever act that way during an argument or a discussion IRL. Well, I may be optimistic, but I do believe it would be the case. Immediacy of exchange helps. (one day a known movie reviewer and I were arguing on some movie blog, and he ended up working himself so hard he told me I didn't deserve to be called a human being ! A common friend told me after the fact he was actually super nice and easy going IRL but was regularly losing his shit on Internet)

Of course not good enough, what do you expect from these people ? A functioning brain ?

Dave Meltzer stuff
Oh man, yeah, this one is brutal. And yeah, Meltz apologized. You know, like real people, not mindless corporate drones and Twitter-low-IQ sheep, do. I also learned the meaning of "on the spectrum" today (I mean, in English I had no idea what it meant), so I got something out of this mess. And if that is the case, all more support to Meltz (no matter if I agree or disagree with him).

Oh, gotta add, must love the personal judgement on someone she doesn't know at the end. Meanwhile, her boss has been accused of sexual harrasment and rape in the past. The company she works for has celebrated a guy who probably killed his girlfriend as a hero on TV no longer than last year. Jerry Lawler, who got away with murder (well, rape on underage, actually) is still employed and presented as a legend. But Dave Meltzer making a remark about diet deserves outrage ? No. Fuck all the hypocrites.

Ok, let's be real now : working for WWE and making "feminist" statements is fucking hysterical, really. Getting a paycheck paid by the sweet Saudi Arabia money (you know what I mean, in the grand scheme of things) yet playing Twitter outrage because someone talked about diet regime (in context, right after they talked about Cena) ? Get your priority right. The amazing hypocrisy. And yeah, let's have another ten pages of useless Meltz bashing and dick stroking (because 99% of the people speaking here are males anyway) "look at me being so socially aware and angry" contest. (Twitter should be wiped out of this planet, it seems to affect the IQ of people)

Come on, Aldo Montoya did it in 95.

Current New Japan
I have really loved ZSJ's journey during the G1. He's a joy to watch and he's such a great douchebag. Him acting frustrated as hell with SANADA was tremendous, as was his reaction to finally winning with the MDriver, which he had failed to do until that point.

Current New Japan
I just wanted Naito to win because he's my favourite character (and worker maybe too) in pro-wrestling today, but honestly, yeah, he didn't need to win this G1. I've gotta say I love the way ZSJ finally beat him using the damn Michinoku Driver. That was perfect. Kevin Kelly talking about a women in the front row was bawling at that moment was pretty cool too.

Well, the G1 was a complete joy to watch from start to finish. I kinda got burned out in the beginning of the second phase (the fact I got sick as a dog didn't help either), but the regular amount of very good to great matches every day kept me going. The final wasn't as great as Naito vs Omega last year (then again, what is ?), but still a terrific match and story with Tana winning again (credit to Ibushi though, although I'm not always the biggest fan of his stuff). I don't think I've watched that amount of pro-wrestling from the same roster in such a concentrated form without getting bored (almost, well, Elgin was right there). I do think I need quite a break though, if only because I've been saturated with so much great stuff. But yeah, Naito should have won !

Couldn't agree more. It was a wonderful match. And it struck me too how safe it looks, especially compared to those crazy Ibushi matches. Well, the G1 as a whole was simply terrific, although I don't think any match approached Naito vs Omega from last year.

Has there ever been a better time to be a wrestling fan than right now?
That's true of society in general though. Social media are a cesspool because the human stupidity and hatred can now express itself openly for the entire world to see. It's usually absolutely depressing to spend more than 2 minutes reading comments on Youtube or FB.

That is a valid point, although one could argue other kind of bad stuff was creeping up in otherwise great matches too before, only different kind of bad stuff (bad stuff that never passed as "good"). The end result was the same to me though, those matches ended up being "not so great" because of it. But the legit great stuff of today absolutely measures up to any period, and hell, I've said it before, some of the legit greatest matches that I've ever seen over the course of 30 years or pro-wrestling fandom happened in NJ in the last 2 years (and I'm not an easy watcher as far as throwing the "great" label, I wouldn't say I've seen as much as 10 ***** (the old scale ) matches ever).

Easy access to archives also plays a part (anyone who ever paid 20$ plus S&H overseas for a 2 hour tapes 6 month after the fact should understand that). But I dunno. I kinda got bored of watching ghosts after a while. The idea that I could go to the Dome Show next year and actually be part of a super fun night of pro-wrestling is more appealing to me at this point than waxing romantics about the "good old days", especially since the more we go, the seedier the "good old days" look (and let's be real, most of the stuff during the "good old days" was crap too, the undercards of any US territory were quite pathetic).

You haven't gone trough the G1 apparently. Tons of great matches in different styles (dangerous offensive orgies, submission based stuff, brawls, injured underdogs fighting from underneath, mix comedy at times), great booking all around, intricate storytelling, tons of heat for heels, genuine emotion. Yeah, WWE sucks, but pro-wrestling isn't WWE.

RIP Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart
Tough summer for the pro-wrestling community. Neidhart was quite the efficient tag team wrestler, always fun to see him pop up on WWF TV in the 90's (and now I always hear that damn Stu Hart impersonation by Prichard about "giving the big fucking rhino a chance").

WWE looking in to Randy Orton allegations
Don't worry, he just doesn't post much anymore, that's all. Just poor sarcasm.

Agreed. Although tastes may vary, but the sheer availability of content is ridiculous.

WWE looking in to Randy Orton allegations
Ok, try to understand. I don't personally give a flying fuck about you. I don't know you. I'm just saying your posting lately has been pretty much only insults/trolling toward people you disagree with (and it doesn't matter who they are). Which doesn't constitue a very good basis for acting like a constructive veteran member giving advice about what PWO needs. Now, you're keeping up with trolling and insults, have a field day with it, you seem to love to have the "last word". If anyone wants to bring the thread back on topic, feel free.

WWE looking in to Randy Orton allegations
You're more boring and predictable than a Randy Orton match too. I mean, really ? That's the best you can come up with when confronted about the fact most of your contribution (lately at least, but it's not like you ever actively took part in anything) has been insults and trolling toward people you disagree with ? Anyway, back to the topic people, can't wait to see what's gonna come out of this.
-
WWE looking in to Randy Orton allegations
Considering half of your (glorious less than 200) posts are either insults or trolling, I would kindly suggest to keep your opinion about what's good for constructive discussions on PWO for yourself, really.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
No idea if the Network show being done plays a role in Bruce & Conrad being more relaxed again, but the last few shows have indeed been much much better.

WWE looking in to Randy Orton allegations
Showing off your dick to a fellow co-worker (if that did happen) as a way of hazing is an sexual offense. It has nothing to do with age.

I'm amazed he's only 38 too. He looks way older.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Bruce Prichard talked about this on his podcast. He basically said that Butch was considered at some point for an IC title run, but nothing was ever set in stone.
