[1996-05-06-WCW-Nitro] Jushin Liger vs Dean Malenko
I am so bored with Dean Malenko at this point. These kind of match just doesn't do much for me anymore, and I don't think it's that good anyway. It's a sprint with cool looking moves and counters. I though Regal & Sting had a much better match on the same show.

Wait, so now angles refer to the booking itself ? This is totally Vince Russo-like.

Royal Rumble 2014
Holy shit. WWF just got their Great American Bash 91. Amazing to watch. Yeah, Punk got to shine early, but was rather quickly forgotten, had a comedy spot with a midget right in the middle of the match and got eliminated Giant Gonzalez style by motherfucking KANE. In 2014. K-A-N-E. No one is over. Ok, Sheamus got a pop, so did Roman Reigns. But outside of these two, no one got any reaction coming in. The quiet music of the Wyatts demonstrated how no one gave a shit about them, they had no heat despite doing a number on Cena earlier. Del Rio is downright embarrassing when he's doing all kind of "intense" faces and body movement trying to get some kind of reaction and getting zilch. They should only bring Kingston once a year, because apparently doing a yearly cute acrobatic spot in the Rumble is the only role he has in the company. Rusef had quite the debut, eliminating... no one. As soon as I heard Mysterio's music, I felt for the guy. They sent him to the slaughter. Gotta admit I got a huge kick out of the entire crowd shitting hard on the 619. Still, that was brutal. So yeah. Orton wins the title. Batista wins the Rumble. What an horrible, dull, straight from the mid/late 00's main event for WM 30. The crowd was hilarious. In the old days, they would have rioted. I feel for anyone who's invested a cent or any emotion on WWE's product. And yeah, the notion of adult Dewey is making me feel old, but his post is quite funny. "My dad made your ass". Post modern wrestling. I love how they are blaming the fucking agent for this debacle.

[1996-04-29-WCW-Nitro] Steven Regal vs Fit Finlay (Parking Lot Brawl)
I guess this was inspired by Goldust vs Piper at Mania. Cool setup, these kind of things were really fresh and unique at the time before the endless list of boring and bad hardcore matches in the late 90's. Not as good as the other matches I agree, and the wide angle kinda hurts the viewing pleasure once again, but it's still one hell of a brawl.

[1996-04-27-WCW-Saturday Night] Steven Regal vs Fit Finlay
Damn, *that* clothesline from Regal was one of the best I've ever seen. Dusty marking out is always great. Love those little TV matches in-between the PPV's.

What are your favorite or what you think are the best southern brawls ever?
Yep. This is a pretty much an awesome southern brawl. Hard to find much better in that genre.

[1990-04-01-FMW] Atsushi Onita & Tarzan Goto vs Masanobu Kurisu & Dragon Master (Texas Street Fight)
Man, you NEED to watch all Onita-era FMW then. Big time Onita fan myself, for basically the same reasons. That and the melodramatical selling. I love the irony of about 99,99% of idiots who thought Onita was all about doing crazy shit and bleeding like a pig so they do the same shit in indies for zilch money, while Onita's real deal was fucking selling. Sure, he was doing crazy shit, but not nearly as stupid as anything that has been done since, and he was making shitload of money doing it. Oh, anyway, I love Onita. Wild Thing by X + water bottles + crying = greatest pro-wrestling outros ever.

[1996-03-25-WCW-Nitro] Ric Flair vs The Giant
Flair's entrance with Liz & Woman throwing Savage's money is amazingly obnoxious. Woman slapping Savage with his own money while he was being restrained is the icing on the cake. The dive over the rope to the floor is something to see. Not much of a match since the Giant since impervious to pain here (Hogan must really be special, or Flair is just a bitch), but all the ways Flair finds to cheat his ass off are really well executed. Fun post-match too when Sullivan grabs the chair from Arn just at the wrong time so the Giant thinks *he* was the one hitting him from behind. Arn's reaction is classic too, especially when he realizes the Giant will not spare him either. Good stuff.

[1996-03-25-WCW-Nitro] Sting & Lex Luger vs American Males
Luger is hilarious here, from the way he changes gears while on his way to the ring as soon as Sting watches him, to the way he loses his shit all over Bagwell, to his ridiculous post-match celebration. Remember how dull and boring he was a year earlier in the WWF ? He made a decent little TV match into the highlight of the week.

[1996-03-25-WCW-Nitro] Randy Savage vs Fit Finlay
Yep, much better than I remembered. Savage showed much more fire here than he did against most of the midcarders he faced since he debuted in WCW. And ironically, him giving "less" to Finlay made for a better match that looked more like a struggle.

[1996-03-24-WCW-Uncensored] Steven Regal vs Fit Finlay
Two things hurt this match : total lack of heat, because Finlay wasn't over and he hasn't been built as a babyface; it was very much your-turn/my-turn, and would have gone over big time in Japan with this kind of stiffness. So yeah, the brutality and ultra-crispness were great, but a great match it wasn't. Gotta love the announcers marking out. WCW was presenting so many fresh new styles at this point that the audience didn't always knew what to make of it. Perfect match for Korakuen Hall though.

Who is winning the Royal Rumble?
It's pretty scary that the idea of "fresh" in 2014 is to get a 45 year old back after a four years absence and push him to the top against a proven draw failure thas has been pushed since the mid-00's.

Good not great wrestlers
I already talked about this in lenght in the past and don't intend to do it again. They do bother me. But anyway, this is neither here nor there since as I said it Lawer is better than good to me.

Good not great wrestlers
HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT !!!!! YOU'LL GET BANNED FROM YOUR OWN BOARD !!!!!! Okay, maybe not. But you pointed a whole lot of stuff that bother me about Lawler. You forgot the no-sell comebacks. Though honestly I have Lawler at "very good/excellent", so he doesn't belong in this thread for me. Fuji at his peak was great (like Takada, you know), so no.

Good not great wrestlers
That made him look even better.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Thats' a good point. I don't think so. All of a sudden, Steph is sluting it up a notch on TV, Savage seems to be backballed and the rumours that he fucked her just appear from nowhere. Fantaisies.
