  1. Like I said, the roots comes down to those Ric Flair matches in the 80's getting the vaunted *****. And now, we really now what's causing all this.
  2. Shibata is still selling that headbutt. Terrific.
  3. Listening to some older episodes. So, the WWF actually shoot and edited Hogan's matches so people would see his bald spot the less possible. Holy shit. The Sunny episode was quite the listen too. And really, it made you actually, and I never though I'd say that, understand and empathize with Sable more. The conclusion by Bruce "I don't think she's a good person" was like the sad, tragic end of this whole crazy narrative of Tammy Sytch's journey. So, took me a little while (mostly because of preconcieved notions), but I became a fan. This is the ultimate peak into the WWE logic.
  4. About TNA ? Damn, that was a sweet ass promotion… But it's dead. It's not hard to post at the right place… (there, 5 more sc of my precious time lost obsessing over shit)
  5. Because people don't get the "GFW thread is there http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/30965-global-force-wrestling/page-5" message it seems. Maybe they secretly love TNA and don't want it to go away.
  6. Considering his history and taste over the years, it makes perfect sense. Flair > Michaels > Angle > Omega. You can see the morphing of old NWA style turing into a go-go-go style matches (Flair) to the same classic US stuff with way more athletic spots (Micheals) to an even more go-go-go style with lots of finisher kick-outs and reversals "like in Japan" (Angle) to the mutation of the style through the latest Japanese stuff influenced back by the US indies mentality (Omega). (and that's not to say I mean Flair is like the other three, although my feelings about Flair as a worker are pretty clear by this point, great but overrated too; in that respect, I can see the "flow of taste" from Meltz making sense to me although I obviously strongly disagree. I'd rather watch Bockwinkle, Bret, Joe or Naito) I haven't watched the 1 hour Okada match nor anything from G1. No time at the moment. Since I had loved Naito so much last year, I should probably watch those last three shows though. But I'd rather watch them without the hype in mind.
  7. Can anyone close this thread already ? Hello ? GFW thread > http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/30965-global-force-wrestling/page-5

I've been out of the loop for a little while, not sure what's up for SummerSlam. What's the card shaping up to be ?
  10. Holy shit, you don't say. Listening to this, I was all "They've got to be fucking kidding, right ?". Then I remembered reading this out of nowere quote here. Yeah. Pretty embarrassing if you ask me. Fucking Freddie Fellini, what can that be possibly referencing to ? Fuck.
  11. Thanks for your always fun and constructive contribution to the board. But anyway, there's a GFW thread, so people interested in talking about this (yeah, seems crazy that people would want to talk about something other than old Memphis and current WWE but shit happens), can be directed there. Link in post above. Thanks again for your kindness and understanding and shit.
  12. This belongs there : http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/30965-global-force-wrestling/page-5 TNA isn't anymore.
  13. Quite so. The Hacksaw Duggan about the first Rumble, less so, not so much because Hacksaw isn't good, he's actually always a funny and charming guy, but it feels like it's a bit redondant with the Timeline he did. Still waiting for that Savio Vega Back one to pop up. The upcoming stuff with Teddy Hard and Chris Hero just isn't of any interest to me (and I skipped over the Fernandez stuff, no time for that kind of stuff anymore).
  14. And once again, you don't enjoy a dick spot. (because he's a heel... a dick... see what I did here ?) See, I'm not going to be a stingy reviewer like you. You're getting 4 1/2 stars for that joke. Thanks. I'm trying to work comedy posts inside the context and conventions of PWO.
  15. And once again, you don't enjoy a dick spot. (because he's a heel... a dick... see what I did here ?)
  16. El-P replied to sek69's topic in WWE
Seriously, Orton's 2017 is up there with the worst, dullest, most awful title reign ever, with two of the most godawful Wrestlecrap matches and feuds ever, beginning with a useless Rumble win. The Black Hole in his dullest splendor.
  17. What?! Only a 1/4 star? Your ranking system is too tough. Meltz would have it **** in the Tokyo Dome. Kinda like I actually enjoyed the last two years' Mania threads here much more than I did actually watching Mania. Whatever good comes of it on the board is a positive.
  18. He's barely better than Brian Lee. With crappy hair. Actually, he makes me think about this French fellow : which makes him a fail in every case imaginable.
  19. No-selling, hulking up and nut shots are conventions of pro-wrestling. The Dick spot plays on all of them in an absurd way. The more I think about it, the more it occurs to me that the "dick" part is what bothers people the most. That was not intended as comedy in the least. That was Russo at his all-time worst shooty-shooty "the rest if fake but this shit is real... (and scripted" dumbfuckery. Actually, the actual quote is even more legendary : "What are they gonna do now ? IMPROVISE ?" And I have to say this, most attempt at doing comedy in pro-wrestling is usually extremely bad and embarrassing (not "embarrasing for da biz" but simply "embarrassing"). What the WWE tries to pass as comedy is 99% rotten. So there..
  20. Off-topic : As a non-anglo-saxon, I've seen stuff on the whole "dating" concept and its subtleties, and it absolutely flies over my head. I've been in a relationship for more than ten years and we never got engaged. That's neither here nor there though. On topic : It's relevant to the character because it was, of sorts, a comedy spot in a pro-wrestling match also, as he used it to actually get her in a small package and pin her, classic heel move. So it was both cute IRL and funny as a gag. Ryan is a comedy pro-wrestler, and a pretty good one at that. End of story.
  21. Not very funny, that, either. Quarter star for effort. BTW, not finding Joey Ryan's dick spot funny is one thing. Totally understand. Well, I think it is funny, but then again, I'm a Raven fan. Getting outraged because of it and saying it's an embarrassement to pro-wrestling and shit is another. This is the ridiculous part.
