[1992-01-21-WCW-Clash of the Champions XVIII] Jesse Ventura and Sting
yes ! Ventura is in the place ! The announcing has been pretty dry since Heyman was removed from the position, so Ventura will spice it up. Plus Herd is gone, so WCW looked indeed better all of a sudden. That being said, Luger's promo was as dull and unengaging as he could be at times. I guess since he already was planning to leave he didn't give a shit anymore.

[1992-01-21-WCW-Clash of the Champions XVIII] Big Van Vader & Mr Hughes vs Rick & Scott Steiner
Let me disagree. This is exactly the kind of match I would show to argue the Steiners were quite overrated. Yes, there were impressive big spots, especially since both big men can bump, but it's basically a spotfest with no selling, no build, no drama. Vader is overbumping to the point it's nothing special after the third suplex in the same match. Nowhere near as good as the Steiners and Doom beating the shit out of each others in 1990. Really, Terry Taylor & Tracy Smothers vs Brian Pillman & Marcus Bagwell was a much better match than this kind of generic Steiner spotfest.

Vince McMahon's Amusement
I think I can remember some interview of the Quebecers on the platform by Raymond.

I actually enjoyed El Matador's gimmick. It made Tito seemed fresh at the time, I wish he would have been pushed again as he was still one of their best worker.

Davey Boy Smith eventually became The British Bulldog when he came back as a single. Jacques Rougeau became just The Mountie (then Jacques, because tag team members never have a last name even though everybody knows who they are). And don't forget the awful Freddie Joe Floyd which was a rib on Brisco, quite humiliating after years of being well known as Tracey Smothers. The Stalker is another historically terrible repackaging, but I think it went the other way around, as they first didn't say his name at all then introduced him as The Stalker Barry Windham since it was obvious, then of course Barry got all Blackjacked up. Barry really never fit in WWF after the US Express deal, he went from bad gimmick to bad gimmicks there. Glad he went back to WCW in 99. I think there's an alternate reality where Patterson talked Vince into using Widowmaker Barry Windham in the Zeus role in 1989 in a King's Court gimmick with Savage, Sherri, and heel Rockers as Sherri's knights. I wish I lived there. Man, I want to live there too !

Remember Steve Armstrong "repackaged" as Lance Cassidy ?

Lanny Poffo - greatest ever camp/effeminate heel?
Yes. Really one of the best I've heard. It's too bad he never got to work in WCW during the Nitro days, he probably could have had some good TV stuff. The most infamous "paid to stay at home" WCW contract.

[1992-01-04-WCW-Saturday Night] Arn Anderson vs Dustin Rhodes
Terrific TV match to kick off the year. Arn was at his best here, and Dustin was already a very good worker. Enjoyed the time and patience they put in, enjoyed the surprising nearfall at the end. Everything looked crisp, intense. Not a lot of spectacular spots, and yet they made one hell of a match out of this.

Lanny Poffo - greatest ever camp/effeminate heel?
I really don't care for any effeminate gimmick. It reeks of very cheap and stereotypical gay bashing, so it's no better than a race baiting gimmick to me. Poffo did a good job at it certainly, but a gimmick designed to get "faggot" chant from the audience doesn't get any consideration from me, it's just not fun. Plus there were much better than Poffo in the role, Adrian Street was much better because he was portraying a queer that would actually kick the shit out of you, Street was a though character. And Goldust was also much better because it was more ambiguous, a character that played on stereotypes to make people uneasy. Of course the WWF wasn't nearly subtle enough to book such a character in a compelling way and reverted back into sheer homophobia with Piper. Anyway, Poffo was good at an always embarrassing gimmick, but he certainly wasn't the best nor the most inrtriguing at it. And he wasn't a very good worker contrary to Street or Dustin. Just about decent and totally carryable.

I was so disapointed he didn't get back in the ring at that time. Then I saw him work in WCW...

WM 13. His dad made the save from a post-match beating after the IC title match with The Sultan. Blurring the face of Hebner is so stupid.

WWE acquires the Watts video library
Sigh Eh eh. How they will handle Cornette is the interesting part. MX vs Rock'n Roll was such a big part of Mid-South at one point. After years of "fuck you Johnny Ace, fuck you WWE" on public forums, I doubt they'll contact Corny, and I doubt he would do anything with them.

Well, you are the one making bitchy whining posts for nothing actually. And "all history is fucking revisionnist history" was such a retarded comment that I had to jump in.

[1996-10-21-WWF-Raw] Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs Marc Mero
It's funny that Hennig was part of two heel turn that didn't go anywhere in the mid-90's in the WWF. First on Luger at WM X, then on Mero in 96. Both time he was gone shortly after and there was no payoff.

My first thought as well My first thought was that was a shitty, ultra whiny post and all history is fucking revisionist history. The History major in me laughs at this post vehemently.

You know what, I've heard that one before, and it's just an amazing story when you think about it. I mean, Beckett and a young Andre in a truck.
