[1996-05-27-WWF-Raw] Beware of Dog highlights / Interview: Ted DiBiase
DiBiase's stint as a manager has been so utterly unimpressive, certainly a big disapointment considering how great he was as a character. He actually was better for the first few weeks as nWo financial backer, before Uncle Eric showed everybody how you do the heel owner gimmick. Austin's reaction is actually pretty funny to me, you could feel he saw that stip as an opportunity to get rid of what had been an anchor.

When did the Tag Titles nose dive for you?
To me the exact moment was WM10. Instead of running the Quebecers vs the Steiners, which was what would have made sense, they gave the match to MOM and the match was a complete throwaway, while the Steiners were buried in a ten men tag which didn't even happened.

When did the Tag Titles nose dive for you?
Inspired by the IC title, and rewachting RAWs from 96, I thought we could ask ourselves the same question about the tag titles, which were a big deal until the early 90's. In 96, The Godwinns were fighting the Body Donnas on free PPV pre-shows. I know some will talk about how the Hardys, E&C and the Dudleys gave credibility back to the division, but to me the ship had sailed as early as 1994, probably when they switched the titles to babyfaces Head Shrinkers (never figured why) then to Micheals & Diesel who never defended the titles and then didn't do a job to lose them (how surprising). When they did the teag team tournament in 95, it didn't felt that important anymore, especially when the winners (Holly & Kid) would lose the titles after one day.

[1996-05-20-WWF-Raw] Henry & Phineas Godwinn vs The Bodydonnas
I'd quite sad that the most notable feud Tammy Sytch was involved in during her WWF stint was against the Godwinns, and especially freaking Mideon. Yeah, she was pretty great in that feud, but still. Also, a babyface forcing a kiss on the female heel manager looks so much like sexual assault in 2015. Yeah, times change, and although I don't like political correctness, in this case the change is for the better, really. And yeah, the tag team scene in WWF was so sad despite some good teams (the Gunns, the New Rockers, the Body Donnas). Tag titles match on Free pre-PPV.

Well, he turned out Bill Demott.

[1996-05-13-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley
I forgot how mediocre Helmsley was at this point already. Shawn is so obnoxious, going after Hunter's girl despite being accused of being a womanizer. Good TV match, but it's mostly Shawn being über generous with his pal. I also had totally forgot that Helmsley was recieving the "hot babe" push then. They really tried everything with this guy...

Gotta love the propaganda video. Hey, these people were waiting for one thing, watch WWF action.

[1996-05-06-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels ruined my marriage
Oh man, I NEVER once thought about Liz. I guess the 80's hair was a clue but still, I never ever figured that one out.

Who is your least favourite person associated with wrestling period?
But come on, she's a great promo. Hell, she's better than Paul Heyman. Just look at last week's RAW... Wait. Wrong exemple.

Bill Demott is not a good human Thread
I used to think that way too, but going through WCW TV again, I ended up thinking the opposite. Demott was an average worker at best. Bumped well for a big guy, and that's about it. Never was able to make much of anything of his athletic ability. When put alongside guys like the Faces of Fear, he looked badly outclassed, and he didn't look like the workhorse next to Konnan (who sucked) either. His MIA push, although coming at a point where he was already pretty beat up exposed him as a guy who just didn't belong at that level at all (and his promos weren't good). So yeah, to me he was perfectly used by WCW as a JTTS, able to bump and make other people look impressive at times. The whole moonsault deal wasn't that impressive when we've already seen Bigelow, Vader and, hell, Meanie do the same thing, and that's really most of what he had to offer that was "unique". I guess that's why he's a miserable fuck.

Who is your least favourite person associated with wrestling period?
And to give an answer to the question, as far as "least favourite" in term of ruining my enjoyement of pro-wrestling, the answer is self-evident. Russo.

I've listened to about every Corny's podcasts (a few issues behind, so not the very latest ones yet). So there.

Bill Demott is not a good human Thread
Exactly what I was thinking. And Bruce was probably a better worker too (which doesn't say much). The only thing "going for" Demott is that he "sacrified" for wrestling, meaning he fucked up his body doing stupid spots while not drawing any money nor getting over. That's basically why he gets some respect from some of his peers I guess. The old ECW mentality. But like I said, ECW already had a Blue Meanie.

