WON HoF Candidate Poll Thread
France had wrestling on TV in the 50's and 60's I think, and that's pretty much it. I do think it was pretty big back then, but it didn't last into the 70's I believe, and it has been pretty much dead since then. Germany sure had a much stronger wrestling "culture" with Otto Wanz promotion I'd guess. But I don't see how either can measure up to British wrestling.

[1993-06-05-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Ric Flair & Arn Anderson
The first true Ric Flair promo since he came back. Way too late though, to me watching in context the damage had been done, and the exctiement of Flair coming back has been reduced a lot by months of nothingness and awful Flair for the Gold segments.

WCW Head Bookers
After going through WCW TV from 1989 to mid 1993, Ole Anderson gets the award of shittiest WCW booker of the early 90's, hands down.

[1993-05-23-WCW-Slamboree] Vader vs Davey Boy Smith
I thought it was really good. The power moves from Davey are insane, especially the delayed suplex and the piggybackdrop. I can understand the DQ as it was the first match in the programm, but coming off such a disaster of a show, yeah it can seem like the rotten cherry on the shitty cake.

[1993-05-23-WCW-Slamboree] Hollywood Blonds vs Dos Hombres (Cage)
The whole Dos Hombres gimmick really kills the heat until Austin decides he'll kill himself bumping off the cage. Hot finish, although with a major screw-up, and Zenk just is no Douglas and it shows.

[1993-05-23-WCW-Slamboree] Flair for the Gold: The Four Horsemen
Seriously, whose idea was that ? Who thought for one minute it could work ? As babyfaces nonetheless, when Roma is a natural heel. They couldn't find anyone on the roster or someone with a history in the company instead of a WWF branded JTTS ? Never saw that before today either, and man, it sure made Flair look like an idiot. I would say poor Roma, but he was an asshole anyway, so fuck him.

[1993-05-15-WCW-Saturday Night] Flair for the Gold: Hollywood Blonds
Indeed. God awful production values. The piped crowd noise is unbearable and makes the thing even worse. At least nWo Nighcap was in front of the audience. As far as Austin and Pillman goes, they looked like the future here. WCW is gonna work that passing of teh torch angle and in a matter of a few years, Austin will be WCW champion and the new big star of the company. Or not.

[1993-05-15-WCW-Worldwide] Rick Rude vs Dustin Rhodes
This match in full is actually really good, and Rude looks perfectly fine in it. The botched spot is more because of Dustin to me, who was coming off a shoulder surgery. I don't like that finish at all. The US title was stripped from Rude after he held it for a year, then DUstin got it after a tournament, and in the blow-off match between the two we get this and a title held up again ? (I saw the Power Hour version of this, and the announcing team of Blakjack Mulligan and Bischoff is rotten. At one point Mulligan refered to Shane Douglas as Shawn Michaels !)

Good angle. Rude bashing Dusty was a nice touch, and Dustin is intense here. Way to build the long awaited match between the two.

Money promo by Cornette and Bullet Bob. Holly shit, wrestling seems so simple and efficient with these two around. Must-see segment.

[1993-05-01-SMW-TV] Down and Dirty: Kevin Sullivan
I fucking love Sullivan's promos in SMW. Insane and funny as hell. Dutch is great as always playing the straight and slighty threatened guy to Sullivan's maniac character.

[1993-05-08-WCW-Worldwide] Hollywood Blonds vs Marcus Bagwell & 2 Cold Scorpio
Yep, really good TV match. Scorpio is the biggest missed opportunity by the big two of the decade, seriously, he blows away guys like Malenko or Booker who got a rep for being featured during the MNW era. Bagwell has developped into a decent blowjob (straight or gay, I couldn't say) tag-team babyface, and the Blonds really got out of their shell teaming together. Amazing how Austin has improved in two years. The towel strangulation shot is brutal.

[1993-05-08-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Ole Anderson / Flair for the Gold: Arn Anderson
Arn is decent there, but yeah, Flair is goofy as all hell here, and really, after not being his old self for most of his WWF stint, this kind of stuff does him no favour. So bad it's good stuff. In a way, this was really nWo Nightcap a few years before the fact (and I like Liz better than Fifi).

[1993-05-01-WCW-Saturday Night] Flair for the Gold: Vader & Harley Race
The production is hilariously bad. Bad directing, people talking over each others in a messy (as opposed to organic) way. Oh man, I never knew Fifi actually spoke French ! Awesome ! Anyway, Vader is really good here though, he makes the whole segment valuable. I'm waiting for him to smack Flair like he would a journalist from Koweit...
