[1996-07-01-WWF-Raw] Sunny and Phineas Godwinn
I remember vividly this angle from Superstars, as we didn't get much memorable stuff there. Sunny is an awesome cunt here. Just perfect in her delivery and attitude. It's kinda sad that it's actually her highpoint in WWF, much like it's Dennis Knight's best thing he ever was a part of. I don't want to know what went into that particular bucket, knowing it was destined for Sunny. The way she sells it is great. Yep, memorable angle.

Lucha Underground
Cuerno vs Mundo in a cage was kinda cool when Cuerno was beating the hell out of Mundo. Too spotty still, and Mundo really isn't good. I like Yvelisse (great outfit too), but really, those intergender matches have to go away, it's way too awkward. Those vignettes, again. Konnan looked like the baddest motherfucker ever this week. Get him at Mania instead of Sting or Taker already. Can't say I look forward a casket match, but I guess it's a way to change the pace a little bit, much like the cage match this week. Good little episode again, although they really should advance Pentagon Jr. 's storyline now and give him a proper feud.

POLL: Enthusiasm for Mania
I have followed WWE TV since last year's Mania more than I ever did in 16 years, so yeah, I'm gonna watch it. But it looks like shit, really. The two things I look forward to are Cena vs Rusev and the crowd's reactions.

Current WWE
It's Jim Johnston actually. He is still producing the WWE themes ? Seems like everything got really generic in the 00's, apart for a few select guys.

What is the future of NXT?
30 years after Vince killed the territories, Paul is gonna kill the indies.

Wrestler=Actor
Channing Tatum could play a better Randy Orton than Randy Orton himself.

[1996-06-17-WWF-Raw] Contract Signing: Brian Pillman
The big What If of the MNW years. What if Pillman didn't had this horrible car accident that pretty much fucked him up to the point he couldn't work and couldn't live without pilling up. He looks like a star there. He probably would have been a star by 98 if he had been healthy enough. Also a notable one up by the WWF on WCW after the defections of Nash & Hall.

[1996-06-17-WWF-Raw] Owen Hart vs Marc Mero
Not much impressed about that match, I thought Mero had a better one against Candido the previous week. Mero's work doesn't look crisp at all, and he looked much better in WCW. You can tell he has no idea how to behave as the "Wildman". Owen was coasting at this point, but you gotta love his tribute to Ace Cowboy Bob Orton. Austin shows he should get some promo time. The one thing that struck me is how young and fresh Sable looked. I dunno if it's presentation, makeup or something, but it seems to me like she looked quite older in 98/99. Or maybe that's just the fact she became really annoying.

What is the future of NXT?
Most probably. But he already had a style to tone down to begin with. So yeah, they learnt to adapt. But guys who came straight out of NXT from nowhere aren't exactly setting the world on fire as far as work (or character) go. Funny that HHH always blasted OVW when really, the WWE has been leaning on guys coming from there (Cena, Orton, Lesnar, Batista) for pretty much the last decade, for better of for worse.

WWE Network... It's Here
Seems like the Network is amazingly poorly put together. Uploading RAW episodes *in order* doesn't seem like a huge task.

What is the future of NXT?
The whole "learning how to work" thrown at people like Devitt, Zayn or Owens (or any experienced talented indy guy) is unbelievably obnoxious. Especially when the whole WWE epic main event style is not exactly about "less is more" either.

New Japan: New Beginning Tour
Finally got to see that Ishii vs Homna match (as well as the whole card). Yeah, MOTYC without a doubt to me. Amazing that I was rewieving Homna's matches in BJ 16 years ago and called them MOTYC back then. Homna is a totally different worker today, and he is still awesome. It's a bit surreal to me to see a MOTYC in 2015 in New Japan coming from two former 90's indie guys, Big Japan and WAR no less. (it's kinda crazy to think if either one of these guys would be signed to NXT tomorrow, they would be told that they need to "learn how to work")

[1996-06-10-WWF-Raw] Ultimate Warrior and Jerry Lawler
Lawler is excellent here, and really carries the whole thing (including in the funny KotR vignette). Warrior with a cap really doesn't work, he really looks like he's only out there to shill his merchandising. I wonder why Warrior was paired with Lawler too, it's like he never really got thrown back into the mix. Lawler should have been given more angles and interview time back in those days.

Current WWE
I'm not sure there is any equivalent of the Daniel Bryan case in history, of a guy who gets over to the point the audience clearly wants him as the guy on top, there's nothing else to do but ride the wave, and the company just refuses to do it and actually makes effort to get him less over than he was down to the point of having him buried in the midcard like it's the case for his Mania match. It's just insane. And it's not like they have any red hot babyfaces or red hot heels to push, especially when the special attraction Brock is telling them to fuck off. And why are Big Show and Kane on my TV EVERY WEEK ?

Road to Wrestlemania
ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz…... Oh fuck, this is the build to Mania ? No shit ? I was more excited about WM 12...

Current WWE
Once again, the only two things worthwhile were a terrific Heyman promo (man, he really makes me want to watch that Brock Lesnar match, only not against Roman Reigns, whoever he is) and the Rusev vs Cena angle, which I enjoy a lot despite it being basically an old US vs evil foreigner stuff from the 80's. Lana was so good again, and Cena still looks like the Man. So, now we get a multi-man tag-team match, because a simple heated feud between two teams is to complicated I guess (BTW, whatever happened to the Ascension ? Already done hopefully). Nice. Along with the useless battle royal and the IC clusterfuck (Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose, thank you very much for your efforts of the past two years, you're now officially in a match with R-Truth and Stardust), it's a clear sign they have just given up on this card. Much like the fact Roman Reigns really looks like an afterthought at this point, really. What the fuck was that Sting voiceover ? How thrilling. So yeah, some rambling promos and supernatural stuff. I could have written that Bray vs Taker shit in my sleep, and thankfully the match will probably bring me back to that state too. I think this week is another proof of how great Stephy is on the mic, no ? I want that Kane vs Big Show match at Mania. I just want it to hear the reaction. Mania's selling point is Cena vs Rusev, and the crowd, basically. So, you all can't wait until Zami Zayn gets called "up", can you ?

[1996-06-03-WWF-Raw] Interview: Mankind
Now that it's almost 20 years ago (!!!), it's easy to forget how great Foley was during those years. Awesome promo. Love the fact they always use JR to do those interviews. The music playing was a nice touch.

[1996-06-03-WWF-Raw] Interview: Goldust
Holy shit, really ? Dustin was quite amazing. Such an awesome freak. The fact him and Mankind were the two best new characters on TV says a lot. When you think the third one would soon be Steve Austin, well, you get a pattern here. Yeah. Former WCW guys… Dumbass Bischoff.

When did the Tag Titles nose dive for you?
Damn. You mean this board would exist even without Vince.

[1996-05-27-WWF-Raw] Vader vs Ahmed Johnson
Vader is bumping like a freak for Ahmed Johnson. Way to make Vader look like just another guy, they really had no idea how to present him. But yeah, he makes Ahmed look decent here. The whole Goldust angle is kinda ridiculous, as although Goldust obvioulsy trolled Johnson, he did not exactly french kiss him either. Vince is so overselling the whole thing. They missed the boat on Goldust as an IC champ who really didn't defend his belt much, and they should have propelled him right to the main event scene at this point.

What is the future of NXT?
That's the one I find the most annoying. It's like everything has to be trademarked, even the slighest body movement. But yeah, it's a pretty accurate definition of the so-called "WWE style". I call it watering down.

When did the Tag Titles nose dive for you?
You're right. I guess they were already on their way out by that time then.