Who is your least favourite person associated with wrestling period?
What was the point of posting this? Indeed. I get a totally creepy vibe out of this post. And of all the dipshits, no talents and awful human that have been involved more or less with pro-wrestling, Jim Cornette's podcast co-host, really ? This is ridiculous.

[1996-04-29-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels, Jim Cornette and Davey Boy & Diana Smith
Cornette's promo is terrific, but everyone here is very good, including Diana, and Michaels giving his best babyface promo in while (although the slap was kinda deserved, in all honesty, as he didn't even defend himself but rather insulted the woman he supposedly hit on). Excellent angle, and the Bulldog is back in the main event scene, obviously as a transitionnal challenger killing time for Vader. (but yeah, never got Lothario either, his most shining moment was to be beat up by Sid at MSG)

Lucha Underground
Yep. Best episode in a while, although I really could do with less man on woman action (but I at least appreciate the fact a babyface, even a beast like Ryck, is reluctant and actually won't hit a woman). Good opener. Fenix has currently the best job in pro-wrestling. The main event is probably my favourite LU match thus far, as I like this style better. Texano really looks like his father, it's eerie. The vignettes are just ridiculous, I mean, they made freaking Konnan seeking his revenge look more intriguing and interesting than Sting working Mania for instance. We can already safely say that LU is the greatest promotion ever for backstage promos and vignettes. All the Cueto stuff has been gold. Alberto does look like a bigger star in this setting than anyone in WWE in theirs. (Please, don't hire Russo, pleaaaaaaaase)

Current WWE
Yeah, Bray Wyatt vs Taker is great. Each week we get a rambling Bray Wyatt promo next to a coffin, nothing else happens. We'll probably get some surnatural Taker appearance where he points to the Mania sign (I want a euro each time this happens on RAW) in the following weeks. Yeah. Great feud.

Current WWE
Bill should be demotted. Ok, I leave. But seriously, he should. This guy was a fat guy with a moonsault at the time the Blue Meanie was a fat guy with a moonsault.

When did the IC title nose dive for you?
The Mountie winning on a house show two days before jobbing it to Piper at the Rumble wasn't exactly making the IC title any favours either, really.

Road to Wrestlemania
Seriously, Mania looks totally tepid. The only match I have interest in is Rusev vs Cena. And the undercard ? A bunch of multi-man gimmick matches, the best way to make everyone seems unimportant. With Daniel Bryan thrown in that dull mix. The main event will be interesting for the Mania crowd reaction though. We could get another Brock vs Goldberg disaster of sorts here.

Lucha Underground
I can totally get behind a 3 out of 5 serie with Aeostar vs Drago. Cage vs Puma was as good as it can gets, but Cage really is a power spot indieriffic spot monkey with no character. Don't care for Mundo at all, so the main event was just blah to me, although I enjoy Cuerno a lot. They better do something with Pentagon Jr. quick, as entertaining as his squashed are, it's time to move on and have him advance his storyline a little bit. Sexy Star vs Big Ryck ? Ugh… Is Russo writing already ? I mean, some of the intergender stuff as been pretty watchable, but still…

Random Out-Of-The-Blue Gimmicks
To me the Godfather is everything that was wrong about the Attitude era. A babyface pimp ? Wait, what ? His matches were awful, and the only reason he got any reaction to begin with is because he got a bunch of strippers walking him down the ring. He never was anything more than an intro with tons of tits and ass, and a stupid and actually offensive catchphrase for a babyface. Once the strippers got dropped, no one cared one bit about this guy. Pretty much. And why ? Because from all acounts, he was an office stooge and a kiss-ass. Add to this the fact he was a locker room bully (who once got knocked out by Joey Styles of all people), and you get quite a nice picture about "talent rising to the top".

Who is the worst booker ever?
It amazes me to no end that a guy with such a track record of being a proven complete failure over the last 16 years (to be generous) is still getting some attention by people in charge of pro-wrestling TV programs. It's totally mind-blowing.
